The Unofficial Chatterbox Thread! Everyone is Welcome!

The trash collector took everything, I'm impressed.

woohoo, the owner must have got too many complaints and I'm sure he knew he was violating fire code with all the doors being propped open. He had automatic closures put on all the hallway fire doors this week.

Now just have to convince the cat she can NOT sneak past us into the hallway. In the past she would slide out, sniff the other apartment doors and sprawl out.. wait for us to scoop her up and toss back inside. No problem because both hall doors were shut, now she would have opportunity to escape  or lead us on a merry chase thru the entire building.

Just did the taxes.. sucky .. at least we don't owe $.

Adding to the suck fest, we're having some electrical issue with the car.
He got a jump this morning, it couldn't handle anything being on during the 20 minute drive to work and it wouldn't lock with the remote. Makes no sense because it's been fine and driven everyday. It wouldn't start at all a few months ago, they could not replicate at dealership. Eloy read there is sensor in the shifter, if the shifter is slightly out of alignment it will not allow start. He knows now to shift out of park and back again if it won't start. But this is new and perplexing. Maybe it's the alternator?? :confused3

Urgh, I think I need to take a break from the taxes. I'm getting a headache.

I'm trying to file state separately on another service because it's $20 less than turbo tax .
Our state form is super easy, basically you pull the info from your federal and plug in a few simple state credit calculations (we get credits/ deductions for child's education expenses).
I've tried two different services recommended by MN, both want me to fill out the federal form from scratch-- again! :headache:
noooooooo, too much work and I have no need to efile federal, it's already done.

Blah!

hey!! 2 weeks till I go on my next DL trip!! :) super excited :) yea I did my taxes and I owe yet again lol :/ oh well so I redid my percentage that is taken out from my pay. so hopefully next yr will be better.

Did I ever tell you about when I was fresh out of high school and was living in my first apartment. One Saturday morning I headed out to work and seen my friend's couch smoldering next to the dumpster (she lived in the same complex). Of course I hopped out of the car and went to see if she was ok. Seems she had a party at her house and someone had dropped a cigarette down the couch cushions. People noticed it smoking (it was a really, really, really old couch) so they took it outside and dumped buckets of water on it to put the fire out.:sad2::rotfl2: I still laugh to this day when I think of her smoldering couch in the middle of the parking lot near the dumpster.:lmao:

I still do my taxes by hand. I tried a program last year and it was a pain in the rear, so I went back to doing it by hand. Much easier for me.:thumbsup2

Have a great trip! Good that you have changed your withholding. Always try to get as close to zero owed or refunded as you can.:thumbsup2

It gave me such a headache that I just paid the fee and now it's done!

In a few months, I will have to revisit the forms to file our property tax refund or known as the "renter's rebate".

Renter's are charged property tax via rent costs. Early summer we file and get a refund based on income and county location, basically an adjustment to overpaid tax. The deposit occurs in August, just in time for school shopping. :thumbsup2

Our car is dead.... we are contemplating getting rid of the beast all together, but we shall see what is wrong first.

E has a love/hate relationship with cars, mostly disgusted with the money sucking aspect .. payments, insurance, maintenance, gas. If he had a choice, we would live without owning a car. Worked well for us when we lived near the city, we didn't have a car until J was 3 yrs old. Yes, I know.. that makes us very odd ducks indeed. But let me tell you, we walked and took the bus.. making us much healthier and happier people. Less temptation to buy buy buy.... when you know you have to find a way to drag it home. :lmao:

B, I thought you guys just got that car? Yeesh! That stinks.

On a bit brighter note... I got to hold little Charlie today!! She is one of the triplets... she was the sickest, and came home first! Can you believe it? Little Eli should be home next Friday. :cool1:

Good thing I have always had a car, our nearest bus stop is about 15 miles away...boy would I REALLY be in shape!:lmao: Sorry you're having car troubles, hopefully you can get it fixed soon or get a new one.

Awwww... Isn't it common that girls come home first? Thought I remembered hearing that somewhere....that in multiples girls tended to come home first. So glad for them, but boy are they going to have their hands full.

Precious little one, soon she will be joined by her siblings.. one big happy family at home. :goodvibes

Oh my goodness!!! So I woke up at 2:45 this morning to a screaming kid. But... Not MY screaming kid. I was sound asleep, and I hear crying. But it didnt sound like one of my kids, so I went back to sleep.. I keep waking up to it.. It sounded really close! So I think maybe it IS one of my kids. I get up to check, and as Im walking past the front door... I realize it is coming from the stairwell. Odd.. We only have one other family in the stairwell, and they dont have little kids. I listen for a minute, and there is NO PARENT! I ran out in the hallway just as the downstairs neighbors are coming out. I can hear them asking.. Do you live upstairs?? Are you from upstairs?? I go down there, and Im like...:scared1: Hes not my kid!! This kid is out.. ALONE.. at 3 in the morning!!! We keep asking where him parents are, and he said they were deployed. He was saying something about them not answering the phone or something. :confused3 We asked where he lived, and he pointed across the complex. The folks downstairs took him home.

Frelan said we should have called the cops, and let them take him home so they can find out why this kid was out at 3 in the morning by himself. He was only like 6 or so. :sad2: Poor kid. It was crazy!

 I hope he was okay. I wonder if he slept walked. My sister used to sleep walk when she was younger. She was in a hotel room with my mom once and walked out of the room and to the elevator. She was about to get on when a man asked if she was okay and woke her up. I shudder to think what could have happened to her.

Crazy is right, sleep walking might be the reason.. why else would he be outside at night??? Weird. And yes, if the police were involved it would be put on record, if it occurs again services would be called to work with the family.

I worry about that with my sister's son, he is given Melatonin every night otherwise he is up all night. Now that he is older it doesn't take long for him to wander off and get in trouble due to his impulsive nature. He usually doesn't wander far and all the neighbors know him... but still worrisome. :worried:

Ok - here I figure I needed to wait until I had time to read up on posts - and just three pages!!! Granted, it doesn't take too many pages to say "RAIN" over and over again :rotfl2:. Pix - I am so bummed I missed you on the trip!!! I thought for sure the rain would scare you away :sad1:. I am glad I got to run into the rest of you - would have rather we skipped grizzly, but sure didn't know that going on the ride :lmao:

Whew - so back, and all is super hectic. DH just let one of his managers go - so we are running pretty lean up here!

I am very excited for our next trip though - it should be interesting . My SIL bailed on the 2bedroom we booked for her (specifically), and it is too late to cancel and save our points. So, we are taking one of our employees (we call him and employee, but we have known him since day one we moved up here, so he is way more of a friend then an employee), his wife and 5yo son. He has never left the state, and is dying to go to disneyland (the employee, not his son) - and he had extra tax money this year - so we invited them with us!!! It will be neat to see his reaction since he has NO idea what he is getting himself into!!!

Wow, that will be tons of fun! Bringing someone new to the park is twice as fun for you, showing them all the really fun parts and teaching them the art of using fastpass. :cutie: The trips when we have brought along other family members were wonderful-- well except for that one with my ever sleeping BIL, but we will just gloss over that as a bad dream.

Hopefully no more RAIN! YESH!

Urgh, sitting on a baby today... I mean watching my 4 yr old dn..

I put Barney on my Netflix, shoot me now to put me out of my misery  so glad my boys never really liked the purple dinosaur. Makes me wanna spew in overly enthusiastic joy and fake laughter while singing farm themed songs in perfect child pitch, gross.
