The U2 Thread - Vertigo Tour

My DH Is the BIGGEST fan I know personally :cheer2: . It is nice to hear others so excited about this concert also. I have been to about 5 concerts, he has been to all of them. I love them in concert, no matter where the seats are, I am there for the sound (through earplugs of course) :rotfl2:

Unfortunatly we were going out of town that weekend so in exchange for 5 babysitting nights my wonderful DBIL bought the tickets for us. Here is the interesting story of how we were MEANT to be at that concert:

My DBIL got to the store deep within the mall and was 3rd (yes that is a 3!!) in line. All the floor was sold out :sad2: . My DH wanted seats anyway :smooth: . So my BIL gets to the front, buys our tix. Just after the tix print, the printer jams :rotfl2: . All the peeps behind him took off for the other Ticketmaster in the mall. The concert is not until October, but we now have something to look forward to this fall.

I just got home after being at the Pond since 6am this morning!! Let me just say...THE SHOW WAS AWESOME!!!!!!! We didn't make it into the ellipse but we did make it onto the GA rail, which was just as good!!

I couldn't be more tired right now so I'll be back tomorrow with some details!! :goodvibes

So glad you had a great time!! I was thinking of you last night around 11 (I'm on the East Coast, so you were at the show), wondering if you had made it into the bomb shelter. That is great that you got to the rail!

What did you think of the setlist? I noticed there was nothing from "Boy", which I am looking forward to seeing. There were some other good ones in there, though. I don't think they can go wrong, with so many great songs from which to choose.

CONTAINS SPOILERS....

In case anyone wants to know this is what they played last night...

For anyone with General Admission, this was our experience:

We arrived at the North entrance to the Pond right around 5:30am and were already 50th in line. We were split into 2 lines as I guess was done in San Diego. We were let into the Pond about 6:20ish. Once through security our tickets we scanned twice. Once for entrance and once to see if we were selected to enter the ellipse. All 4 of us were told to proceed to the floor (bummer!!). Anyway about 6:40 we were standing at the GA rail about 5 feet from center. Truly awesome spot!!! Bono and the Edge stood within arms reach several times. The sound was fantastic, the show was amazing. Money & time well spent. I must now find tickets to the 4/5 or 4/6 Staples show since there's no way I can't wait until Fall!!!

If anyone needs any info or has any questions let me know.

My friends didn't get tickets

Oh well, it was a long shot I guess, given the number of people competing for the tickets!

Awww, really? :guilty: Well, not sure if you've heard but there's rumors of a November Vegas show!! If there's any chance you can make it out to Vegas you could just make it into a quick getaway.

kicken thread!!!

So, who's going where to see the best rock band in the world and how many shows are ya going to? Going to Boston and hoping for MSG and dream about Dublin but not gonna happen this time.

Hi Dave,
I went to the Anaheim 4/1 show...it was of course, amazing!!! Over the weekend, I got a great deal on some cheap seats for tonight in Los Angeles so we'll be there as well. For the Fall leg I have GA's for the 11/2 Los Angeles show & 11/4 Vegas show. I did have tickets for the MSG show but had to sale them when I realized we were going to a wedding that weekend (bummer). I'll be excited to hear about the Boston shows!!!

BTW, I too would love to see them in Dublin!!

Hi Dave,

I'm only going to one show because that's all the budget would allow this time--Boston, 5/26. Can't wait!

Have a great time tonight, Dizneyholic.

Which show are you going to in Boston Dave?

I will be going 5/24 (presale tix), 5/28 with GA's   , 10/4 (Prop presale) and 12/5. I can not wait! I too would love to be heading to Ireland to see them but it's not in the cards for me. Enjoy the shows everyone!

hi all~

I'm going to may 28 and october 3. They are not the best seats but they are seats none the less! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I'm going to MSG October 8th! That will be my next thing to look forward to after our Disney trip! I'm taking my daughter to the U2 concert, I hope she realizes how lucky she is, she is 8.

Just back from the Los Angeles show last night!! This was a last minute ticket purchase so our seats were in Section 316, row 5. Staples Center is pretty big so the seats were somewhat far but overall not a bad place to sit!!
The sound traveled perfectly up to us!! For me, the best part about last night is Bono broke into an acoustic version of Unchained Melody. It's not listed on the setlist as it was only a verse or two long but it was beautiful. They had all the lights off and everyone still had their cell phones out. I'm sad I now must wait until Nov to see them again!!
I love U2!! :cloud9:

Can't wait to hear about everyone else's show(s)!!!

Hi all,

Just wanted to pass along a great show!! VH1 is featuring U2 on their spotlight program. They go behind the scenes of putting the Vertigo tour together.

It's airing again Thursday, 4/21 (1:30/12:30am central)

Here's some more info...
U2 on VHI

I watched the show over the weekend and it was great. I can't wait for May to come! :rockband:

Any U2 fans on the DIS going to any of the Toronto shows? I really, really want to go, to the point where I am willing to pay higher prices on e-Bay or resellers! Trouble is, my friends probably will NOT be willing.

So, do I go alone - is that totally crazy? I'm a 37 year old woman - will I be safe there alone? Will have fun there alone?

Next - do I get general admission, or try for seats? The seats are so expensive - the only ones I can afford are nosebleed seats - are those even worth getting? Would I see or hear anything worthwhile? Will GA be dangerous from the p.o.v. of being crushed against a wall of people etc.?

Has anyone been to a concert at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto? Any idea what seats NOT to get?

I just don't know what to do. I have always wanted to see a U2 concert, but living on the tiny island of Barbados have never had an opportunity to be near a concert until now. I can be in Toronto for all 4 tour dates, so any of the dates will work.

Any thoughts?

Hi there,

Well, I haven't been to anymore shows since 4/6 in Los Angeles. Luckily, I have GA's to LA again 11/2 and Vegas 11/4. However, not sure I can wait that long!! :bounce:

I'll try to answer some of your questions Bajanswife...

Absolutely go alone if you're able and willing!! I've seen and heard of quite a few people going on their own...I would do it in a heartbeat! Of course, it's always fun to have someone to share the experience with but you'll meet all kinds of great people at a U2 concert!!
As for whether or not to get GA or seats. I had GA in Anaheim, CA and then nosebleeds in LA. Personally, GA is the way to go!! Although, we waited in line for 12 hours, we met lots of people and the time truly flew by. As I've posted before, at 6am we were 50th inline and got a great spot on the railing, about 5 feet from center. Being that we were up against the rail at the very front of GA we didn't get pushed around at all!! In fact, the people behind us played poker with us while waiting in line and really respected our space. I've heard a few people who were in the middle of GA say they were pushed around a bit but nothing scary. I haven't been to Toronto so I can't help with the arena info but ticketmaster claims the seating capacity is 18,000 to 20,000 so it's not a huge place. Just a tad bigger than The Pond in Anaheim and just about every seat in there is good.

Anyway, good luck and have a great time!!! Can't wait to hear back!

BTW I also wanted to tell everyone that I picked up a copy of Bono in conversation with Michka Assayas and it's a great read!!
