The things you see at Wal Mart

But to classify Wal MArt, and the people who shop there, to me, is a bit extreme.

It's hard not to make generalizations, though, when 90% of the Wal-Marts in your area are just AWFUL. As I said in a previous post, out of the 6 WM's I've been to in my area, only one of them is nice. The rest are trashed, with rude and/or incompetent employee's AND customers (not all customers, but many). If all WM's in my area were like the nice one, my opinion would be vastly differant.

In a way, those that say "Well my WM's are just fine" are also generalizing, because they have never been in a bad WM, and think that all WM's must be nice!

She was wearing a see through white nightgown as a DRESS!!! She was wearing a bra(luckily), white granny panties, a down jacket and knee high boots with fur trim. (Must have been mighty chilly for her.)

WHAT!!! NO PICTURES?

I have to agree. The Wal-mart in my area is worse the worse store I've seen. Any other WM I visited hasn't been nice either.

I don't judge people I see in WalMart or elsewhere. I don't know what is going on in their life. I haven't walked a mile in their shows so who am I to judge?

I shop at Wal Mart, and I have no problems with them.

Just a couple of observations on the comments made here. These dregs of society that so many posters have complained about here, do you see them anywhere else? Do they drive into the parking lot of Wal Mart as normal every day people and suddenly emerge from their vehicles transformed into hideous, cartoonish figures lacking IQ and teeth? Personally, I see people that are "different" everywhere, not just Wal Mart. Try reading a couple of threads on the other boards about "Stangest Things You've Seen at Disney" or "Grossest Things You've Witnessed". It would seem that a lot of these Wal Mart types are showing up at WDW. Why do you think that happens? Could it be because WDW has the largest attendence of people each year in the amusment park industry? If you accept that idea then could these numerous sitings at Wal Mart be because they are the largest retailer in the world? When I read the comments about people seen at Wal Mart with pj's on, or lice in their hair, or obese, or toothless, or anything else that people have mentioned I read it as a comment on society as a whole, not just Wal Mart. How many here are going to refuse to go to WDW ever again because of the type people you see there? Where you shop or don't shop is your personal decision based on all the factors that make you, you. Income, age, cultural background, upbringing, convienience, location, availability, etc. all determine the reasons why you shop where you shop. Obviously, like it or not a lot of people choose Wal Mart. If you don't good for you, its your choice.

I would love to complain to corporate, however dear SO has a softer heart than I do and believes that these people were never taught how to behave or act in public yet alone the workplace and they may need their jobs and if we complain they could possibly lose their jobs.
So you are such a kind-hearted person that you don't want them to get into trouble but then you come here and call them "ghetto"?

To me if someone I don't know starts waving at me, I think they are trying to tell me my skirt is hanging out my door.

I've never noticed them driving. I have seen them lumber off the buses like zombies from the Dawn of the Dead!

I usually get depressed when I go there. We have a Super Walmart and a regular Walmart. The Super one has less of the trashy people there. (when I say trashy-I mean screaming swear words at your 2 yr old son who is only wearing a diaper in a store) I'm sorry if it makes people mad, but it is so true that you don't usually see those type of people at Target! I feel so bad for those little kids- flame away

Same here. In the summer I went to one and there were two mothers with young babies chain smoking outside the entrance. I felt bad for those babies.
I only will go to Walmart if they are the only vendor that has something I need. The ones that I've been to are not in the safest neighborhoods.

I said my SO (READ: Significant other) is a kind-hearted person, who rather not complain, my SO doesn't want me to compain to corporate about it so I don't. Never once did I say every person in Walmart was ghetto, you do not know where I live or how the neighborhood where walmart is near me.

I live in an affluent area, we have a target and it is nicely maintained, great management, great employees. 15 miles away, there is a walmart, in a not so nice area where a percentage of people that shop there work low wage jobs or they get benefits from the state. (Which by the way, I have no problem with, people are down on their luck and it can be difficult to find a job, there are economic differences in a variety of different people). However, I said that Walmart is SOOOOO Ghetto and when I say that, (which by the way I mentioned in a previous post, did you read that) the employees are rude, they aren't helpful, they talk on the cell phone with friends instead of helping the customers, they don't wear bras, but they do where belly tops, they don't take care of their appearance, they yell to one employee to another aisles away, if you ask for help they walk away or they say, "I ain't doing no mo work this aint my department". That in my opinion is Ghetto.

Different people have different opinions of what is Ghetto and what is not Ghetto.

All I simply stated was that they walmart near me was ghetto.

Hello? Yes we see "those types" of people everywhere else--they just seem to accumulate at Walmart. Maybe some of you would feel better if we started a thread about the rich witches at Saks????

im visiting wdw in december and I am looking forard to a trip to walmart, I have never noticed anything odd there before, the prices there are alot cheeper than in the stores in the uk

I'm going to go hug my local Wal-Mart managers. :teeth:

Our Wal-Marts (three of them locally) are clean and community oriented; it's a rare thing for there to be someone working who isn't friendly and helpful. They run fundraisers, give scholorships from funds collected by and from the local Wal-Mart workers, and do lots of things for food pantrys and local organizations.

Call me Ghetto, call me White Trash, I still love my Wal-Mart. :goodvibes

::yes:: I have been to some very nice Walmarts (actually Super Centers) in FL. I would have to drive hours to find a nice one around here. For those who think those of us who complain about Walmart are making it up or exaggerating I can certainly provide you with addresses of some truly atrocious specimens.

I don't think it's an exaggeration - or being made up - what I do think is the majority of the problems fall on management (in terms of cleanliness, etc.) - and as for the patrons themselves, I would venture to guess that those sort of people can be found everywhere - even Target - if one chooses to sit around and scrutinize every customer that walks in and out of the store.. I think the only time I might actually "notice" another customer - regardless of where I was shopping - is if they vomited on me or knocked me to the floor.. LOL I'm there to shop - not pick apart the other customers..

Yes I am at Wally World far too often, (and probably Target too) but they do have the best prices for us! Tide, Charmin, Pampers, shampoos and soaps are the same everywhere, I guess I am not willing to pay more just so my DDs and I don't have to see "those kinds" of people,(whatever that means)> I was a restaurant (Chuck E Cheese) manager while in college believe me you see all walks of life there- just like most places. Our 2 Walmarts near us are great, one is a bit better maintained than the other, I wish we had a Super Walmart! Target is a bit out of the way for us and doesn't seem to have as much of some things.

There's a Walmart about 5 minutes from WDW that was new when we went in June and it's great! They have a huge Disney souvenir section.

At Wal-Mart a couple of weeks ago I noticed that the woman walking in front of me had on see-through black stretch pants. They looked old and threadbare. When I did a double take I noticed that she wasn't wearing underwear. Okay, first of all, she shouldn't have been wearing stretch pants, see-through or otherwise, and second did I mention she she wasn't wearing anything under them? I wasn't sure if I should have been grateful that I only saw her from the back.
