What about the visable head lice :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

Sorry, just had to bring that one back up :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Walk in just about any school - at certain times of the year - and you'll see the same thing.. More than likely the head lice was caught from a school age child and perhaps the customer was there to purchase the necessary medication for treatment.. Unless you walked right up to her and asked her, then you really don't know the circumstances - do you? ;)

I said my SO (READ: Significant other) is a kind-hearted person, who rather not complain, my SO doesn't want me to compain to corporate about it so I don't. Never once did I say every person in Walmart was ghetto, you do not know where I live or how the neighborhood where walmart is near me.
First of all, I DID read but apparently you did not since you are obviously very confused. I never once said anything about your neighborhood or where you live. Since I am capable of thinking for myself and making my own decisions, I would not assume that someone would do something simply because their SO made them do it.

The 7 years DD has been in school, we've never had a case of head lice at her school no matter what time of year it is.

Same for the school district my children attended - until high school.. There was a very large outbreak in the majority of the surrounding school districts (problably 15 districts at least).. Upscale neighborhood schools - not inner city.. It can - and does - happen anywhere - sooner or later.. I wouldn't base any opinion on a mere 7 years..

I have 3 kids ranging from 23 to 6. Lucky for us we have never had to deal with lice. I believe we came close this year because someone in the same grade as DD had it but that was it. I have also never walked into any elementary school in my 15 years in them and saw lice jumping around like the one Anne described. That is just plain disgusting. If my child came down with lice you can bet I'd have more sense then to parade her around a store while I bought some lice killer. Just goes to show who shops in some Walmarts.

I've never seen lice "jumping around on anyones head" anywhere.. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Why do you think a school nurse has to pick carefully through a child's hair to find them after the child has been continually scratching their head? :rotfl2:

Or maybe the head lice on the customers in Walmart are the size of those palmetto bugs.. :rotfl2:

All kinds of people can get head lice. No one is immune. Usually the parents who can, care to to and have the money to treat head lice get rid of it it the first go around. However, there are kids whose parents don't have it together enough to actually get rid of it so it'll keep spreading. It takes effort to get rid of. Your child can get lice from hanging their jacket next to someone's who has it.
Lice has never been a problem at our school but our city and county school usually have an outbreak at least one or twice a year. There is one school is our city system who doesn't tell the parents of the outbreak because those parents would be awfully upset (you know, they think they're too good & it won't happen to them) so they keep quiet. :rotfl:

"Just goes to show who shops in some Walmarts." is a very rude remark. :earseek:

Okay, I didn't reply to the other thread (that Walmart v. Target thread), but...

I've just got to say, in my neck of the woods, I have never shopped in a Target that wasn't clean, well organized, well stocked, well staffed or had weird customers. (i.e. scary looking people).

WalMart, on the other hand, was a disaster. Cluttered aisles, indifferent employees, out-of-stock items and CREEPY customers (as in I was keeping a close eye on my purse).

I am not a judgmental person when it comes to income of other folks, but my personal security is another matter.

If it offends other people to hear that I do not want to spend my time around shifty people, then either they're wearing rose colored glasses, or they aren't being honest.

Deciding to shop in a nicer store (whether that store is Target, or the "good Walmart" on the other side of town) is not much different than deciding that you would prefer to live in a safe neighborhood, or want for your kids to be enrolled in a good public school system.

I am not interested in shopping in a store that screams chaos and low class (and class is not dependent on income, btw) just to satisfy someone's idea that it doesn't matter where you shop, people are people, and people aren't dangerous, and judging them based on their appearance is wrong. "Someone else" (who seems to care so much about offending the "dregs of society," as one poster put it) won't care about how I feel when I have been assaulted (either verbally or physically) or robbed by said dregs. And yes, you can tell things from people based on their appearance (ever see a crazy person's eyes? or the eyes of a predator? those eyes are often attached to an unkempt person).

Okay, stepping off my soapbox now.

If you happen to live in an area where the Walmart shoppers are "shifty people", then by all means, shop where you feel more secure..

The point is that not ALL Walmarts are the way they have been painted here..

Just to add what might be a little known fact about head lice.... They actually prefer a clean head of hair to a dirty one.
When the hair is clean it tends to be drier and therefore is easier to latch onto. When it's dirty or hasn't been washed then hair gets oily and the lice have a harder time latching on.
So you can wash your hair daily and actually have more chance of getting head lice. Just thought I'd throw that out there for anyone whose interested or has dealt with it.

Great! Now you just blew the "everyone who walks into Walmart is a toothless, shifty-eyed, trashy dresser, with head lice that can leap tall buildings in a single bound"! :rotfl2:

:rotfl: Well, actually, I buy my rain ponchos for WDW at Walmart (they have hoods :teeth: ). And people at WDW stop me and ask me where we bought them too! :rotfl2:

But I was thinking of those super hero lice who can leap tall buildings in a single bound---super hero lice needs capes. Little tiny lice capes... ;) Well, not that tiny--palmetto bug size! :rotfl:

They don't NEED capes.. Have you ever seen the wing span on head lice? Makes a 747 look like a gnat................................. I'm surprised that people don't keel over with concussions when they "jump" on them.........

747s :rotfl: God, as a hairdresser if I ever see lice like those I'll keel over!!! :rotfl2:

This comment upsets me. I am not one to join in on some of the debates on this board but I will not let this one go. I shop at Walmart all the time. I am sorry if you think that people who do shop there might ruin your town. While I agree that SOME people might be offensive- ALL the people that shop there aren't and I do not appreciate being put down like this. BTW we have a Super Walmart and a Super Target directly across the street from each other (Walmart was there first) It is a very upscale town and has grown quite a bit since we moved in 5 years ago.

I am not flaming people who shop at Walmart. In Hawaii, we are held hostage to Walmart. There is not a Target or a viable other choice, unfortunately. So, basically you see everyone here at Walmart and most of us wish we could be shopping someplace else. Many of us also wish we had a Target.
