The things you see at Wal Mart

First of all, I DID read but apparently you did not since you are obviously very confused. I never once said anything about your neighborhood or where you live. Since I am capable of thinking for myself and making my own decisions, I would not assume that someone would do something simply because their SO made them do it.

1. I didn't say that you never said anything about my neighborhood or where I live, I was informing you of where I live so you can get a better understanding.
2. I thought it was normal for people to respect the wishes of the SO, it would be my wife but since marriage isn't legal it's my SO.
3. Most importantly, never did I say anything unkind to you, as you did to me by calling me confused. Was that necessary? Have a problem with me for so reason that you would like to mention to the boards, or are you just the argumentative type?

hmmmm i've avoided this thread,, but i cant stand it any longer,, we shop at wal mart, i go in in my paint stained overalls and work shirts,, even wear the ones in there with my name sewn over the pockets. i go there because there is no viable cost effective alternative here, but you know what,, if we had a target i would still be in my worn dirty workj clothes. i happen to own my business and am an employee of the same,, i paint,, i build things, and i look the part. does that make my money any less green? should i be classed lower than the guy in stage with his three piece suit and tie that are probably on a credit card,, whlie i carry several hundred bucks in cash? you find people of all types , income levels etc in all of these stores, yeah if the stores in a bad nieghborhood then you are more likely to find people from that nieghborhood,,and if it was in a nice nieghborhood the mode of dress , or value of the vehicles in the lots would be better, but ya know,,, this is america, founded on and made greta by the fact that here you can find all kinds of people who are gasp created equal. it doewsnt matter where you live where you shop etc.

this thread has gone too far, the fact that the op saw a person whose mode of dress was inappropriate has noithing to do with where she was. maybe this person was mentally incapacitated, maybe she was doing it on adare,, i've seen worse dares pulled off in my time, i've seen people that really honestly had to go when they went, maybe this was a mom in a rush to get medicines for her kids. maybe it was someone who was doing laundry, and was out of soap, maybe the baby was out of diapers, who knows. what difference does it make where she was?

Walk in just about any school - at certain times of the year - and you'll see the same thing.. More than likely the head lice was caught from a school age child and perhaps the customer was there to purchase the necessary medication for treatment.. Unless you walked right up to her and asked her, then you really don't know the circumstances - do you? ;)

You missed the point. This case of lice had obviously been going on for more than a few days. My mom told me that it looked like she had probably had the infestation for at least a couple weeks judging by the number of clearly visable nits and the bugs dropping off her head onto her shirt. And we won't mention the mother with her FILTHY ripped clothing with not only stains on them, but "fresh" food that was pretty much just smeared on her pants, like she had sat on a PB&J, wiped off what she could with her hands, and left the rest to fester.

Granted, they could have been found anywhere, but my guess is that they wouldn't have been shopping in Neiman Marcus.

I've never seen lice "jumping around on anyones head" anywhere.. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Why do you think a school nurse has to pick carefully through a child's hair to find them after the child has been continually scratching their head? :rotfl2:

Or maybe the head lice on the customers in Walmart are the size of those palmetto bugs.. :rotfl2:

They were not "jumping". The nits were clearly visable, there must have been thousands of them--her head look like it was covered in dirty snow. There were active bugs dropping from her head onto her shoulders. That says to me that clearly this child was so infested that probably the best remedy would have been to shave her head. It was in the summertime, otherwise my guess is the school nurse would have ended up putting her out of school and probably called Child Protective it was so bad.

I'm sorry - don't mean to be difficult, but this just doesn't happen with head lice.. They are always under the hair - not crawling around on top of it, don't "drop" off on to clothing (although they will "attach" to a hat that is securely on ones head), and the nits wouldn't be visible unless your mom had her face pressed right into the woman's hair and was separating the strands with her fingers (and even that would be iffy - thus those extremely fine nit combs that are used to locate and remove them).. I worked in several different school districts over the years and have plenty of experience with how head lice is detected.. "Visual" is not one of them..

Same for the school district my children attended - until high school.. There was a very large outbreak in the majority of the surrounding school districts (problably 15 districts at least).. Upscale neighborhood schools - not inner city.. It can - and does - happen anywhere - sooner or later.. I wouldn't base any opinion on a mere 7 years..

You are the one that said:

Sure its a mere seven years but according to you it happens all the time in all schools. I was just pointing out that was incorrect.

I never said we saw active adult lice crawling on her hair. We saw them on her shoulders. The nits--there were many thousands of them--were visable on the hair shafts, even from a distance. When there are that many of them, you can see them. Bascially her head was so full of lice that every time she scratched--which was pretty much none stop, she lost a bug or two onto her shoulder. I'm talking an absolute infestation that had been ongoing for some time. That's why I said that probably the only effective way to treat this child was to shave the head.

No - I didn't say "all" schools - "all" the time.. I said "sooner or later".. ;)

Good grief! Your story has changed so many times I can't even keep track of it anymore.. Was it "you" - or was it your "mom" - or was it "both" of you?

I stand by my original explanation (and experience) of how and when lice can be detected - no matter how bad the infestation is..

And just because you as the mom don't hear about it doesn't mean it doesn't show up. My sister has never been told about her kid's school having it (after all, they have a reputation, ya know) but I do a teacher's hair from that school and she has told me more than once about someone going home with lice. I then pass that info on to my sister who freaks out!! LOL

But, it may not have happened at your DD's school yet. Hasn't happened at mine either.

Well, anyway, this thread has showed us many things. Above all, I'll be watching out for lice at my nearest Walmart.

How has my story changed? I never said they were jumping--that was someone else. We were both there, together. My mom was the one who made the comment it was the worst infestation she ahd ever seen. I have commented here but not that day that it was so bad they probably would have had to shave her head. My story has never changed. I've added a little detail and commentary, as you seem to think I am lying about the situation. I'm not, why would I? If you read what I have written--not others comments on my posts, you'll see my story hasn't changed at all.

This is very true.. Many schools will not send home a notice until there is a "major" problem simply so they don't have to put up with hysterical parents screaming about "how could this happen?"..

I stand corrected - the "jumping" remark was made by another poster.. Sorry for that bit of confusion..

However, in Post #8 you said, "The daughter had head lice so bad you could see the white nits from about 8 feet away and she had a few active bugs that dropped out of her hair on her shoulders."
-------------------------------------
Nits are not "white" - they are tranlucent - and would be impossible to see from 8 ft. away..
---------------------------------------

Then in Post # 148 you said, "The nits were clearly visable, there must have been thousands of them - her hair looked like it was covered with dirty snow. There were active bugs dropping from her head onto her shoulders."
---------------------------------

Again, they are translucent - you would not have been able to see "thousands" of them from 8 ft. or even two feet. That's what makes them so difficult to find without fingering through ones hair and making use of a nit comb. As for the active bugs dropping from her head to her shoulders, read my previous posts..

I have to run over to Walmart later today.. Right now I'm thumbing through the phone book trying to find a place where I can rent a Hazmat suit.. One can never be "too" safe, you know... :rotfl:
