Oh Brother, what a day!

Did you guys know it is Dr. Seuss's 100th B-day today? I read Green Eggs and Ham, Marvin K. Mooney will you please go now, and ABCs in Joseph's K class this morning. That went really well. Then his teacher told me that he is still having major problems with testing. She thinks he needs another year in Kindergarten so that he will be able to enter 1st grade with the best tools and attitude. We're taking him to the Dr. on Monday. Another teacher thinks he's too young to be tested for any disorder or syndrome. (I hate those words- they sound so terrible) I don't know what to do. Joseph doesn't want to be in a different room than his bestest friend but others have told me that he may remember some in his K class but that it won't really affect him if he repeats next year. I hope not. I want to do whatever it takes to give him the best chance possible. Then after every other bit of running around I had to do I went to the 6th grade mtg. Hopefully we'll be working on the yearbook soon so everthing is going well there. I'm just so upset with myself for putting him into Kindergarten maybe too early. He turned 5 after 3 weeks. He's always been active and very emotional and he can get very angry and say he's not listening to anyone anymore but I don't know when his acting his age turns into a problem. I'm so confused over this. Sorry for the long post but I just had to get this out before I go bawling all over the place.

[COLOR=FF00CC]disneyluvers[/COLOR], . I don't have much advice as my oldest is 4 1/2. He turns 5 this summer (July), but I am waiting to start Kindergarten until next year. He is going to do 3 days/week pre-school this fall. What kind of testing do they do at his age?

OK, tonight's dinner was Pork Tenderloin, Rice-a-Roni & green beans out of a can. No dessert.

Oh [COLOR=FF00CC]disneyluvers[/COLOR], I wouldn't worry too much about having your DS repeat kindergarten. I spent 2 years in nursery and a year in kindergarten, my younger sister did a year in nursery and 2 in kindergarten. I think that was much better and easier to deal with than having to repeat a grade later on. My older sister ended up moving back into 2nd grade from 3rd and that was lots harder. She was the youngest in the 3rd grade - her birthday is right at the beginning of September. Although socially it was difficult on her, academically it was the best thing. That's why I think my parents held both me and my younger sister back before we hit 1st grade. We were more mature and better able to handle expectations and school work.

Okay, you all were very chatty again today! It takes a long time to catch up on everything! [COLOR=FF00CC]disneyluvers[/COLOR] I would not worry too much if he was kept back; it is easier now than at third grade where four years of friendships have been established. He probably will not even remember much of this as he gets older. My DS (13) only vaguely remembers much of kindergarten. PD to you! ohanafamily,best to you in the work trials and tribulations! RRBB, happy travels!

PD and well wishes to all the flu bugs, sniffles, and pink itchy chicky pox!

Dinner tonight was fried chicken (skinless breasts: BORING!), mashed potatoes and gravy. Had to eat in shifts with DH coming home later and we had to head out immediately to a band concert for DS. Do you know how hard it is to sit and listen to small ensembles of middle school kids? I think only two songs of the 15 were songs I did not have to squint my eyes with the music a little! DS plays percussion, <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12_1_40.gif' border=0></a>so he did not have much in this one song! Hardest part was to sit on those hard metal chairs for two hours with my stupid back problem.

Well, gotta get ready for bed; I am pooped! Sleep tight!

Hi all, Isn't PLUTO Mickey's dog? OK, I'm better now... I really feel bad that I was part of that whole planetary discussion; I thought we got a little out of hand, but since work has been a little stressful last week, I needed the release...

I love Dogs...

Got a check-up tomorrow morning, so I'll be late for work...can't even take DW to the airport...Yuck... Have to meet the enemy tomorrow AM too...you known the one with all of the numbers on it that tells the Dr. how bad you've been eating....Oh well, you eats your pepperoni pizza, you gains a pound.....



Our dinner was Subway Sandwiches...Anyone see Mickilee Beetlejuice around lately?

[color=FF00CC]disneyluvers[/color] we had my 14 yr old boy do kindergarden 2x. It was the best move we ever made. He is now an older 8th grader which makes him very popular with the girls-did I say this was a good move You've got a good head on your shoulders. Follow your gut. And as far as testing, he sounds like a perfectly normal 5 yr old!!! Trust me-been there done that!! Hang n there!!

Good morning everyone! I don't know if geffric is bringing breakfast. (Has she lost the waffle maker?) How about a buckshot bagel? DMIL brought them back from Toledo, they're actually egg bagels with lots of poppy seed on them. Very yummy. disneyluvers, I think you are very fortunate to have a school that will let him repeat kindergarten if it's needed. Our school system will not hold someone back in kindergarten. They wait until after 1st grade and do it then if necessary. One thing they do that I do like though, they send the child back and forth from kindergarten for the things he/she is struggling in and most of the time if the parent is able to work with the child too, they catch up and are able to continue on with their original class. The biggest problem will be when he is in 6th/7th grade and maturity issues kick in. We sent Daniel to private school this year because he has always been a little on the immature side. He's hanging on to being a kid and so many of his peers are way ahead of him. His grades are good, always honor roll, it has nothing to do with that. Anyway, we chose private school for the smaller environment and are hoping by the time he goes to 9th, he will be in a better place to handle what's out there. BUT, if I had it to do over, I wouldn't have started him in kindergarten for another year and he turned 5 in March! Boys usually do not progress as quickly as girls.

Sorry for the rant. Don't know if I helped you any. But I would definetly look at this as a good thing. I doubt that he will think much about it once he gets involved with his new class next year and maybe you could try and have him meet some of the kids he will be with over the summer and form some new friendships.

I am off to the Dr. Office to get reprimanded...Just worked out, and don't really have time to shower...waiting for DW to come downstairs to kiss her goodbye...I am starting to miss her allready... Sniff. Too bad I already have 2 countdown timers running, or I would set one for when she gets back...OK, she said no pouting...But I miss Her and she hasn't left yet....

This is worse than all of the office politics. Them I can laugh at after I get over the frustration....

Good morning, well since you were all talking about dinner I had a baked chicken breast with some spagetti sauce over it to give it a little zip and a salad.

Disneyluver please don't be upset. Your little one will do just fine. I know at first it can be a shock to hear you son may have a learning issue or something like that but follow your instinct. If I've learned nothing with dealing with my son a mother's instinct is usually right. And if you don't like what one specialist says go to another.

Now that we are at breakfast time I was very good this morning as a matter of fact I'll be good all week as Sat night me and DH are going out to eat. Let's just say it involves chocolate cake.

I'm with you [COLOR=FF66CC]llebrekniT[/COLOR], I'm a chocolate 'purist'. I prefer mine straight. However, nuts and chocolate are my favorite mix....like that crunch mixed in. The ONLY acceptable fruit/chocolate combination is strawberries!

I had a really tasty low carb dessert last night. Breyers Carb Smart vanilla ice cream with a Russell Stover Low Carb toffee square smashed up and sprinkled over the top. A very nice change of pace from jello with whipped cream.

Cheeringmom, I'd love (I mean REALLY) a pumpernickle bagel, toasted, with butter and just a soupcon of cream cheese. (Use one French word a day, it's good for the soul....and figuring out how to spell it is good for the brain!) Oh, and a nice hot cup of Earl Grey tea (decaf).

OK, too much food talk. Must go make an omelet (not French, Latin, lamella, small plate, may also be spelled omelette)
