Ok folks, you all have to leave me alone for a couple of days. I absolutely have to finish my trip reports.

What is Braunsweiger? Is that a liverwurst?

As you guys know, my parents are off-the-boat krauts (it's not politically incorrect to say these things when they are your own relatives ;) ). Needless to say, I grew up with things like (sorry, I ate 'em, but I can spell 'em):

Bratwurst
Knockwurst
Metwurst
Liverwurst
Bloodwurst (yuk!)
Pork Hockeys (I forgot to say that I hate animal fat and grizzle!)
Limburger cheese (yuk!)
Hand Cheese with music (the music is the onions :teeth: )
Sauerbraten (sauerbraten is NOT regular gravy with vinegar added  Sheesh!)

Handkase????? UGH Looks good but tastes gross! My favorite with the neu wein was zweiblekuchen. I know I'm butchering the spelling but I sure miss new wine time! Tastes like Koolaid but will knock you on your booty!!

Ache du leiber Gott in Himmel! Cadburysmom has a date with a dentist?!?! We will require a full date report when you get back!

Yup, handcase mit muzic. LOL! But I've never heard of zweibelkuchen. Is zweibel the German word for onion? How about this dessert (spelled how its pronounced)--schvatz velder kearsh tort. Yummmmmm!! And it's fun to say.

OMG! :bounce: The sun came out, and it's 60 degrees. Me thinks it's a Saranac Light night. Darned! It's Lent and DH is Catholic. We know what that means. Anyone have any good fish or seafood on the grill recipes? Please, no salmon, and I'm not in the mood for tuna. Can we get going on that please? ;)

Oh, tonight's question:

When was your last date?

(And it can't be date night with your SO!) I mean "real" date with a guy (or girl) you've never been out with before.

Mine would be February of 1985. My first real date with DH (after we met in a dance club  ). We went to see Beverly Hills Cop. After the movie, I think we went up to the SU hill (to a bar  ). OMG 19 years is a long time. That is half of my life.

Bichon Barb why bother with fish.. eat dessert first..

How about swordfish on th grill if you have room after the flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and a good merlot..

Hey Geffric, that reminds me. Someone had asked what your favorite chcolate combo is. I never answered. I would definitely say raspberry. Mmmmmm. Schvatz welder kersch torte. :teeth:

Swordfish, huh? I'd have to be careful not to over cook it right? Does it get dry like tuna? Hmmmmm. With a nice big salad and those little red new potatoes with rosemary and garlic. And of course a bottle of Merlot? Hmmmmmm. :scratchin

Grilled Swordfish With Rosemary
A simple white wine marinade makes this grilled swordfish special.
Rosemary is used in both the marinade and a lemon and olive oil sauce that is
served over the fish. Prep Time: approx. 10 Minutes. Cook Time: approx. 10
Minutes. Ready in: approx. 1 Hour 20 Minutes. Makes 4 servings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1/2 cup white wine
5 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary
4 (4 ounce) swordfish steaks
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
4 slices lemon, for garnish

Directions
1 Combine wine, garlic, and 1 teaspoon rosemary in an 8 inch square baking dish. Sprinkle fish
with salt and pepper; place in baking dish, turning to coat. Cover, and chill at least 1 hour.
2 Combine remaining 1 teaspoon rosemary, lemon juice, and olive oil in a small bowl. Set aside.

3 Start a charcoal fire, or preheat a gas grill.
4 Spray grill grate with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Remove fish from marinade, and
cook over hot coals for 4 to 5 minutes on each side.
5 Transfer to a serving platter, or to individual plates. Spoon lemon mixture over fish,
garnish with lemon wedges, and serve immediately.

BTW did anyone notice that 2 weeks from RIGHT NOW that we will be in the cab on the way to the airport... for our CRUISE>>>>

Thanks dudette! (You lucky bum.)

I've never been on a cruise. :( I'm deprived.

geffric, take Rick Joe with you!!!;)

Bichon Barb, your day will come... zweibelkuchen ( I used your spelling) is not a dessert, it is a bread type thingy with onions on top. I think it is usually eaten with soup and such.

and I don't remember my last date, I guess it would be officially a day before I got married...

I can share a Worst Date Story...or is that another question?

RickinNYC, how can you do this to us, just go off into lurkdom.....;) I also posted on your thread...

Good idea Barb.. that is the trip we could all take

and still have family time, and some get rid of the kids time and then all sit with Joe and Rick at dinner..

ok who is up for a DCL cruise 2005???

Oh, and cadburysmom, you go girl... I would avoid the movie "Little Shop of Horrors", but it sounds nice. See what you get when you don't bite his hand?
;)

Oh, and I would avoid the Planetarium too...
(I had to...please don't hurt me...)

I think RRBB and I might be up for the Cruise...or at least talked into it. It just depends on when...End-of May/Early June?

:bounce:

ohanafamily it would have to be when the kids are out of school...My kids don't get out of school until mid June.. would july work for you??

Double-ditto from me. We need you!<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_17_11.gif' border=0></a> We love you! Don't even think about not coming here for days, unless you mean the weekend, which you never come here anyway on the weekend.

What's all this talk about a 2005 cruise? How did you know I wanted to go in 2005? Now if we can just change DHB's mind...........

But, I don't want to go during choppy-water season.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_6_11.gif' border=0></a>

I like the date horror story idea better. Let's go with it. I'm gonna have to think about his one.

Geffric, a cruise sounds great. I better start saving now. :earseek:

Having No Kids, I have to give the "Break Times" up for the people in my office who are on a more restrictive schedule. I can probably figure out when I can go...

:bounce:

GEFFRIC could you use the same recipe with Salmon? Looks yummy!!! But I'm not a big swordfish fan

I have never tried it with salmon.. but i would imagine it would be good.. and i try not to forget the TV chef's way of cooking with wine.. first one has to try the wine and make sure that it will be good for the recipes, then some for the recipes and then the rest for me..

I'm so out of the loop all of a sudden.

We don't much care for fish, unless it's battered and deep-fried the way it's meant to be.:teeth:

I've never been on a date except for my DH, does that count? And I don't really have a date horror story. Oh wait, there's one that will make any parents of teenagers scared. It worries me already.

I was 16, but I wasn't allowed to date. The only way we were able to date was for me to stay the night with my friend as a cover. She would go on her date, while I went on my mine. Her mom was in on it. We were supposed to go to a movie, but we preferred to just sit in his car and talk and kiss. (I know, I know, sorry DHB). Anyway, that's really and truly all we were up to, but time went by quick and before we knew it - it was 11:48, we were told to be back at midnight, and we were in the mall parking lot, oh I'd say about 26 miles from my friend's house.

I swear on a stack of bibles, we made it at exactly 12:01. He had an old hot rod type of car with a really fast engine and I know we did 120 in the straight stretches.

I think about it now and I don't know how we didn't die that night. I think about my kids going on dates and having curfews and it scares the beejeebers out of me.

That's about all I got.:wave2:
