The Side effects of the AP-Trip#6 Oct 10 Final thoughts and some TMI

Pat, sorry you've not been feeling well...hope you are 100% soon.

Love the safari pics--especially the giraffe (my favorite).

And you got great parade pictures too. We've only seen it once and we will miss it again this trip, but I'm determined to get back to it.

Thanks the ankle and knees seem good today. When I came home tonight I had my DS's car so I parked at the street and when I got out of the car with my arms full...
I ALMOST DID IT AGAIN !!!! I caught myself before I completely rolled it. After that it actually feels a little better. :rotfl2:

OUCH!:headache: glad your feeling a little better!

Doing much better, thank you.

I can't believe it I almost did it again. :scared1:

I have lived on this street for 14 years and never rolled my ankle where the street meets the curb. In 2 days I have done it twice. :sad2:

You've gotta be careful. After you roll 'em once, they're very apt to do it again.

I just happened to be standing right where the pavement is about 1/2- 1 inch above the concrete "curb" dip thingie (ding). I moved and it started to go but I caught it and hopped left.

It actually feels even better now. I have a tender spot but I think it jsut the muscles sore from being stretched too far.

Well, I enjoyed the safari and parade pics, and I'm so glad you rescued Little Red. Again. Do you think the safari drivers eventually decide the poor little guy is hopeless, and leave him to fend for himself? :rotfl2:

Sorry about your knee/ankle pain. Ugh. The obvious lesson in all of this is that 5K's are the tool of the devil.

if you sit in the front you can hear them mutter " That Little Red AGAIN Sheesh every time." :lmao: The little fella does remarkable well for being continually captured, hasn't aged him a bit. ;)

::yes:: I was never built for running. :sad2: Being a swimmer was a bit safer but judging by the injuries acquired, not so much. Gravity in general is not my friend. <insert aging related gravity joke here>

Feels even better today so I may go out and abuse it some more later. :rotfl:

I probably said this before, but every so often, I start thinking, "Wow, I could really afford to lose a few pounds. I need to get in better shape." So I decide to start running. Then I go out and start running, and about a quarter-mile down the street I think, "Oh yeah...running sucks. That's why I stopped."

I've never had the desire to run, but yesterday we went over to our storage unit and there was my poor dust covered bike. I thought, for a brief moment, that I may have to get it out this summer. Now a day later :confused3 we'll see. I justify it as I haven't been able to ride it the last few years because iwas so worn down from dialysis, now I'm too sore from surgeries.....once summers here we'll see what excuses I find! ;)

ouch hope the ankle heals up good.

and be careful out there.

Today's update - i went out again today and abused it some more.

All taped up - I looked like a mummy- note to self - get more tape.

Did my run - finally up to 6min walk and 3 min run and I kept that pace no problem and Lotso and Jealous are NOT MAD. Hey the ankle is good too.
I will put this really small so it doen't jinx it but I actually felt pretty good afterwards, best I have felt after 3.8 miles.

Hey I finally found something that works and I had to figure it out myself. :headache:

So much for that co-pay. I guess I shouldn't bother with the MRI.

::yes:: I don't really enjoy it, but I can work through the hate of it. Feeling every joint slam together as you pound the pavement is what makes me hate it. Swimming would be obvious for me but I want the lower body workout and weight bearing for bone strength etc. Plus swimming doesn't help the knee issue since tape does not work real well in the water.

I think I am over the bad hate hump and today was not too bad. I have a Disney Goal in mind so that is motivating me. :) If it works I will go with it, I don't have to love it.

I try and talk myself out of it every chance I get. I am keeping my expectations low, I can always walk, and I still do quite a bit of walking compared to actual jog/run. I am making some slow progress but I had to set a goal to try and regain some of the fitness level I did have, so I have to suck it up and do it. I was not getting any healthier sitting watching TV. :lmao:

ARgh! So hard to keep up! But I did enjoy all the parade pix, and just read you DID it AGAIN?!! Be careful!

I hope you can find the strength! It will be worth it.

That's great! Running is a lot like mowing the lawn. I really hate doing it, but you sure feel much better about the way things look afterwards.

:rotfl2: You are right. I always remind myself that most tasks involve overcoming inertia, it is the process of getting moving that is the hardest, not the moving itself.

Well, all caught up again!

The Tiki Birds has sentimental value for me since I remember it from early trips as a kid. It was unique then, now a bit outdated but a classic.
I remember being really entertained by the Tiki Birds when we went to Disney the first time in the 70's. The animal animatronics was so cool at that age, and something so new at least to me. Seems like I remember the original being open air, without the walls. Am I remembering correctly or was that some other "bird show" I'm remembering???
Shoot the 3 of us have fun running through the Piggly Wiggly looking for snacks.
I Dig the Pig! :cool1: Helped put me through my first two years of college.
First thing in the morning Single rider line was not open so we jumped in the regular line. How long could it be? My only mistake of the trip. Our longest wait at 30 minutes. Yup, that was our longest wait the entire trip and it was on our last ½ day in the parks.
Longest line of 30 minutes, and only your final day??? Not bad at all. And looks like you had a great time on RnR and ToT!!!
We got there and all ride times were too long. Now what? I had an idea. It was cold out so maybe the tigers were active. Off to the Maharajah Jungle Trek.
Great tiger pics! Haven't seen them that active before. If we make it back on a cold day.......
After watching for a while we watch this tiger. He thinks he has some privacy.

Amyspictures263.jpg

Now like most toddlers he checks to see if we can see him.

Amyspictures264.jpg
 Reminds me of my kids when they were little hiding behind a chair and peeking out to see if you saw them while they had this red face and pained expression.....
Taking that last deep breath and we get in the car. We head out and head home about 1pm.

The ride home was uneventful. We stopped for gas ( for the car Glenn, Dan and Marv) and a meal at the same place we did on the way down. I drove and B kept me awake on the ride. I think I dropped them off at 10:30pm and I got home a little after 11 pm.
And then the gas???
Now the question of the TR. This really was the start of the side effect of the annual pass. I had this pass that was good until Oct 16 2010. Of course I had to get the most of my pass. So there are more trips.

Do I start an new thread or since I have plenty of room here do we just get comfy and continue???
You know us; we'll be here either way.........well, some more often than others!!! :guilty:
This woman needs to make sure she does not spill her drink on herself.
It is funny watching some people whose arms seem to be attached and work together. Love the ones who can't put one arm up while holding the other one down, then as they tilt their camera they also tilt their other hand and end up with drinks all over them before they realize they are even doing it!!! Seen it a few times before myself. :rotfl:
Why don’t I trust him????
Nice parade pics! And I haven't ever found myself trusting him either!
Don’t worry I will spare you from watching the parade from the other side.
Well just a couple
Chip and Dale and a guy with arms coming out of his head.
:lmao: on the guy with arms coming out of his head!!!

Sorry you are having problems with Lotso and Jealous, and wow on almost rolling that ankle again! Glad you seem to have found a solution on the knees, and congrats on pushing through the pain so you can reach your goal! :thumbsup2

I would, but then it would hit a little too close to home...... :sad2:

In my case it is normally friction! You know, the one between the seat of my pants and the fabric on the couch!!!

I know the Tiki Gods were in the back as well as the rain simulation so maybe it supposed look like it was open but Not???

I Dig the Pig! :cool1: Helped put me through my first two years of college.

That was a fun trip too ... what I remember of it. After dinner and Hooray beer it gets kind of fuzzy. ;)

We had great pixie dust. :wizard:

Cold Day = Active tigers

I think I have the beasts tamed somewhat. We shall see.

I know what you mean, that is the toughest kind. :lmao:

The fountain is considered a pool by the Health dept since people have the ability to get wet or play in it.

So it needs this rules sign.

Like how Disney themes it even with the official seal.

But first we see the bats.

I spoke with Ellyn the CM from Ohio awhile about the tigers and the weather. She was leaving soon as her time at Disney was nearly over. I have yet to meet a CM that doesn’t love their job.
