Lawd, I thought this was a post about the differences between the four Disney ships!

This pro/con gay "battle" is not going to be resolved easily or quickly. Just look at racism. It's 2015 and there are STILL TONS of people who are racist! I know most people think racism is a thing of the past. However, I invite you to sit down and have a conversation with a black person, you will find that it is not. It's awful that someone doesn't like you or is disrespectful to you simply because you're black.

It's good to have the discussion. It's a start. However, we are a LONG way from getting people to accept gay marriages! This post is proof of that. There are gay people on every cruise I've been on. So, I'm sure there have been gay people on the OP's previous cruises. Yet, he wants to cancel his cruise if Disney shines rainbow colors on their ships in support of gay marriages.

I have no idea what was in the heart and mind of the poster when they posted. I do find it ironic that many want to castigate them because they believe or it is perceived they believe to be against an issue. Especially since it's in a country that prides itself on freedom of speech. I disagree with many ideologies in the country and have family members who have served and died for the right to say and do whatever they want without persecution whether or not they agreed with them. Before the hate begins and just for the record I could care less who marries who provide it is two consenting adults, it's a free country and that's what makes the USA great.

Was the intent behind "freedom of speech" to give people the "freedom" to hate an entire group of people and to exclude people? You know nothing about me or my beliefs so please don't personalize this. In this country, if someone wants to hate a group they can whether or not I agree with their beliefs. Just because I believe in the right for them to say something doesn't mean I believe in what they are saying or stand behind it. I can detest and disagree with their statements and I also have the right to state my belief against it, as most on this particular blog did. However it doesn't take their right away either. I don't know the poster and I would hope that they communicated their thoughts in a way that was misunderstood and not articulate as opposed to anti but since this is a blog where we don't really know the other people, I am going to refrain from "hate" responses as I don't really know them. After all this is a Disney Cruise Line Blog and I'd rather focus on the purity and enjoyment of Disney. You don't know me, if I'm gay and state this does it change your mind?

Just because someone disagrees with someone's choices in life does not mean that they hate them. If people get their feelings hurt because someone has a different view then them they need to get thicker skin.

And MommyMeNDisney, just because someone might not believe in gay marriage in no way shape or form means they "hate a group". That's absurd. One might disagree with someone's beliefs or life choices, whatever they might be, but it scarcely means any decent person would "hate" or wish them harm. It's not okay to hurt people on EITHER side of the fence……. respect should go both ways. Folks can disagree but yet be agreeable.

I don't think gay lifestyles are any less innocent than hetro lifestyles and if you don't want your children to know there is such a thing you may have to keep them locked in a closet or move somewhere like Saudi Arabia where it's illegal. Otherwise children are bound to notice some of their classmates have two mommies or two daddies.

NPR, whom I tend to trust for truthful reporting, stated that many polls show a "not overwhelming majority" of people support same-*** marriage. My children are older teens and we live in a rural, Southern town. It's amazing to me how it really is an overwhelming majority of their friends and peers that support this ruling. The generation gap will make this issue obsolete in a generation. I'm just glad there is progress now so we don't have to wait a generation for change.

The photo of Cinderella Castle actually dates back to 2012. Disney has not officially recognized the SCOTUS' landmark decision at all. You can calm down now.

Its really sad that if you don't agree with something or have your own views you are not respected and are condemned. To each their own, some are pro gay marriage some are not, both opinions need to be respected.

Bigotry doesn't need respect. It has rights in this country, but it certainly doesn't have the right to respect.

People are not understanding my post. I know love is a beautiful thing. I just think some places of business should be off limits.

A place of business has the right to do however it pleases. From the bakery denying the wedding cake for the gay wedding to a disney castle lighting it up rainbow. They can do whatever they want because they're a PRIVATE ESTABLISHMENT.

Please cancel and don't support Disney i'm sure they will do ok with your money. Disney is about a place of inclusion of everyone, the mouse does not care who you are they just want to bring happiness and joy.

I think the opposition has learned to just keep quiet or you get labeled a bigot or called other nasty names for your beliefs. Like I said earlier respect doesn't seem to flow both ways on this topic.

I always laugh when people say "the media makes you think that". There's just as much spinning on one side as there is on the other. As of May of this year 60% of people believe same sex marriage should be legal. Majority wins. Done.

Did you even stop for one single second to think about the children of same sex parents and what joy it might bring them to see the castle up in rainbow lights? Nope, you didn't, because you're too busy thinking about how to shelter your own children from the world. Good job.

I hate to break it to you, but Disney hosts plenty of weddings with couples of the same gender, both in the parks and the cruise ships. If you turn the corner on Deck 4 with your family on the way to play some shuffleboard and see two brides in the middle of their wedding photos, will your cruise be ruined? What about if your children see a man propose to his boyfriend in front of the castle, will that spoil your vacation by them seeing this?

Disney does not cater to children, they cater to families, and always have. And in some families consist of two adults who love each other and are of the same gender, just like some families have one parent or some families do not have children.

I don't understand why on earth letting children be children should involve sheltering them from the world. Should we also make sure that children don't know about heterosexual marriage? (Because what is the difference?) Where is this supposed confusion you talk about? Kids won't think that gay marriage is wrong or anything to be confused about unless you teach them that it is.

That is the great thing about living in this country you have choices to do certain things if you care to do them and if they are not against the law you can live your life that way or not live it that way. There is no need to hate even though tons of people continue to make it all about that and do hate. All we have to do is live our own lives as we want to and not worry so much about how others choose to live there if they are living within the laws of the country.

I understand that maybe I should have phrased my statement differently. The thing is homosexuals have been dealt this card and they have to live this way. It is a lifestyle that many people do not understand at all and is in the minority. Just like Black people who are in the minority in the USA and Canada and also many other Countries. People are not accepting to them either. What I was really trying to point out was if all people would just worry about themselves and not what others are doing if it isn't breaking the law we would have a better country in my opinion.

As parents it is our responsibility to teach our children tolerance. The earlier you start the better. Teaching them that love is love isn't adding stress on them, it's teaching them acceptance for all. Which is going to make the world a better place. By avoiding it you are teaching them that it's not "normal" which it is.

Maybe it's different for me, I live in Canada where all marriages have been accepted for over 10yrs and I've tried to teach my child that love can be between a boy and girl, a girl and girl or a boy and a boy.
