Most miles since December 2019. Still making my way back to running full time. It's been 8 weeks thus far and the body continues to hold up. The fitness still has a ways to go, but I'm being patient. G is developing a love for running and is genuinely looking forward to it every time. We're sticking with 30/30s for now. She likes coming up with topics for our runs. Earlier this month we discussed the Blopians from Blopia which is now known as Pluto. The Blopians are now extinct and in a massive planetary disaster Blopia was shattered and the remaining large chunk is Pluto which is why it's known as a dwarf planet now. The rainbow colored hair Unicorns are in there too now, but their back story escapes me. It's possible some Blopians still exist thanks to the Unicorns. We've also discussed colors dogs can see, limestone, erosion and many others. It truly is what dreams are made of since the whole reason I started running 9 years ago were for moments like these.

Heavy solo lifting cleaning out MIL's house earlier in the week. Not sure, but I suspect it contributed.

Working out at the YMCA. I've been having issues with that arm, so my plan has been start off light and increase the weights if it feels alright.

Curl machine. X felt alright. X+5 first rep: SNAP!

Oof! My husband had his bicep torn off near the elbow in 2020 when a pony decided to bolt through a gate while he was getting another horse. Ponies are feisty little demons 🤣 He had surgery and physical therapy and everything went well. He has full range of motion and no pain. He’s a power lifter and he hasn’t had any issues with it. He just broke two national records in June!

July totals
Running - 126.5

Took a week off(scheduled) for some rest and recovery and still hit my 2nd best month for running. Hopefully the positive trend continues with 2 marathons in early October, Wine and Dine, and Dopey on the calendar.

I only started training partway through the month, but I guess I’ll join in the sharing.

Is that anything like the Frozen Sunshine at Beaches n Cream?

I’ve never had the Frozen Sunshine, so I had to google it! Looks delicious but a whole lot sweeter than my Recoverite! 😆 Now that Ample Hills is closed, we might have to frequent Beaches & Cream more often 😋😋

July Training Summary
Running Miles: 111.9 miles
Running Time: 17:22:44
Average Pace: 9:19/mi
Average HR: 134/min

Additional Miles
Walking Miles: 19.0 miles
Mountain Biking Miles: got out on the trails once for a whopping 6.4 miles

Mileage was down this month due to three small running-related injuries right in a row (quad-hamstring-hip; I think it was a snowball as the first injury slightly changed my gait which led to the second and third injuries). The good news is that the first two injuries have fully healed. Unfortunately, the third injury is still with me, so I may be walking more than running for the next week or so in an attempt to fully recover.

I ran the Summer Breeze 5k yesterday. Afterwards, I decided to wear the shirt around while running some errands.

I stopped at the pharmacy to pick up some prescriptions, and the assistant commented on my shirt, saying she'd run the same race that morning. I asked how she did. "Uh, I won the women's half marathon."

I congratulated her, and commented that I saw her cross, then, as I was hanging around the finish line when she got there. (I didn't remember at the time - she set a women's course record as well.) She asked about my race, congratulated me as well.

Just a random encounter that put a smile on my face.

Not much to note from July’s training. Summer heat and humidity is well-entrenched here in central NC, which largely accounts for the decline in my average pace as I try to compensate. July did feature one new, unwanted milestone. The T+D of 172 during a mid-week 10 mile run represents the highest one I’ve run in to date. It was not pleasant.

I‘ve got one more week of max training for my Labor Day 50k this month before hitting the taper for it. After that, it should start to cool off as I recalibrate my training plans for W&D and Dopey. Here’s hoping, at least!

yeah, the running into my eyes thing was why I haven't tried it yet. Agree with your point on not wanting to sweat less but 80 degrees and 80% humidity is a different animal. You can get going before the sun comes up but then the humidity can be in the 90% area and the temp is still 75
Welcome to my life May through Sept! Here in west-central FL my Feels Like an hour before sunrise was 89 - 85* and 90% humidity. I wear Headsweats visors: they do a pretty good job of limiting how much sweat runs down from my forehead into my eyes. For some reason, wearing sunglasses with the visor nearly eliminates the problem, which is weird because it's not like my sunglasses sit on my brow like a barrier or anything. :confused3

ATTQOTD: I really only ever have a craving after very long runs and it's for either Pepsi or Sprite, depending on the day. I don't drink either usually, so I think it's likely a case of my glucose and sodium being low, plus the carbonation always feel really good after a long run, for no reasons I can explain.
