The Return of the Disney Box--Trip Report Started--PTR Complete =)

Disney and I are starting to have a love-hate relationship. Once you get everything down pat (or so you think) they change the hours. GRRRR. Or maybe not GRRRR.

The bad news: much of my planning is now obselete. Changing the Magic Kingdom's hours from ending at 10pm to ending at 12 pm, well, you get the picture. Then add to that the incessant changes in the crowd calendar, and I feel less like I'm going to Disney World and more like I'm on a teeter-totter.

So. . .anywho, we have changes. And a lot of them. We dropped first of all the Park Bouncies. And replaced them with water parks. I've been back and forth about this all along--do we do the park hoppers or the water parks? Which one is more bang for my buck. Add to that the additional cost of going to one water park and the extended hours ala the powers that be at Disney and a reduced crowd prediction, and viola! Park Swimmies.

So, of course, that changes my schedule and here goes:

June 23--Drive to disney
Park: Hollywood Studios

June 24--Magic Kingdom
Dinner: Crystal Palace

June 25--Hollywood Studios
Dinner: Captain's Grille

June 26--Blizzard Beach and Animal Kingdom
Dinner: Grand Floridian Cafe

June 27--Epcot 1/2 day
Dinner: Chef Mickey's

June 28--Animal Kingdom
Dinner--Kona Cafe

June 29--Typhoon Lagoon and Magic Kingdom
Dinner--Olivia's

June 30--Water Park of choice and Epcot
Dinner: Akershus

July 1--Breakfast at Ohana's and depart

So, there you have it. 12 Days away (I ain't countin' today) and I have major changes. Leave it to me. =)

Who can forget the car packing practice in 2008? It was neat. It was eloquent. It was admittedly, a little OCD. But it gave me an idea of what would fit into my little 2008 Ford Focus. The positives about my Focus? 40 MPG. Sirius Satellite Radio, SYNC Hands-free. 40 MPG. Sunroof. A color that does not attract the attention of Highway Patrol. Did I mention, 40 MPG? The negative? Size. Just for a blast from the past, this is circa September 2008 a prepack for my Halloween trip (I'm pretty sure I did this the same day we received our documents in September):

And last week, prepack 2009. For this one, I wanted to see if the three suitcases and the first aid box would fit. They do, with room to spare.

So, here we are, 1 week, 1 day, out. Have I finished packing? No. But it's been busy. I have been playing around with my camera. And this, I think, is one of the best pictures with it yet:

In just a few short days, the planning, stressing, and studying for this trip will be over. In just a few short days, I will be hearing the most welcome phrase ever spoken by a Disney Cast Member: "Welcome Home". In a few short days, I will be strolling down Main Street, USA, flying through California, shooting various and sundry items from Toy Story, and eating Flame Tree Barbeque. In a few short days, I'll be home. There's always a bittersweetness to the end of the anticipation. You know that when it's this close, that it will be over soon, as well. Which will lead us to a new episode of this trip: the Trip Report, in which I keep the magic alive for another year. Until then, I'm left with the difficult job of savoring each and every moment possible. Even though, in the words of a good friend of mine, "I'm going to monkey next week." That's what she refers to as getting really, really hot.

I do know that after checkin, we will be running to the nearest store to purchase water and Gatorade. To me, that will be a life saver. I learned in baseball season this year that Gatorade can really go a long way in rehydrating!

So. . .the bags are packed and by the back door.

And the Disney box? Well, it's found a new use. But just for now. . .

I'll return just one more time for a goodbye on Monday night before I drive off. Then all of you can join me for my homecoming!
