~ The Real Housewives of Orange County ~ Season 12~ 2017 ~ JULY 10th

Brianna went from her life being controlled by her mom to her life being controlled by her husband, it seems.
There is a saying that most women marry guys just like their fathers. Since her father was not in her life, she's married someone just like her mom.

I'm finally watching this weeks' episode. Someone needs to teach Brianna the difference between a tornado watch and a tornado warning. No one with a tornado shelter spends the entire watch time (hours) in it. You go into it when the storm gets close or there is a warning for your area and you're usually not in it for more than 45 min-hour per warning. But, once again, let's not let the facts get in the way. What gets me too is Brianna and Ryans house in OK isn't expensive by OC standards, but it is by OK ones, and they are driving a Mercedes suv and living in a very large house for their probable income. They are living a life that almost everyone else in their financial situation (Ryan's rate, Brianna being a nurse) can't. While they get a housing allowance, it's lower there than in higher cost of living areas. I know how much they should be able to afford (DH retired military) and it's not that house. I'd love to know how much money Vicki is funneling to them. Brianna isn't making that much for her appearances.

Also, as for Shannon, kids shouldn't have to worry about their parents' relationship.

But Nurses can make $50-70,000 right?
Not sure his pay but I can see them having over $100k and the South-or OKlahoma has VERY reasonable housing costs

I don't know if a relatively young nurse like Brianna would make that much in OK. And I don't know what Ryan's rank is, but my relatives in the Army/Marines don't come close to $100K. Seeing the nice house they have and the Mercedes they were driving, my initial thought was also that it wasn't the first time Vicki has helped them. And if it's true that Vicki hasn't helped them before and they can afford that house and Mercedes on their own income, then Vicki had no business buying them a car.

Not in OK. They combined probably bring in closer to 75K. Also, with Brianna saying she's working two jobs I'm pretty sure means she's working two part-time jobs, probably less than 40 hours as nurses tend to work shifts.

Ryans' rank is probably E-5, maybe E-6 which pays about 3K/month plus another 900/month basic housing allowance (with dependents) and then a variable housing allowance which varies by location but in OK city is probably nothing because they figure it based on localities where median housing costs exceed 80% of national median housing costs. OK is an inexpensive area to live in and just because they have a house that is obviously above the median for where they live doesn't get them any extra.

My dh is retired military, so I noticed all of that as well. I don't know what rank Ryan is. Is he enlisted? I can't remember. Vicki has to be helping.
I was thinking the same thing about the tornado shelter! She has to be smarter than that.

I hope we find out about Brooks tonight, but since we're 22 minutes in and nothing....I'm sure something will happen in the last 3 minutes. Yawn.

Just a few quick thoughts from the last show. I am a little familiar with housing costs in OKC area. That house has to be in at least the 385K range. My guess, it's quite likely more.
It could be Briana gets money from being on the show, don't know. In general, someone on an E5 salary could not afford that house, even with a working spouse.
As pointed out upthread, someone needs to clue them in on the difference between a tornado watch and warning.
I don't know how the show/filming affects her friendship possibilities. Dh is retired military, I can tell you that when he was active duty I would have never wanted to be friends with someone who films a reality show. Nothing personal, it's that I valued our privacy for us and our children.
Extended deployments, odd hours, the last thing you want is any unnecessary attention. I always felt safer keeping a low profile. JMO on the subject.

Megan is a little obsessed. Nothing good can come out of this!!

megan is more like stalkeresque:crazy2:

man, can you read the writing on the wall that her marriage won't even make it as long as vicky predicted-the manner in which he talks to her when he knows they are on camera just speaks volumes to how he views her (and while I don't approve of the way he speaks to her at times-I have to give him a thumbs up when he calls her on crap like "you're waving to no one", her why, why, whying of anyone who doesn't share her opinion on a subject (loved it when he flat out told her last week that people can think what they want to, and not everyone thinks like her), and her obsession w/ the whole brooks issue (does she really think that she is the only person in the rhoc world who has had a family member who has dealt with cancer????? and again-loved it when Vicky told her tonight that if she's so interested in it to become an oncologist and cure it:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2).

I'm in no way a big brooks fan-but good lord, if she's so damned concerned about her own genetic predisposition, the fact that her family members are not pursing genetic testing, her husband's ex (who at the point this was filmed was still alive), and the wild child "wish she was my own bio kid" step daughter-why is she spending so much time hunting down brook's ex's to try to connect, wasting the time of medical receptionists misrepresenting herself as a cancer victim......she is a poster child for someone her dh should take very careful steps in acquiring a protective order on when (NOT IF) he dumps her.

I have a few of my friends that are nurses and they make over $100,000 in Florida. They are pushing their kids to go into nursing because of the money and health care insurance.

I work as a social worker and go into low income apartments all the time, and a few people have new expensive cars (Mercedes, Lexus, BMW ...) What these people do is lease these types of cars because they can't afford to buy them. Brianna seems to be a type of person that needs a new car every couple of years and leasing is the best way to do that.

I don't know their financial situation, but people do find ways to get what they want without a controlling mother. If I was Brianna, I would not ask Vicki for financial help. That help would come with lots of strings attach to it.

And of course make $100,000 does not mean take home $100,000.

I agree about not using Mom for financial advice. I think that's sound for most folks. :)

My BIL is an E-something and he was able to buy a home for over $425,000. He was even shocked that he qualified for a home above $425,000.

There's probably more to that story. (Cash down, for one.) Just our thoughts on this, no matter what one "qualifies" for, the numbers have to add up. Foreclosure happens to all sorts of people, including military.

We've never purchased a home at the price point we "qualified" for.

Meghan is totally out of line. She sounds like a spoiled brat. At 30 years old, she should understand that not everyone thinks like her. The fact that she'd do x, y and z doesn't mean it's fish if someone else would make different choices.
I think her husband can't stand her. It seems like she embarrasses him with her antics. He didn't seem very happy that after they spoke with Brooks and Vicky (without a big scene) Meghan started one by going to Tamra.
Tamra needs to chill. She knows she's been a major pot stirrer in past seasons but she acts so offended when anyone is less than trustworthy of her. Yeah, Ryan isn't paying her back. I wouldn't be surprised if her walks out on the fiance. I did hear they had some kind of domestic violence issue. He just seems to have no sense of responsibility or commitment.

also-it sounds like Tamra's son is not going to jump into marriage with that older woman

At the end Tamra was right-it WAS what Vickie told her-talk about a lot of double talk from Vickie!

There is not more to the story and he didn't do any cash down. He has a VA loan and scrapping pennies to make the mortgage. He is about to get a roommate so that will help. BTW, it is very hard to foreclose on an active duty person. Plus, most active duty go out of their way to not have a foreclosure because they can lose their top secret clearance and job.

I think Bravo is behind Meghan stalking Brooks. I do think Brooks handled the situation very well with Meghan.

I agree. Without this, she doesn't have a story line. Shannon doesn't have a story line either which is why they have to focus on her marriage issues.

I have tremendous empathy regarding Tamara and her son. If her son is a low-life, there's not much she can do about it. However, now that he has a child, Tamara wants to be there to help/protect/take care of the baby. She's not paying all that money to help her son. She's doing it to for granddaughter.
