The Problem Is Too Much Pooh

I'm a big Pooh fan - my favorite stuffed animal as a child was a Pooh. The only character meal I did an ADR for was Crystal Palace.

But it does sound like there needs to be a little less Pooh around. :)

Surprisingly, my kids have never liked seeing Pooh. When they were young and maybe actually watched or read Winnie the Pooh, he totally scared them. Must've been the size. They actually really disliked almost all the Pooh Characters, although they did ok with Micky, Minnie, Pluto....

Then when they got past the preschool age, they had no desire to ever see Pooh. THe Fab Five seem to be timeless to them, as is Alice and Peter, Princesses, etc. But there is definately no love lost for Pooh. Wondered if we were the only family that felt that way, since as you say he seems to be everywhere!

I agree with OP too. While I think Pooh is a fantastic character, no character should be in all 4 parks except Mickey (and possibly the rest of the original gang). Just doesn't seem right when there are so many other Disney characters available.

Wow it is refreshing to have a thread with people who dislike the big yellow bear.
I am British and have an intense dislike of everything 'Pooh' related and always have had. To some people here, Disney simply means 'Pooh Bear' and I find that so frustrating. For many years here, it has been fairly difficult to get anything (clothing etc) as a gift for a baby that doesn't have that insipid yellow face on it!!!!!!
I rarely go into the UK pavilion at Epcot (please note, guys, it is the UK pavilion and not the England pavilion), but I am sick of seeing Pooh everywhere else around WDW. There are so many other characters which could be utilised for character greetings and surely it is not too much to ask for the bear to be kept to one or two places, and not have him strutting about everywhere. He is not Mickey, after all!!!:lmao:

I've always been fond of Pooh and LOVE Eeyore, but Tigger for some reason bothers me. Goofy does, too, so maybe I just have an issue with really tall costumed characters.

I have to say though...I've never been fond of Mickey or Minnie Mouse. As much as I obsessively love WDW, I think there's maybe one or two items in our house that have Mickey on them. It really curbs my spending habit at Disney because the only merchandise I'll buy is stuff that focuses on the parks or attractions, not the mouse itself. Out of the Fab 5, the only one I really like is Donald!

I don't mind Pooh bring everywhere. But I would love if he met with different characters except Tigger and Eeyore at AK. What about Piglet ( aside from at CS) Kanga, Rabbit, Owl. Surely in each different park he could meet with different friends. I'd line up to meet Kanga.

Agreed too much of the same old same old. I love Pooh but come on already he's every where.

I miss the days of meeting characters on the street. Just walking along and all of a sudden there's Mickey, figment, whoever. That made my day to see how many characters I could spot in a day.

Somehow, I've NEVER seen Pooh at Disney. I do have his autograph that a friend got me in high school on the back of a receipt. LOL

Pooh is about as classic a Disney character as you can get. They probably have him out a lot now due to his recent movie.

I agree though that a villians meal would be great. However, we have all been saying that for years. I wonder if Disney is too afraid they will end up with a bunch of screaming, crying children, to do it. After all, you see all the complaints posted here when someone doesn't like a character's tone of voice. Multiply that by a billion and that would be the complaints after a mean Disney character behaved in character and wasn't all nicey-nice to someone's child.

They could do the meal a few times a week and make it more adult themed. I'd love a Villian Meal

And I don't believe for a second that cost would prohibit Disney from tossing some new character meet and greets out there. Maybe they should take some of the cash spent on producing garbage shows on Disney Channel and put it towards something more important - like Rescue Ranger costumes:banana:

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I could go for both of those....get rid of some of the Disney channel stuff (MAD TV did an awesome spoof on how to get casted for Disney channel and its sadly true! :( ) and bring back some of the rarer characters. However, not everyone is familiar with the characters as some of the bigger Disney fans are. You mention the Rescue Rangers and those shirts and jackets do exist for the munks and are easy to change into, but look at it from Disney's perspective--while most know Chip and Dale, how many of the same people know the significance of the Rescue Rangers? That show is 22 years old now and I don't believe its on the tv lineup.

Yeah Pooh is popular, Stitch is popular, the classic 6 (Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald, Goofy, Chip & Dale) are popular...but these are all very recognizable characters. Put out a character like Foulfellow and you get "Hi Robin Hood!" or something like that. ;)

I realize this is an old thread resurrected...

but it's been rumored that Pooh's being replaced by Wreck it Ralph this fall as DHS. I also wouldn't be surprised if he disappears from another park in the next 6 months or so as well.

Stitch used to appear in all 4 parks, Typhoon, and 'Ohana; he was pulled from DAK last winter.

I do have to laugh though at the idea that Pooh is not a classic - I guess it depends on your point of reference, but '77 seems like a classic to me. ;)

I like to see Pooh from time to time, but he isn't my favourite... but I'll take 1000 Pooh's over 1 Princess any day. When I've been there, it seems everything's Princess - I like to see a mix of things - especially the "classic" Disney. I think that when there's too much of anything, people easily tire of it (sort of like the songs on the radio - they're nice until they're playing it when your driving to work, out at lunch, when your driving home, at all the stores in the mall - all of a sudden you don't like that song anymore).

Bring on the villains! Where is Maleficent, Yzma, Gaston, Lotso, Gov. Ratcliffe, Syndrome, Davy Jones, Captain Barbossa, Scar, etc. Enough with the cuteness already!

I can see him leaving the Animation Building for Wreck it Ralph in the fall, but aside from Animation, I think it's fine.
