The Problem Is Too Much Pooh

Aww, I love Pooh Bear & Friends, always have, always will, but I do agree, it's a little too much. I would love to see more Pixar characters :)

Not sure who you mean by "classic Disney Characters", but all the heavy-hitters are there. Some of the older characters never had walk-around costumes to start with, and others (Bambi, Lady & Tramp, Dumbo, etc) just don't work in a M&G setting.

:earsboy:

i dunno, Bambi could try a hoof print? Paw prints? Ear prints? ;)

I agree with a villains type meal. I love the princesses, but the villains are just as cool. When i was younger I wasnt scared of the villains, though i was ticked that Jafar took my autograph book and almost didn't give it back. I also was just as excited to get my picture with King John.

They have the Boo to you Parade and other themed things during halloween around them. But that might mean then people would be less likely to go if they could just see the villains whenever they wanted

Has nobody noticed why there's so many Poohs around?...

....it's because it's the cheapest costume to manufacture :stir:

Nice try, but no it's not.

The cheapest costumes to manufacture are those that most resemble actual "human" clothing. Stuff like Captain Hook, Jiminy Cricket, Blue Fairy, Mad Hatter. Anything that's got fur and feet and a big ol' head and needs to be weighted and balanced properly is pricey. Not to mention the cleaning bills for something like Winnie the Pooh vs. a princess.

Pooh is pricey!

Guess I just think the whole character thing has become stale and predictable and Disney needs to shake it up a little bit. Seeing a Scrooge or Boo at the Hat in the morning or having Robin Hood and Friar Tuck on Main St. would be a welcome change from the monotony that exists now.

And I don't believe for a second that cost would prohibit Disney from tossing some new character meet and greets out there. Maybe they should take some of the cash spent on producing garbage shows on Disney Channel and put it towards something more important - like Rescue Ranger costumes:banana:

There is not too much Pooh at WDW! The only place there is too much pooh is at my wife's daycare business!

Poohs' voice is a little annoying but he's the man!!!

Seems like we're kinda split 50-50 on pro- vs. anti-Pooh. And what did poor Duffy do to deserve such hatred?

Simple - less Pooh in the parks and more character variety. That's all we want.
That, and another pineapple Dole Whip please...:thumbsup2

Add my entire family to the too much Pooh category.

We ate dinner at Crystal Palace and saw Pooh. We ate breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and saw Pooh. We went to Epcot and there was Pooh. The first character we saw at MNSSHP was Pooh (and friends). I think we saw Pooh more than Mickey.

I never thought of Pooh as a Disney character. I've never seen Duffy, but I think he's cute. I put him in the same category as Pooh.. not a real Disney character.

I LOVE the idea of a Toy Story and a villains meal.

Are characters going to be at the Beast Castle restaurant for dinner? Hope they don't decide to put Pooh there...

Yeah, I can finally come out of the closet publically!!!:lmao: I do not like Pooh...never had...never will.

Would love to see less Pooh and more other characters, particularly villians, princes and Pixar.

Now, Duffy I do like!:thumbsup2

Marsha - when I saw this thread, I checked to see if you had started it! Then I felt a little guilty because I had a picture taken with Pooh in Hollywood Studios....... (but would have liked it to be Tigger)

We saw a Chip and Dale all over the place while we were there.

I have to agree with you. I like Pooh, but there is a little bit of overkill going on.

I can contribute to this thread too!

I really hate that there are so many Winnie the Pooh things to buy everywhere instead of Mickey Mouse. When trying to find stuff to buy for my sons nursery, etc, all I could find was Winnie the Pooh and no Mickey. And it's been this way for most of my life!

Also why does Pooh get full length movies? Wheres the love for the Mouse??

Duffy? He is not even a real character! He was just made up to sell stuff. At least Pooh has had movies for years and years. Plus tv shows.

Duffy is a step under the Build a Bears, imho.

I think they use Pooh for nursery stuff, because he is more soothing and quietly spoken. Mickey is kind of hyper, not what people usually want when putting their kids to bed.

Too funny -- nope, it wasn't me!

We did actually go to DHS characterpalooza and did get photos with Pooh. however, as I left I told the CM, "Pooh, is my least favorite character" and she was shocked! It was pretty funny to see the look on her face! Oh well!

However, I also noticed that there was only 1 person ahead of us in line and the entire time we were at the animation bldg, Pooh was either completely by himself or a very short (2-3 max) line.

I understand others do like Pooh but at least add some more characters with him like Piglet or Tigger. It was obvious that Pooh by himself was not a big draw, at least that night.

I actually felt sad for the CM playing Pooh...must have been really bored just standing there for long periods at a time.

Yep, I know! But I could easily do w/o all the movies and tv shows of Pooh. I guess it's just the "willy, nilly, silly" part of him I can't relate to or appreciate -- hence why I don't like him, since that is his whole personality.

But my girls actually got into "Disney Bear" before he became Duffy bear. We had bought the little brown book where Mickey takes his bear through Magic Kingdom. They don't sell it anymore but it was great to introduce/remind our kids about MK rides.

Then 2-3 years afterwards, they changed him to Duffy bear. And all I can say is that he is cute and we got some of the outfits for $9/each in January which does compare to BAB or T-Rex, so it works for us. However, my DD6 esp likes the reminders of the clothing from the different countries.

So whether you call him Disney bear or Duffy bear, we love him -- a very cute brown teddy bear with Mickey markings!

My first visit to WDW back in 1987, I couldn't find ANYTHING with Pooh or Tigger on it! And I mean anything - I would have been ecstatic with a keychain, for goodness sake! When I came home, I used fabric paint and made myself a Tigger shirt, I was so desperate.

Now, jump to today, and you can't walk more than 10 feet into a store to find Pooh and Tigger!

I'm not a huge Pooh fan either. We saw him on our first trip and that would've been enough for me but he really IS everywhere. I'm not a big fan of the stuffed characters (ones who can't talk). To me, they might as well just set up a giant stuffed animal for you to take your pic with. Yeah, they can do silly hand gestures to communicate but really, I just don't get much out of meeting them.

I suppose that goes the same for Mickey & Minnie but somehow they're different :confused3

I dislike Pooh immensely. I like Tigger and Eeyore, but Pooh is annoying. I hate that he's everywhere and I agree with the OP entirely!
