I just reserved the Plaza for 5:30 on December 13th. My new wife and I will be landing in Orlando around 1:22 and will be taking the MDE to POP for our first two nights.

I have two questions:
1. Will we have enough time to get to the resort (hopefully checked in) and be able to get there in time for the reservation? (Yes I do have the MVMCP tix already)
2. Anyone have any reviews of this place? We are looking at something cost effective as we have just bought a house and know budget will be a little tight. We do have the free dining kicking in once we check into the CBR on the 15th.

Assuming that there are no delays, you should make it on time. If you are delayed, though, you'll have to pay the no-show fee.

Those party tickets are kind of expensive. Do you really want to waste 90 minutes of your time in a restaurant? If it were me, I would just plan on eating counter service.

I was originally wanting to do that, but it is first night of our honeymoon and kind of wanted to eat a sit down place. I'm still debating on it though.

I personally wouldn't waste precious party time on a TS restaurant either. We ate at the Plaza on our last trip in June and we thought the food was just mediocre. I wouldn't care to go there again. (This was the only time we've eaten there though.) I feel there are much better TS restaurants at Disney. : )

The food is good, but it's just sandwiches. I wouldn't consider it to be any more romantic than counter service.

I actually really enjoy the Plaza.. the menu might not be big, but the food is always so delicious! If the party starts at 7pm, and you have a 5:30 ADR, the meal won't take too long... so why not? I actually think it is a good choice for a party night.. it is more laid back and you'll be done in time for the party.. What better way to start the party off, leaving the restaurant, walking right out on Main Street and let the fun begin!

I must say, the cheesesteak sandwich and Plaza Club are so good! And the fries there are some of the best i've ever had... they are not the typical fries you get at the QS places.

The Plaza is perfect for party night. The last thing you would want to do is eat heavy on a party night. After dinner you wont feel stuffed walking around and going on rides. Yes, its simple sandwiches, comfort food and ice cream, but they are pretty good. I love the tuna on a croissant :) You will have plenty of time to get there for 5:30. Enjoy your trip!

The Plaza is our go to when we want to get away from the crowds and have a nice quiet sit down meal. The icecream is so good!

We found the food to be mediocre - with the exception of the fries which are awesome, I love Disney steak fries!!!

Also the Plaza is NOT romantic - brightly lit with an open floor plan and moderate noise level. If you were hoping for a more cozy or date-night meal on the first night of your honeymoon I would have to say this isn't it.

However, the food is decent and the prices aren't bad so if you really want a TS meal at MK rather than a resort, I would go for it. But you could also consider getting a meal at a monorail resort such as The Wave at CR or Grand Floridian Cafe at GF - just a thought!

Well first of all - congratulations! What a fun way to start the trip with MVMCP!

DH and my experience w/ Plaza was fine. Nothing super memorable food-wise, but I did enjoy the atmosphere. It's not really quiet, but we were still able to talk and enjoy our time there. I do agree with another poster above that said eating light is a good idea - especially for the first night there. Hope y'all have fun!

I wonder about reviews here, since I just booked it for my October trip. Looking at the tuna salad on croissant sandwich or the strawberry salad (I love entree salads). But I wonder about the cancellation policy if your plane's late and you miss your ADR. Will they charge you a cancellation fee or will Disney waive the fee just from you saying your plane was late? This is why we've never made ADRs on arrival day-we don't trust airlines to be on time!

They will charge the $10 per person fee.
