The Plaza changed their menu and it sucks.

Yeah, these impossible burgers and beyond burgers are horrible. They are filled with a bunch of fillers so I won't touch them. I miss when places made their own burgers. I have a harder time eating here at Disney in the US then I did 2 years ago at Disneyland Paris (which is not know for its food but I found so yummy). It is terrible what they did to dining at WDW.
Impossible Burger == impossible to eat, yes i’m a carnivore but there are some really great veggie burgers out there which are a treat in their own right. The Impossible burger reminds me of “Textured Vegetable Protein” staple of school lunches in the ‘70’s

Sadly, we did not enjoy our last experience at the Plaza either. Food was a Meh -, service was snarky and rude. NOT what we've experienced in the past. I'll wait to hear better reviews before we return.

We had several wonderful experiences at the Plaza two years ago; decent service, never-ending milkshakes, great breakfast, and the club sandwhich and Plaza fries.

Our most recent experience pre-Covid was terrible. Our waitress was rude, took 20 minutes to get water, and the food was awful. My favorite meal there was breakfast, and the lunch menu (IMO) was missing a good salad.

I have a reservation for my July trip, but am thinking I might cancel. As much as I love the view, these reviews and the new menu are yucky.

The Plaza is the latest success in Disney's quest to lower food quality and laugh at us from afar. I'm thinking they know who's on YouTube or has any type of following, and specifically prepare one good thing for those folks, because I seem to have much different experiences than the influencers, and I doubt that's a coincidence. I'm actually nervous eating at Disney restaurants these days since some have gotten so unbelievably bad. Tony's was the test, and I guess when people still ate there, they figure they may as well cash in on the captive audience.

Our last visit to the Plaza included 2 of 3 entrees sent back, settling for mediocre (at best) hamburgers for $20. Last month I sat at Whispering Canyon Cafe, tried each item in the skillet, and promptly asked the server to take it away so I could go eat somewhere else, which I did. Disney dining has to be the biggest practical joke in history. I cut them some slack due to covid and have had a few decent meals in the last year, but overall I'm less than amused at some of the dining "experiences". Unless you are at a signature restaurant, it's a coin toss if your meal will be acceptable. At these prices, it should exceed expectations, not invoke anxiety.

Yeah, I think of the 70's too, but more for "frankenstein food creation" vs TVP. I mean, the 70s were where artificial colors and flavors really took off and chemically altering food into what was wanted.

Thing is, most vegans/vegetarians I know try to avoid the "frankensteining" of their food, so I can't imagine they are wildly enthusiastic about impossible meat any more than meat eaters are. Honestly, I think it was an immense advertising campaign trying to get all 3 groups on board these products (aka, expand the audience), but I gotta think in the end, we'll be back to better tasting and more natural vegetable burgers vs these creations by the end of this decade, if not sooner...

As for me, I eat vegan burgers often when I go out b/c there's no certainty non-fast-food restaurants are not putting butter in their burgers or on their buns, so knowing it's vegan means that aspect has already been solved for me. And I like real vegetable-based vegan burgers so much I have 2 types in my freezer right now for lunch options for me, while I have beef and turkey burgers in my freezer as dinner options for me and the whole fam...

I do agree with some previous posters about Disney dining in general. It had gone down hill and started to pre-covid. Before we arrived at WDW last weekend, we had some incredible meals at Universal and even better meals at Legoland. Yes I said Legoland. It was our first trip there and OMG the food anywhere we ate was totally awesome! This was at the Legoland Hotel. And it was not expensive. ......

I had never eaten there before covid; son and husband had. Last July and November, I had the meatloaf. It was excellent; way better than 50s PT. I don't like the pork or veal that 50s PT puts in theirs. My husband liked his, but I can't remember what he got. My son liked his kids burger, but he doesn't really have refined tastes. I think he thought the bun was good.

I wonder if they are getting a super good deal on them. During the height of covid when all the meat cases were running low, Wegmans had a huge case of frozen impossible burgers just sitting there.

Yeah, I think it is a "deal" that the company made to sell them at WDW and WDW probably got a bulk discount as you can find them all over property. I won't touch them and it is a shame since when they offer the veggie burger it is the only non-meat option which leaves me scrambling to find something else. This is part of the problem of the very limited menus as Disney. At this point I find it very hard to find something I will eat and so I avoided the sit down restaurants and just got counter service "snacks".

Yeah, Disney has gone down overall with their food quality and choices. Yes you can still find some good meals here and there but overall the quality and choice has gone downhill. Hopefully this causes them to rethink their current strategy but I doubt it. 😢

If you hit Universal, I can say that the black bean burger at Krusty's Burger (Studios) and the Spring Salad at Burger Digs (IOA) were both wonderful meals. Burger Digs also has a vegetable burger (brown rice and mushroom based, vs the black bean at Krusty's), but I was craving the salad, so I can't compare the two...

Former AP holder with 2-3 trips per year for a while. So, we would rotate the MK restaurants. I am continually disappointed in the lack of great dining experiences at MK, compared to other parks. The Plaza ends up in the rotation every couple of years, despite repeatedly being underwhelmed. Location, location, location and price are pros. But, the menu selections, food quality just don't excite me. I wish they would completely redo the menu.

Agreed. In our trips since Covid, we were saddened to not have our BOG Quick Service lunch as our "Go To" MK meal, so we had to try new things. Plaza breakfast used to be a winner; lunch was average at best. Now it's terrible. That's a hard no for us. No Columbia Harbor House either, so we did try Pecos Bills, and it was decent. Our new MK favorite is Jungle Skipper, but the meals are way too big and heavy, so we do order appetizers and/or kids meals and that's plenty; the atmosphere is pleasant, and the service has been excellent. We leave for Disney tomorrow - here's hoping.

It saddens me that the quality and service are so hit or miss. The consistency was always something I could count on with Disney, and helped justify the price point. Not sure anymore.

Yes, I had many more options at Universal when I went last fall. Overall their food is better for counter service & Mythos is great when they have something I like... I do wish Universal had more table service restaurants though. But with Citywalk so close I guess they are just leaving the table service to them.

I will have to try the black bean burger the next time I go which probably won't be for a few years.

We have reservations at Plaza for the first time ever coming up. This has me thinking we should cancel. As a family of 6 we have to be somewhat picky about our sit down dining choices since the cost really adds up over our 10 day trip. We've eaten almost everywhere so we were trying to find some new locations. But I'm happy to pay for a mediocre lunch at any counter service place instead! I really don't want to shell out $200 for bad food.

We’re a family of 7 so I feel your pain. Trails end is “inexpensive” by Disney standards and it’s great food.

Pecos Bill used to be one of the better CS. Our last visit, the food was still good, but really missed not having the fixin's bar. they gave you a few toppings, but not the same thing. Loking forward to it returning to more normal.

I was just gonnna mention Pecos Bill. They changed up on us as we used to always get burgers and then the fixins bar. Now it's almost all Tex-Mex, at least it was 4 years ago :confused3

Yet' Disney's stated strategy is go after the whales, Yet the whales #1 expectation is excellent food which is why all the vegas hotels have restaurants from all the celebrity chef's the first time I ate at Spago was in Vegas and it was a 'Mind Blown' meal. So for me it's impossible to reconcile the current craptastic food service, the vast increases in food pricing and poor service. I cant reconcile any of this to a coherent business plan.
