Erg - sandbox time is coming. Kids love it, I hate it. They really only like to dig, not sculpt with it, so I had a thought to replace the sand with those tiny pebbles that are in the Dinosaur Dig in AK....but I've gone to a bunch of places already and nothing is as small (and certainly as clean) as what's there, and no one has any idea of what I'm refering to. Internet searches have been fruitless.

Anyone have any idea of where I could get this? Is there a name for it besides "those reeeeal tiny little pebbles that are in the Dinosaur Dig at WDW"?

TIA!

Don't know, but that's a good idea.

Thought I'd bump this so maybe someone can answer. :)

If I am not mistaken, it is also sometimes called peastone. Try searching around for that.

And, I bet Dan's AK CM will have the answer as well!

I think peastone or pea gravel is even bigger than the stuff at AK. The pebbles at AK are very small. They almost feel like they could be synthetic though. They are about the size of half an apple seed. Very tiny, smooth, and roundish.

I was thinking that you might want to try a pet store or an aquarium supply store. Those stones almost seem like aquarium substrate gravel.

I have no idea, however I'll ask around at work and try to get the answer for you :)

I'm not sure, but I do know some places that use rice instead of sand. It's clean and works well for "sand"boxes. Just an idea...

Thank you all so much for the suggestions!

I'll definately try the aquarium supply store route! Rice is a good option too.

Thank you!!
