The Olympics

As well you should!!!

It's a great time, and will be gone all too soon, so capture those memories (and share them with us)! :teeth:

LOVED the downhill and snowboarding yesterday. ::yes::

Not so much in love with the pairs skating... kind of boring, music and routine wise.

Remember the days of... LOL

so today I am starting my morning with PVRed Young and the Restless ((ahh vacation)) then will spend the rest of the day watching Olympics then tonight when my hubby gets home from work we are planning on heading downtown to snap some photos. :thumbsup2

DVC OKW: Yes the crowd was singing the anthem. We were impressed that BC Place was was chock full for an awards ceremony :)

Sandra as for the cold -- it depends on where in Canada you go. Vancouver is rarely that cold. Last year it was colder in Orlando in Feb than it was up here.

jjjmranch -- the BC commercials: do you mean the ones with Fox, Nash, McCormick, McLaughlan? If so yeah, that's a pretty good commercial

I missed tonight's skating as we were downtown to check out the Olympic Cauldron, rings in the water and the street parties. :thumbsup2 The only bit of skating I saw was Patrick Chan in passing.

We're going to head back downtown maybe this weekend after they've adjusted the fencing around the flame. I'll try and get some images up in the next day or so.

Another gold for Canada today. YIPPY!

Saw the skating. Weir has some flair, eh? :teeth: Gotta love the pink tassel! LOL.

Lysacek was magnificent. LOVE the Vera Wang! :teeth:

Another gold for Cananda indeed! Snowboarding is a fierce sport and she scared us all didn't she? Thank heaven no falls for her this time. Go Girl! LOL!

Vancouver is definitely on our to do list along with a cruise to Alaska. We're thinking of bookending the cruise a few days to see more of the city

It is a beautiful place to visit. :) If you need suggestions for hotels, etc just ask.

Here you go... this is just one photo taken on my mobile. The rest are on the SLR and we've not downloaded them off the card yet.

Just thought I'd share. :goodvibes

Good grief, he's not even winded! Shani Davis wins gold, and makes it look like a walk in the park. Excellent race. ::yes:: US takes the bronze in the 1000 meters as well.

Short track coming up. Can Apollo do it? :teeth:

Did anybody see Stephen Colbert on NBC with Bob Costas last nite? OMG Hilarious when he climed into the "fireplace"! hahaha....And I didn't know he got his fans (Colbert Nation) to sponsor US Figureskating! That's awesome!

Not figure skating. Speed skating...

The Vancouver filmed episodes will air next week. I can't wait to watch. At yesterday's taping Buble was one of the guests and they sung the Canadian National Anthem words with the US Anthem music... LOL Buble was talking on the local news channel earlier today about it and said "I told Colbert --- you don't mess with anthems.. we are going to P*** people off in both countries." LOL

Anyways another gold for home -- YAY! Now am watching Woman's half pike while waiting for hockey to start.

Oh, I'm so glad that we have the Olympics at home this time. Remember Canadians, "We were made for this" haha :) Olympians are pretty interesting people. I know one woman whos in figure skating and she does go to university. She obviously took this semester off but... I don't know how these people do it. Not much of a social life with 4-6 hours of ice time a day. I have a hard time arranging my schedule if i have two hockey games in one day lol

Oh, and one more thing....

GOOOOO CANADAAAAA! :woohoo:

Evan Lysacek is from Naperville, IL which is the town next to ours. My DH went to Naperville North H.S. Small world, eh?

Congrats to all the athelet's to get medals these past 2 days :)

Tonight we are heading back downtown to join in the festivities. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Enjoy!

Just a small sampling of some photos....

GREAT SHOTS!!!! I love the mittens! :teeth:

Thanks for sharing the beauty of the city, and the Olympics with us! ::yes::

You're welcome. I was going to check out the camera this morning but seems the hubby took it when he left this morning. I don't remember what photos he took last night.... I think we got the Omega clock counting down and the museum. We didn't get to look around as much as planned last night as we got side tracked at the Omega shop checking out watches. lol

As for the mitts; those are the hottest thing in the city -- good luck if you can find an Adult sized pair anywhere. I am glad Mom bought them for all the girls in the family back in October or November.

We were chatting with a couple from San Fran last night who sat next to us at dinner and they mentioned going into the Olympic Flagship store -- they waited nearly 2 hours to get inside! On the news this morning they mentioned the Robson Square zipline waiting time is 3-5 hours. That is insane. As cool as it is I'll pass if I need to wait that long. I heard the Vancouver Art Museum is free during the Olympics. I want to head over there too. Too much to do in far too little time. In the end I am glad we stayed home and didn't head to WDW or Hawaii as originally planned.

I think a trip to the Richmond O Zone will be next and we'll need to try and get into some of the Houses... we just keep on getting distracted with stuff and never get inside!

And that's seven for Apollo! ::yes:: One mistake and he's bronze instead of gold, but it's seven for all that!

curling isn't so bad when you understand what they're doing... much more interesting than bowling or something like that.

I saw Apollo skate too. it looks much scarier than figure skaters doing triple jumps.
