Sheryl I'm so jealous your shower room is beautiful.:thumbsup2 It looks just like the ones I envy on HGTV.

Thanks for not kicking me off yesterday. I'm having a better day. Still have the Migrane just not as bad.

Lauren The cooking bags would make the turkey cook faster and I'm not sure how the stuffing would turn out. Just remember to open it at the end so it browns.

Well, if I spelled it right you may have heard of it :) ...its actually Market Day. It is a company that sells, I believe, all frozen items. Andrews school just started offering it for a fundraiser. I ordered steaks, veggies, pies, popcorn chicken, etc.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Poor Kenny!

:lmao: :lmao: Well, I haven't heard of Market Day either. And whatever you do, please don't send the information to our PTA. I am up to "here" with all the fundraiser stuff they have sent home this year. The final straw were some junky gift type items along with the "prize" sheet. I should be ashamed to admit it, but Kenny paid each of the kids $10 NOT to sell anything. :rolleyes1

Chicken Sparky

That looks good! I've printed a copy for my file.

:coffee: Yup. My DSIL is next on my list. He took a picture of me on my DGD desk chair at my computer  but then he posted it as my avatar :scared1::scared1::scared1:. He let it slip that prunes do not agree with him so I have warned him that he better be careful if he eats anything that I make....

Go get him girl! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sheryl ~ Your shower is beautiful! I would love to have it in my house. We have a very small shower to accomodate the huge tub in the master bathroom. I like the tub, but don't use it as often as the shower and I'm always hitting my elbows on the walls when I wash my hair. :headache:

Bless your heart. I think I'll stop complaining about our bathroom now. I've been lobbying pretty hard for an upgrade in the shower head, but at least I can shower without injury (most of the time - I AM a clutz).

Can I heat the make ahead mashed taters in the crock pot?

AND, the most important question:

Anybody have a thanksgivingy cocktail recipe?

According to my sister who has made tons of mashed taters, you can re-heat mashed potatoes in the crock pot, but you may need additional moisture (sour cream, milk, butter, etc. - your preference). Plan accordingly.

As for the cocktail, I don't have a recipe to share. However, in my family we are thankful for whatever cocktail we are served. ;)

Thanks Sandy, I reeeaaallly wanted a big ole huge tub! DH worked on the plans for over a year, had some architecture buddies look at the plans too, but just couldn't figure out a way to fit a tub with the roll in shower. That's when we decided to make the shower really nice, so we wouldn't hurt the resale value of the house. Even a minimal roll-in shower would still have cost a bundle, so we wanted to make it something that didn't look like it was a handicap accessible shower. Since I can't have the jacuzzi tub I wanted, we put in massaging shower jets instead! I can't wait to try it out!

Sheryl, your bathroom is gorgeous! I know you and Bob can't wait to use it.

I have a question for y'all. We've never viewed Wishes from anywhere except the Contemporary Resort. We're planning on being in the MK this time for Wishes - any tips on a good place to view it?

Sheryl--the bathroom looks AWESOME!!!

Kathy--thanks for the Sparky recipe, sounds yummy

Well, the Thanksgiving feast was really fun. There was turkey and ham provided by the school. And both were really yummy. And then we had every side imagineable. And then there was the dessert table. I looked like such a pig--I loaded up my plate with a little of everything, hoping that DS would eat something. Of course, his lunch ended up being dinner rolls and cookies. So, I ended up eating everything on my plate (to not be rude;) ) Emma did eat Turkey and Ham along with salad. Pretty happy about that. Why the child will eat salad but not stuffing is beyond me--but I'm not arguing.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! For all the wonderful comments about my remodeling! I really have to thank my DC!

Lauren, We usually get a about a 15-16 lb turkey to feed about 20 people. But we also have gumbo, roast, etc, etc, so I'm not to sure. I usually serve wine & spumante or Champagne for Thanksgiving. But a Pomegranite Martini would be pretty! Or what about a Champagne drink like the Kir Royale! Of course I always have ideas for drinks! Oh BTW, we had Sangria with our enchiladas last night!

Thank you all for the turkey day help!

I myself would like to thank your DC for keeping us all happy too! ;)

Thank you for the turkey info...maybe I'll do a 20#er...I think I am going to do a spiral ham too. I think I am going to pass on doing the pasta this year. Tom grew up having pasta too on Thanksgiving. Maybe I'll just do wine, beer and champagne. I have mixers and liquor if anyone wants anything else.

Sangria...:headache:  :headache:

Lauren, My Mom usually rushes out & buys the turkey cus she's stuck on Butterballs, but when I get it, I do like to go big! I always want to have leftover turkey! Just make sure ahead of time that your roasting pan & oven will fit your turkey! Pasta for Turkey Day? That's a new one on me!

I'm going out now to Home Depot & Lowe's to scope out bath accessories, like towel holders, etc. DC ordered all of the plumbing supplies from FaucetsDirect.com but it seems to be locked up today. I wanted to let you know about that site though, cus it had some very good prices & everything came in quickly & all in perfect condition. We ordered all the faucets & piping, plus the lavatory & toilet from there.

Lauren ~ I was looking up some drinks for you... how about a Cranberry Kiss? It's 2 shots of De Kuyper Cranberry Liqueur topped off with Champagne. The "New" kind of ruins the picture. LOL

Or a Cranberry Cooler - 1 shot vodka, 1 shot Disaronno, 3 shots cranberry juice and 2 shots OJ.

Sheryl- I love your bathroom! Every time I watch any of the remodeling shows they always put in a massaging shower. I know that both of you are going to love it, but I bet life will get so much easier for Bob :thumbsup2

Have fun shopping!

Steph- I totally understand not wanting to be rude. I tend to "not be rude" at pot lucks too. I want all of those good cooks to know how much I appreciate their hard work. As to salad over stuffing :confused3

Lauren- I got this from another thread but have never tried it.

Cocktail Recipe: Hot Apple Pie
1 oz Tuaca Liqueur
8 oz Hot Apple Cider

Mix Tuaca and Hot Apple Cider in a coffee mug. Stir with a cinnamon stick and then use it as a garnish. __________________

I always get a big turkey and I usually also have a spiral ham.
I love leftovers.

I do as much the day before as possible, put everything in casseroles that can go from fridge to oven and serve in them as well. I invested in Fantasia years ago and this has been the best time saver I have. You can reheat the make ahead potatoes in the crock pot according to all those cooks on recipezaar. The recipe calls for cream cheese and sour cream. They are good but rich. I save this one for Easter.

I agree that if you are stuffing your turkey you may want to avoid the cooking bag. Honestly, you can make your stuffing the day before and pop it in the oven that day if you want.

My biggest suggestion: delegate appetizers! You have enough to worry about without trying to manage that course too.

Now Erica just showed up with Peppermint Mocha Latte's from Starbucks so I am having dessert before dinner. YUMM!

Nancy You just named one of my personal fav's Hot apple Pie that drink is dangerous.

Lauren Tuaca is an italian vanilla liquor it can be a little difficult to find but a good liquor store should have it.

I finally connected with one of Alex's teachers so I feel better that I am being heard.

Question? Do the Gooey Butter Cakes need to be refrigerated? I made the Gooey Pumpkin Cake (Paula Deen)- taste test- excellent! It is for a work thing DH has tomorrow- should it be refrigerated (about 24 hours after baking)?

BTW, the Ain't Yo Mama's Banana Pudding was pretty unbelievable and will be my go-to recipe for "events". The recipe is very easy to split into 2 desserts- one for work/etc. and one to keep! I mentioned to co-workers and DH that I wanted to add mandarin oranges and pineapple bits next time but all voted "Leave it be!".

The apple crisp recipe given earlier was great- I ran short on apples and added some blueberries. I froze some leftovers and will see how it fares.

Dinner tonight was breakfast- scrambled eggs, country sausage links, whole wheat english muffins with apple butter.

Lord, I'm going to gain soooo much weight these holidays!

Janice- Now you have me ready to search liquor stores for some tuaca just so I can see what it tastes like.

TarheelTink- I don't refrigerate the butter cakes but my son is positive I am going to kill everyone with some of my habits. He is a certified food handler and I think if he comes into my kitchen when I thaw chicken he is going to be "certifiable". :lmao:

Dinner was really good!

Nancy Give your son a couple of mugs of the Hot apple pie and he won't see a chicken let alone how long it was sitting on the counter. Besides a little bacteria doesn't hurt for long.;)

Janice, you kill me.:lmao: :lmao:

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I always know when he has been over because if I left something in the sink it is in the fridge when I get in :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I am trying to mend my ways but now I am going to tell him the bacteria is necessary to fight infections :rotfl:

WEEE! I just got in and threw a quiche in the oven. Mushroom, cheese, and bacon. All my faves. I think I'll do some fried potatos to go with it in a few minutes. Ugly Betty came on and I had to sit down and watch ;)

Everyone Thanks for the hugs! The media has been called (:headache: ) so it'll get worse before better.

Lauren I love those turkey bags but I never stuff my bird. I won't stick my hand up that thing

Kathy Wishes is seen best right on Main St in front of the castle. We usually stand between the ice cream shop and the center area where there is seating. It's the best seat in the house, I think, and I've seen it from diff viewpoints.

Sheryl Your shower is gorgeous. I'm so jealous!
