Lauren - Did I miss a recipe post for the London Broil???????

just gonna kinda jump right on in here... for dinner i am making gioza. i don't know if that is how you spell but that is how i spell it. anyway it is very easy to make.

Welcome!! I look forward to sharing recipes with you!!!!

Kathy and Sheryl--I know it's a bit of a drive--but ya'll are more than welcome to bunk with us if need be!

Dinner last night was a complete bust--not b/c of the food, but b/c on my "quick" trip to Target someone hit my car (no one was in the car at the time).

 Thanks for the invite, looks like we're heading to Jackson, MS.:sad2:

What a hassle with the car incident, how nice of Target for being so thoughtful.:flower3:

Dinner last night was a complete bust--not b/c of the food, but b/c on my "quick" trip to Target someone hit my car (no one was in the car at the time). Then she insisted on calling the police (why I don't know the damage was minor--I suggested we just swap info. but whatever--she was clearly in the wrong) So I was at Target for almost 2 hrs. after my shopping was done. But I have to give lots of praise to the Target management, who sent me back in the store (it was 104 degrees and I had both kids with me) and waited for the police for me. They bought us food and snacks for our trouble. And now I"m in the process of calling her insurance company to get an adjuster to process the claim. Ugh!

So, DH ended up picking up a pizza for us. Really bummed too, we were really looking forward to our buffalo chicken lasagna. Tonight DH and I are having a date night, and I'm trying to pick a great restaurant. Hope everyone is having a great day!

So sorry to hear about your car & waiting for the police for 2 hours. Ugh! :sad1:

Thanks so much for the invitation:goodvibes , but be careful what you offer! Us hurricane evacuees can get pretty desperate & needy! Especially after a couple of weeks in crummy motels!

Stephanie, glad all of you are safe...

No, I didn't see your reply. I was looking for your answer, but I think your multi quotes goofed up. (cus you quoted me, but answered Laura on haddock). I'll go do that now!

Ahhh, that darn multi quote!!! :) Let me know if you have any more questions.

The meat is better marinated for a long time but over night will do. The lady that gave me the recipe always used ribs and chicken parts...she at least 2 days, 3 is better.

Make sure to use alot of garlic!!! :thumbsup2

Oh, we know what we'd be in for--my parents helped out a lovely older couple during Katrina. We've got the space! But maybe it's ya'll that wouldn't know what you were in for--my wild kiddos might scare ya back to NOLA!;)

Thanks Lauren, I have it marinating. But boy do I need a garlic press/crusher for that one! Tried using the food processer but it just chopped it, then I tried on the chopping board like the chefs on tv do, ugh didn't crush just made a big mess. Got out my teensy little mortar & pestle and did it in batches. I probably smell like one giant garlic clove now!

Where is this recipe?????:confused3

Kathy, It's Lauren's London Broil Marinade that was posted a long time ago! I think it's page 171! I think I'm gonna serve it with Jasmine Rice & an Asian Slaw!

Now what's for dinner tonight?

Oh, we know what we'd be in for--my parents helped out a lovely older couple during Katrina. We've got the space! But maybe it's ya'll that wouldn't know what you were in for--my wild kiddos might scare ya back to NOLA!;)

Stephanie, After last year with all the crazy relatives in one hotel for a week & half and then 7 adults & 2 kids & a sick dog in a teensy weensy old house down the bayou, I'll do anything to avoid that again!

We have booked some rooms in Hattiesburg MS though for just a couple of nights! If we have to go & stay gone then we'll head to WDW for as long as the credit cards hold out! If we end up in the same mess as Katrina again, I might be begging all of y'all for room at the inn!

Thanks Sheryl for directing me to Lauren's recipe which I've already printed out and tried!!!! How dumb am I??? It's awesome !:thumbsup2

You commented on it just the other day, that's what had me go look for it! We'll pass that one off as Post-K Hurricane Stress!!!!;)

This is the recipe I use, but I "play" with it all the time! Hope it works for you!

Shrimp Fried Rice

2 Eggs (I use 3)
2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
3 Green Onions with tops, chopped
3 Cups cold cooked Rice
1/4 pound cooked Shrimp, chopped *(I use fresh and sauté them after the egg is cooked)
3 Tablespoons Soy Sauce

Blend eggs with 2 Tablespoons water and set aside. Heat oil in wok or large skillet over medium heat. Add green onions, stir-fry 30 seconds. Add eggs and cook stirring gently, until firm. *(if using fresh shrimp, I sauté them just after the egg is cooked) Stir in rice and cook until heated, gently separating grains. Add shrimp and soy sauce; cook stirring until mixture is well blended and heated through.
Makes 4 to 6 servings.

To make it with bay scallops:

I don’t add the water to the eggs (some water always escapes the scallops as they cook). First sauté the green onion, then add the bay scallops and sauté until just done, then add the eggs and continue as above. You can keep the shrimp in the recipe if you want more meat, or omit, whatever you like. (Sometimes I add a touch of Tabasco as I am cooking the scallops if I want a little "heat" in there!)

Thank you. This looks great. I think I'm going to do it with scallops first and see what happens. Publix has them on sale this week.

just gonna kinda jump right on in here... for dinner i am making gioza.

Welcome. Please come back and post often.

What a pain! I hope your date night turns out much better.

Now that sounds like my kind of evacuation. Still hoping and praying it passes you by.

I finally went and got my Thai take out for dinner very tasty. They also had the world's smallest crab rangoon, so small I think the forgot the crab.:lmao:

My baby comes home tomorrow :cool1: The dogs need someone else to follow.

All you down near the Gulf, stay safe. If you need to, come up this way. The only water is in Lake Michigan no hurricane there, just dead fish and a few people;)

NOLA friends, the invite is open for us too...I do hope that you visit on better terms though...praying for the best for you guys.

Oh my. I should have told you that I just peel the garlic and give them a really good whack with the back of the knife...next time...

FOOD PORN COMING...

Well, my dinner plans changed because we received our 2nd month delivery of Diamond Organics (we received 3 months for a wedding gift). We received so many great things today: 4 cheese ravioli, sourdough bread, plum tomatoes, garlic, onions, mesculan salad, spinach, basil, parlsey, mushrooms...YUM!

I made a marinara sauce with all the fresh ingredients for the ravies, garlic vinergrette for the salad and we made the tomato bread that I already posted here. Can you say delicious??? :)

I really have to rave about the tomato bread. We picked up this recipe in Barcelona...a local (fellow diner) actually came to out table to show us the right way to make this...below are pics of how to do this and website about the foods of Catalonia (Spain).

http://www.fell-walker.co.uk/catalan.htm

Pa amb oli - olive oil drizzled bread rubbed with (optional) tomato and garlic ( Mallorca ). This speciality is spreading across Spain as a tapa. Pa amb tomaquet is the mainland Catalan version

Step 1: Toast the bread (usually a sliced round loaf - the pics here are sourdough).

Step 2: Peel garlic cloves and cut tomato

Step 3: Rub with garlic:

Step 4: Rub with cut tomato:

Step 5: Drizzle with olive oil (Don't mind my paper towel roll napkin - too lazy to go downstairs for more of the real stuff :) :

Step 6: Add salt to taste:

DH is craving seafood, since he hasn't had it in months, so we had linguine and clams, salad and crusty bread for dinner. Becky was wanting pictures, but I'm not ready to push DH over the edge just yet. He sees food, he wants to eat it. He doesn't want to wait for a photo.

Hey WFD guys and gals, I need your help with something. You guys are very wise and creative so I thought I would post it here instead of starting a completely new thread :) Warning: it has nothing to do with cooking!

Something you need to know: I do FlyLady and this doesn't really fall under their help.

I have to have some help cleaning my house. Being a paraplegic, I can't get on my hands and knees to clean my husband's shower. It's a tub-shower. A normal person would just kneel by the tub and scrub it, lean a little bit and get the shower walls, right? Well, here's my problem.

My grandmother normally comes and helps me clean things like this every other week or so. She is down with a bad foot a rotator cuff problems, so obviously, she can't help me. I am trying to come up with a way for me to clean his shower. Do any of you have any thoughts or ideas on how to not make this a back-breaking process for me?

I will go take a pic of the shower, maybe that will help.

Any and all help/advice appreciated.
