Tonight I am making a meal I saw Rachael Ray make last week. It's flat-iron steak with green sauce, homemade Rice-a-Roni, and salad. I will let you all know how it turns out :)

WFD at your house?

ETA:
My BF is like this, too. He loves tons of hot sauce, but for some reason the powders make him sick. I pretty much have a cast iron stomach, though.
You know, I didn't used to be this way. I could eat anything spicy, hot, you name it. Now I get massive diarrhea :(

Whooo Hooo Kathy's hubby gets to stay freezer burn free!!!!

supper tonight is going to be homemade pizza with a mixture of cheeses, as I have about 5 different half empty bags of it in the fridge that need to be used up. I will serve it with a cucumber salad and fruit salad. tuesday's and thursday's are karate nights so it has to be quick meals.

:lmao: :lmao:

Good morning everyone!

Lindsay - I saw Rachael do that steak and it looked very good!!

Yeah! I'm cooking this evening!! I'm making a pork chop dish that is breaded then baked in a wine sauce, dirty rice and lima beans.

Think I"m gonna make sausage and peppers tonight!

Kathy--WooHoo on getting to cook tonight--and for DH avoiding being an ice cube!:lmao:

Yeah Kathy!!! SO glad hubby stays out of the cold! :thumbsup2

I am making steaks tonight...DF is leaving tonight for France and last time he was there, they served cow jowls...:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 . And you all know he is a picky eater and wouldn't eat the stuff and the foo foo food...so I want to send him off with a nice meal. Don't know about sides, probably salad since we are low carbing.

Have a great day all!

:lmao::lmao::lmao:I can picture him now, wasting away while the foo foo food piles up around him! DD went to France when she was in HS, I think she survived on bread and water the netire time she was there, she would not touch a thing.

We are having Paula Deen's Fried Pork Chops, baked potatoes, baked sweet potatoes ( some won't eat a sweet potato, and noone likes the chops any other way since I made these :confused3)) a veggie and salad. I want to get to the store and pick up a French Batard and some fresh basil to make some crostini with fresh mozzarella and garlic.

Morning y'all,

I think I'm going to do something with fish tonight. Not sure how yet.

Or maybe I'll just head on over to Kathy's for dinner? Those pork chops sound yummy! And my DH just LOVES dirty rice & lima beans!;)

Lulu, Thanks for the Glynis's Roast Pressure Cooking instructions! I probably try it tom. or Thursday. I usually cook it with water & wine and add brown gravy mix at the end & thicken up the gravy. My family loves my roast, but I have to try Glynis's recipe! At least once a week I'm hearing how good it is!

Lauren, I guess you'd better feed that man before sending him off to Land of Foo Foo Foods! :lmao:

Lindsay, I'm going look up that RR recipe it sounds good!

Have a good day everyone!

Ummm, no, I do not cook in the boa. It's a leftover from closing the store that I haven't figured out what to do with yet! You know you live the "decadent" life when you have a spare boa lying around!:rotfl2: And DH got paid so I can go get my toaster oven this week- finally! I can bake in the kitchen (well, to some degree) instead of running over to the old apartment!

Glynis- Rick wants ta kiss ya! We had Glynis' pot roast yesterday and he loved it! He said- "all that time you spend on DIS is good for something besides Disney! Wondered why you were on there so much when you know everything anyway":rotfl: :rotfl: My knowledge knows no bounds! I stun myself-now look away while I look that up!:lmao:

So, it's leftovers here all week to clean out the fridge before leaving. Except maybe a package of brownie mix when I get the toaster oven- because I KNOW I have to try it out to make sure it works!;)

Glad he likes the roast!!! I'm glad that it's met with such approval. I wish I knew where I'd gotten the original recipe so that I could give credit. I know it was in a magazine!

Tell him to have a crepe for me! When I was in Paris, I lived on them. They sold them from carts on the street and they were incredible. I'd get a ham and cheese crepe for lunch, then go back for a chocolate one for dessert.

What are your plans while he's gone?

Well, I have no idea what's for dinner tonight. My menu plan called for Honey Lemon Schnitzel, but I had to scrap that! I found out last night that my oldest DD has to be at the football stadium by 6:00 for the Hope of America program. That means we have to leave our house by 4:30. I'm thinking we'll stop by McDonald's for something quick to eat while we sit and wait for the program to start.

Grrr. I'm beginning to hate the end of year stuff the school always does!!!

Peapod has lamb chops(shoulder) on sale.. Are these good for my first attempt at lamb?

Jenny I think the shoulder cut is a bit tougher than the little chops or a rack of lamb. It would probably be great cooked a little longer. A curry sauce would be yummy or... A friend of our's was bragging about the shoulder chops he got on sale & how good they were! He said he braised them in a Brown Ale with onions.

edited to add: I am far from an expert on lamb, though. So would someone else please give Jenny more advice on this!

Glynis ~ I know what you mean about end of the year school stuff. I just got a note yesterday saying we have to be at DS's school at 6:30 AM for his field trip to Islands of Adventure. They don't expect us to be back until 8:30-9 pm that night. And then the next day is field day. And before all that is 5th grade graduation.

Kathy ~ I'm glad your kitchen in finally done. :woohoo:

WFD? Tonight is garlic grilled shrimp on a bed of wild rice with steamed broccoli. I would love to find out how to make Red Lobster's white wine and butter sauce they put on their grilled shrimp and scallops.

Dinner tonight is going to be Corn Flake Crusted Fish Fillets with Roasted Tomatillo Sauce & Fried Corn. Probably some guacamole and corn tortillas or rice. We'll see how much I can accomplish. I'm starting to roast the tomatillos & peppers now.

I planned on this dish a while back & never did it. It's from the Rick Bayless book Mexico One Plate at a time. I'll let y'all know how it comes out & if it's worth the time!

Tee hee, I don't plan on telling my husband what's in the sauce until after he eats :)

I won't tell, he'll never know!:rotfl:

Lauren - Is DF feeling better?

Nancy - I was going to do PD's fried chop recipe but it's DS's favorite and he won't be home for dinner tonight. He's on his way to a playoff game 3 hours away and won't be home until around midnight. He LOVES those fried chops!!

Jenny - The only lamb I've ever done is a rack, so I can't help out on the chops, sorrry!

KAthy- every time I try a different recipe I get complaints. The sweet potatoes are off the menu and mashed potatoes are on....my DS request. So I understand your DS, mine are the same :thumbsup2

I am sure he'll find something to eat...he won't starve I'm sure. :) Crepes sound yummy!!!

DS had 2 baseball games while DF is gone and then I am going to my Mom's tomorrow...I'll leave Andrew there for a while and go to dinner with 2 of my girlfriends that I don't see often enough. Hopefully they'll want to go to Bonefish....:cool1:

Kathy, Tom is feeling a little better. Thanks for asking. He still is sick though...and you know men. They have a sniffle and they're dying...;)

Sheryl, at least he'll appreciate my cooking more when he gets back from foo foo land right?

Nancy, I have never seen the man not eat...I would love to see the foo foo food pile up around him...maybe he'll just drink...

Have a great night all!!!!

Tonight I am making the Jambasta and garlic bread.

WFD at your house?

ETA: The steaks last night were good. One catch: I don't plan on buying the flat-iron cut anymore. It turned out to be fatty and "membrane-y". I will make the same meal but use a different cut of steak. The sauce was AWESOME!! After the meal my husband asked what was in it. I got to the anchovy part and all he said was, "Oh, cool!! It was yummy!!" :)

Also:
Tonight we tried Lindsay's chili and we loved it!
Was it the one I just posted the other day?? It was different wasn't it? We really liked it. Did you use the link recipe or the altered version that I posted?
