"The Official 'True Blood' Vampire Thread" ...spoilers included.

So after seeing this week's episode, I can't wait for the finale!

Did you all put 2 and 2 together and figure out who the killer is?

The books are great too! I can't put them down! I'm on #4! :cool1:

I LOVED the books and am rereading them now (number 6 was the only one I felt was slow . . . don't care for Quinn much because the way he says "babe" annoys me to no end.)

I don't know, I think I'd rather be called "babe" than "my lover" like someone else eventually calls her. :lmao: I really liked all the books. While the stories are very short, the characters are very detailed to drag you in.

DD and I were trying to guess who the killer is. We were both wrong. ;)

I liked Eddie, too -- I generally like that actor in whatever roll he has anyway (he was the red stapler guy from "Office Space.")

I just bought the whole series of books off of E-bay. I'm going to have the first one read before my DD knows .... :lmao:

I've been thinking about the scene with Sam and Bill. Shapeshifters must be incredibly strong since he was able to hold his own with Bill. Vamps are supposed to be very strong, so given that, Sam would have been dead before he could have said, "what the..."

What I don't get about that scene was that Bill obviously could feel that Sookie did not feel in danger with Sam having his hands all over her. :rolleyes1

And what's going to happen if Sookie & Sam do the dirty? Will Bill be able to feel all she experiences? Ewww! I think he's going to have to move way out of range during something like that.

Yes, shapeshifters are supposed to be strong. Not vamp strong, but much stronger than a regular human. Though I'm sure if Bill wanted to kill him, he would have already ripped his throat out. I think he was just giving him a beat down for touching his woman. ;)

See, now I think the "my lover" thing is hot. :lovestruc

Me too ;) "My Lover" is sorta kinky

I guess it just reminds me too much of a SNL skit with Will Ferrell where he's a university professor and calls his girlfriend "my lovah" over and over again.

Plus, while it may be great bedroom talk, I don't think I'd like being called that in public. :rotfl:

Okay, I have a question and I am NOT looking for a fight or a debate--just opinions, and maybe people who have read the books will have more insight...

When Amy died during Jason's V "dream", there seemed to be a lot of religious symbolism going on--she was in a 'crucifixion' position, floated up towards heaven, etc. Now, to me--she wouldn't be headed up but rather down...but it is not my place to judge.

Were these visuals intentional or just good tv? Am I reading too much into it (yes, I know it is JUST a tv show) or is there more to it?

Bad Amy was not in the book, nor was Jason a V addict. I'm going to guess it's just Alan Ball being very visual in his telling of the story.

I thought it was from Jason's point of view. They were high as a kite, so it would seem natural to him that she'd float away. IIRC, they both kind of bounced & floated before when they were tripping.

BTW, we don't bite here. Only the vampires do. :teeth:
I've asked some extreme newbie questions, and the gals have been great on this thread. :cool1:

ITA- That is exactly what I thought- nothing more.

I agree with the others that she was floating away, but with Alan Ball, I'm sure that the religious symbolisms were intentional. The whole scene was reminiscent of one of Nathan's dream sequences on Six Feet Under.

And, I agree with you. Amy wouldn't have been headed up, unless it was for a stern talking to before being sent down.

Don't know about bad Amy, but the book did have Jason going to bed with Amy Burley and her ending up dead.

I thought Amy Burley was just mentioned as a potential hire at Merlotte's after Dawn died. I wish I would have kept all the books so I could check. And reread them all.

I think what happened was Sam had Sookie go through all of the applications to pick someone out. She chose Amy. On her night off Amy worked and Jason hooked up with her, the next day she was discovered dead. Then Jason was thrown in jail for ALL of the murders, b/c like in the show, they thought they had him red-handed.

You might want to register at paperbackswap.com. It's an online book trading site for all books, not just paperbacks. For each book you send out, you get a credit. When first register your first 10 books you want to trade out, you get an additional 2 free credits instantly to get books. The cost to send books is ONLY the price of media mail postage (and your packaging.) No fees, no extra charges. It's usually about $2.50 for a paperback. Then you'd have credits to get books.

If you don't have any books to trade, (or any credits,) but want to get books, you can usually buy people's extra credits for $3 in Paypal, then get the books you want.

The vampire genre is pretty popular right now, so you'd have to be put on the waiting list for the books you want, known as the "Wishlist." But, since the books are pretty popular, that also means the books you want will eventually come around.

You do NOT have to trade any books you get. You can keep the (vampire) books to reread, etc.

If you're on your local library's waitlist, you might as well sign up for paperbackswap, too, as you'd get to keep the book afterwards, instead of returning them, like at the library. If you do trade books back in, you'd then have credits again to get more books.

Clear as mud? :upsidedow

Do NOT put the Twilight series on Wishlist though, expecting to get them any time soon. There are currently 600 people on the list already. And the movie hasn't even come out. Yes, more people will just buy the books and then have them for trade, but I doubt #600 will see the books anytime in the next 3 years. But other people have mentioned less popular vampire books/series earlier in this thread, (like Anne Rice,) and the Wishlist is significantly less, like around 25 maybe? :cheer2:

I've been a member since the beginning of the year, and I've actually been able to get several of the more obscure or older books (in great condition,) that I never thought I'd be able to get, to keep. :cool1:
