"The Official 'True Blood' Vampire Thread" ...spoilers included.

Alcide, I can't think of anyone ooh wait anyone know about horror movies and know the actor/makeup/effects guy Tom Savini??? He would be a the only person I can think of off hand who kind of fits the description. ...but for Quinn...considering that Charlaine Harris said she pictured Vin Diesel when writing him, he's the only actor I can think of...though he is a HORRIBLE actor and would therefore be a horrible choice for the show if they chose to bring Quinn in.

OMG- I met Tom Savini at a horror convention one time! I like the way he pops up in movies.

I just checked what he was up to and I see he is going to be in a movie- Vigilante Vampire.....hmmmmm

I thought he was at times interested, but then it seemed not. I hope so, it would be really interesting. ;) If Sookie ditches Bill who would you have in mind? I might agree if someone else better comes along but I don't see that right now. I do like Sam but I don't know. I kind of like the idea of Eric wanting her but not quite getting her, he's too bad a character. It is a great show. :thumbsup2

The beauty of Eric and Sookie is that he is a different man when he's with Sookie. He can still be a butthead, but he also shows a tender side. That is what made him so absolutely hot for me in the books.

Exactly. In the book, Eric won my heart when he bought Sookie gravel for her driveway. :rotfl: He pays attention to what she needs in a way that Bill never did.

And I was never a fan of the whole Alcide/Quinn thing. I got very irritated by Quinn calling her "babe" all the time. :rotfl:

I'm an Eric girl all the way. I  him.

I don't know... I, for one, wouldn't have minded a wolf or a tiger in my bed... almost as hot as a vampire. Out of all the choices, I'm all for Eric. He's the only one I'd tell my DH about. I'd keep asking him why he couldn't be more like the vampires. ;)

I don't have an actor in mind to play Alcide or Quinn. I agree that Vin Diesel is a horrible actor, but someone who looks like him would fit the bill. I almost think both of these characters would have to be unknown actors. Heck, most of the characters haven't been major players in the acting world and they fit just fine.

Yes, yes, yes! I'm totally with you here. Maybe he'll do it on the show, too...Sookie says she needs a new driveway to Bill when he's admonishing her for haggling with Eric over payment for the Dallas job.

I'm an Eric fan, too - I never liked Sookie with Alcide, and I really wasn't a fan of Quinn's - I hated the "Babe" stuff!

Eric!! :lovestruc

Let me ask you all something. At the beginning of the first season, I remember it bothering me because Eric wasn't very tall and in the books they'd always described him as being a big guy. Suddenly, this season, Eric is towering over everyone in the scenes.

I haven't rewatched the first season--am I just imagining this or does Eric seem taller now?

Alexander Skarsgard is 6' 4". Stephen Moyer is only 5' 10" for comparison.

Well, now I'm wondering why I thought he was so short during the first season. :lmao: I'm going to have to rewatch it, I think.

Thanks for letting me know.

I think he hunches sometimes but they need to give him more scenes so we can properly investigate.

Did everyone know his father was Bootstrap Bill in POTC? I was surprised when I read that.

For those that have read the books:

What actor do you think would make a good Alcide? Quinn?

We don't have to post spoilers about them so others don't get upset, but we can discuss who would fit the bill.

I watched HBO prior to reading the series and was glad I had a picture of Sookie, Bill, Eric and Sam in my head to relate to the book characters. made it easier. ;)

Now ... for Alcide, in my minds eye I see Christian Kane (currently on "Leverage" -- where I saw him -- I didn't watch "Angel" or "Buffy", so didn't know him from that). I think from here on out I'll be disappointed with actors/characters. :rotfl2:

Quinn .. I dunno. :confused3

I just found that out myself. Did you guys know Alexander was in Zoolander He played Meekus, one of the male models that lives with Derek ("it's like, ex-squeeze me, but have you ever heard of styling gel?" :rotfl:) I laughed so hard when I found that out.

I haven't seen that movie in ages but it might be worth renting again!

I finally have Generation Kill. I only heard about it because A.S. is in it, but it's supposed to be really good. Now I just have to find 7+ hours to watch it.

I think he was sitting a lot in the first season too, so that could account for it.

I meant to ask earlier...

I couldn't understand what Jessica had Leon yell out at the hotel. If anyone understood it will you PM me please? I watched that part over and over and I never could understand him.

I don't know if you can do it with your system, but I have my TV set so that when I press mute, it switches to closed caption. I find it very useful when I can't understand dialogue, I just rewind and replay with mute on. I have to do that a lot With Saving Grace. Those Okies talk funny :happytv:

I never thought of that. I'll have to see if we have that feature.

I do now know what she/he said and it was pretty much what I thought I heard!

They probably did the "Tom Cruise is taller" technique of putting Stephen Moyer on a flat wooden box called an "apple" to raise his height up like in the picture here:

My TV does that. I wish it didn't. I prefer to just glance at the TV screen and not all the closed captioning in the way. There is actually no way to turn off the closed captioning. I'll have to check out what Jessica says the next time it's on though. :thumbsup2

I had wondered if that was what they were doing that with Eric this season. That could certainly be why Eric looked shorter to me last season if Bill was actually on a box.

Thanks all of you for the suggestions as to why I might have thought this. It was really bugging me.

Can you pm me with the details? I too tried to figure it out but could not and I don't think my tv has that feature I will have to check.:worship:

I have to agree that if he's going to start going that way and doing things that Bill doesn't I would definitely see your point. There really is something about bad guys. :rolleyes1

On your TV remote control, look for a button that allows you to adjust the PICTURE settings for your TV, like brightness, Contrast, Tint, etc. One of them should be for CLOSED CAPTIONING. If it's not the PICTURE button, try the AUDIO button. For most TVs, you turn it on and it stays on for every show & commercial that's capable of closed captioning until you turn it off.

What gometros is talking about is some Sharp brand TVs automatically close caption just when you hit the mute button.

Closed captioning is actually kind of funny. I guess nowadays it works by voice recognition software to type up the words instead of actual people. If the software doesn't hear the words right, you an get a whole different meaning than what was originally said.

I was watching the news and they were recapping about the plane that landed in the Hudson River. The captioning said, "Everyone on the plane got out safe and un-armed," when it was supposed to read unharmed. :scared1: :lmao:

I agree that there is something about bad guys but I really don't see Eric as a bad guy. I usually don't reread the book while the series is running but it was bothering me that I couldn't remember what happened in the book so I'm rereading it now anyways. ;) Eric is much more charming in the book--dangerous and always alert as to what will benefit him and his business, but charming.

I can't believe I've put this much thought into a literary character. :lmao:
