**** The Official October 2014 - Disneyland Resort Thread ****

So now that I have most of the necessary stuff booked, I'm starting to think about when/how to spring the news on the kids. I'm thinking about letting them know right before school starts, as a sort of "back-to-school" surprise. One possible way I was thinking of letting them know is to have them put together a disney puzzle, then give them both a Disney GC when it's completed. For those that are taking kids, when are you going to tell them and how are you going to do it?

The time I went with just DD (she was 6) I told her when we got to the airport. Already had the bags packed in the car when I picked her up from school so she had no idea something was up until we were parking.

All other trips we talk about it for the entire year after one trip ends. We love going in October however we have done Nov and Feb once. I'm a Disney nut so I love talking about it with my kids and the excitement just builds as we get closer to our trip!

We went to our first MHP last year and loved it!

Then we'll be returning early November after a stint in San Diego.

We are heading to DL on Oct 19th-Oct 22nd. We plan on staying at the Super 8 on Katella this time. We do plan on hitting Mickey's Halloween Party. Very quick trip but Im excited.

We've been talking at length in the Halloween Time at DLR Superthread about the lack of MHP dates and mulling over the fact that Disney probably has the info and just doesn't release it -- you should follow along with us! If those of us in the Superthread find out anything about the Halloween season we'll probably be announcing it there first. (No offense to this thread, of course, but I have to stay true to the Superthread that I have built, nurtured and cultivated for the last 4 years!)

My dd is 11 and I plan to do a surprise. I will spring the trip the morning we fly out. Going to walk into her room like any other school am, flip on the lights and say "wake up. Were going to Disneyland " then walk out and go wait in the kitchen with the camcorder rolling.

I hope you post your video. I think this sounds like a lot of fun! I wish someone would do that for me, but I'm 53 and I can't picture my octogenarian parents surprising me with a trip to Disney!

i will. i am sure it will be a funny video. DD is quite the dramatic one but just because i said that she will probably roll over and go back to sleep hahahaha

what are peoples thoughts on MHP on the 29th vs 31st (assuming theyre running them wednes & fri like last year)? would there be any main differences between a MHP and a MHP on the actual 31st?

I have never been so I am no help lol only thing I know is from reading here and that is that there are so many tickets sold per night so if it's sold out it should be just as busy on 29 as 31. As for any special perks being Halloween, I have no idea, I'm sure someone who has experience will post or you could check the Halloween super thread for all the answers to all things Halloween time at DL

That's all I'm going to, hopefully. This is actually a Legoland trip and I'm just working in a MHP if I can. It's driving me crazy because without the dates I don't even know if I'll get my Disneyland fix or not.

I want to do two parties, one alone and one through the ultimate experience tour. I also want to do a beach tour and a Hollywood day and I can't plan anything until I know which days will be party days because everything else can be booked around them. I have NEVER waited so long to plan things, I am one of those crazy planner people. I have 3 different possible schedules and all I am waiting on is MHP dates to finalize my plans.
