We are also heading South from British Columbia - October 1st to 8th. We are flying in to Santa Ana, Orange County - picking up our car and heading down to San Diego. We are doing Legoland and then Seaworld (Oct 2 & 3rd) then heading back up to Anaheim. We managed to book a DVC Studio for October 4th - 8th (YAY!! Waitlist came through!) at the Grand Californian. Just trying to decide which three days to visit DL and DCA and which night to do MNSSHP. Our DD (6) does not know yet… we love surprising her with Disney trips - this is her 3rd to DL! Can't wait!

welcome! I have added your info to the check in :)

My next dilemma is how to organize tickets from here....online would be my best be I imagine?? :-)

i plan to do online from Canada. It's so much easier than dealing with people hehehe!!!

Now that dates are out i am doing some planning. I am am looking for answers to these few questions from those of you who are flying ...

(1) what time does your flight arrive?
(2)how are you getting to your hotel?
(3)what are you doing that first day?

Our flight arrives at 1:35pm and i assume we will take a shuttle of some sort to our hotel. Would it be nuts to schedule a MHP that night? Will we have time to arrive from our international flight, get luggage, shuttle to hotel, check in, and all that jazz and then make the MHP?

I really am so curious what others plan to do with whatever time they have on their first day!

My flight arrives at 9:55 pm at LAX. I have a town car picking me up. I am using Best Chauffeured, because gch staff recommended them. Since I'm getting in so late I will probably just check in, order some food through room service, and get some sleep. My first day in the parks I will go to Disneyland, lunching at blue bayou then attending the Halloween party at night :).....

Our flight arrives at SNA at 9:35 p.m. (12:35 a.m. east coast time), we will be taking a taxi to the GCH and then going to bed. Our first full day we will go to DCA, hopefully the will have EMH that day. I haven't decided if we will be doing MHP or WOC that night, but that will be our first day!!

We are flying out of Calgary which is a 2.5 hour drive to even get to the airport for us. We'll be arriving at 4:11pm and all of our trips have usually had us arriving early to late afternoon. On our first trip we figured since it was listed as potentially an hour or so to get from Lax to DL we would splurge and take a limo (silly us thought it would be our only trip but we've been hooked ever since ;)). Our second trip we used the Disneyland Express but they were running every half hour back then. It can be a lot of fun being in a group of people heading to Disneyland but it seemed like we had a bit of a wait and now they only run once an hour from the looks of it. I haven't decided yet what option for this trip although I'm leaning towards a private shuttle.

You may have the time to fit in the party on your arrival day but it would mean quite a tiring day at the very start of your trip and could make any early arrival for your first full day pretty tough.

On arrival day we like to take our time to get checked in and settled in our room (or I do anyways lol- DH and DD just follow my lead :) ). After that we usually wander around the hotel area for a bit and then head to downtown disney for supper, maybe some shopping and to soak up the atmosphere. If there's time we also check out the pool. It helps us get rested up for the park marathon days we do for the next few days. For example- when we went in 2012 we did this as we wanted to be rested for an early start the next day. It's a good thing we did- we got caught up in the magic and went from open to close- my pedometer showed we had walked over 15 kilometers and that was only day 1 lol!!! It also means less stress if any delays happen. I'm already impatient enough to get back to my happy place- I would be a nervous wreck if I was also watching the clock to make sure we were not going to miss any of our planned events.

Our flight arrives at about 7pm at LAX. We'll be taking the Disneyland Express (no car seats is a big plus for me) to the DLH and going to bed. We'll start at DCA the next morning and do the MHP that night. Usually if we arrive mid-afternoon or earlier, we head to the parks, but since we'll pulling kids for this trip (and then again in Nov), we decided one day missed was enough. Wish we could leave earlier though!

Joining now!! We will be there Oct 9-14 at the HOJO, flying from Bellingham, WA to Orange County. We're coming from Canada, and the price difference between flying out of Vancouver and Bellingham is worth it.

Our flight arrives at 12:37 pm on the 9th. We're taking a shuttle to the hotel, and hopefully putting our luggage in secure storage until check-in time. And then we're going to the park until we can check-in!

Our only night we can go to MHP is the 10th. The $70 is killing me, but I'll suck it up. We're also planning on doing Goofy's Kitchen one night, and WOC another. So much planning!!

We are also not telling our kids we're going until (hopefully) the day of. Our flight leaves at 6:50am, and we're going to have leave the house at 4:30am, so that should be interesting.

Welcome to the group!!! If i had the chance to fly out of the US i would totally grab that opportunity. Flights from Canada are criminal!!!! I have added your info to the check in. Now that dates are released we can have some good planning fun around here!

Now that they finally released the MHP info we have a basic plan. We will be there for the party on October 20th! Yeah! So glad we were able to work it into our Legoland trip.

We'll only be there for the party as we have kids we're pulling out of school and can't take more time but I'll take any Disneyland I can get.

I'm heading to LA for a work trip and I'm going to extend it a few days to hang out in Anaheim from from the evening 8th to the morning of the 12th. It is a solo trip without the DW or DS(11) unfortunately. Still hope to have some fun just wandering around the park. I'll have a 3 day park hopper pass bug haven't decided if I'll use all three days or hit something else up on one of them.

I don't think ill do the a Hallowe'en thing though as it sounds like it would be better with the family than solo.

Yay for party dates that fit with your trip. :)

I think a solo park trip would be a really cool experience. The idea of getting to do the things I wanted to do seems rather foreign as a parent and all lol. Halloween party or not I am sure you will have a blast.

As for me,
I am still trying to figure out exactly when I want to do MHP and how many we want to attend. As of this moment I am thinking Friday the 24 will be the ultimate experience and then the 27 the will be a MHP I can't order tickets until the 30th so loads of time to change my mind hahaha

Those of you who have already purchased your MHP tickets can post here and I will add them to the MHP check in list if you'd like to keep track of who is going when. :)

DLH 10/29-10/31 for convention. Haven't been to Disneyland in 30 years! Can't wait!!!

Hello, we are doing our first October trip and our first MHP's! We will be there October 21-26, doing MHP on the 22nd and 24th. This is also the first trip on our first ever annual passes!!:cool1: We upgraded when we got the awesome Ebates/Orbitz deal they ran with the 20% back in the late winter/early spring. They gave us the full 5-day PH amount when we upgraded, even though it was a buy 4 days get a 5th free (+ the 20% back)! So it was a great deal! We are staying at GCH and will have our 2 DD's with us, and our college-age son will be joining us mid-way through for a long weekend. :cheer2:

We arrive the same day as you, but at 9:30 am. We are flying into Long Beach and just going to grab a taxi to the hotel. I think we are doing the Halloween party that day, since we get in so early. Plus, our flight is only 2 1/2 hours long.

I'm new to the forums and thought I should pop by and say hello, haha. My boyfriend and I are heading down in October! It will be his first trip to DLR in 11 or 12 years, it's been 2 years for me. (We're heading down Oct 12-17, staying at the Castle Inn & Suites.)

I'm a little nervous and excited. I've never been to DLR in October so I'm excited to experience it! I'm not going to do the Halloween Party though, I don't think it would be up my boyfriend's alley.

Just a question from me if that's okay! Last time I went was in mid-August, and it was incredibly hot and humid (90-100ºF) and really busy. How does October usually fare in comparison, crowd-wise? Also, what is everyone's favourite thing to do that DLR has to offer in Halloweentime? I'm really looking forward to all the Halloween themed rides and treats!

Welcome! I have been to DL one time in October and plan to go again this year just for the Halloween party (couldn't fit in more time).

My opinions:
Look for pumpkins all over, especially main street.
Check out the pumpkin carving and other activities at the carnival area (can't remember what it's called)
Avoid the 'conjure a villain', long wait and just not worth it
Check out the Haunted Mansion Nightmare Before Christmas overlay
From others descriptions I didn't think I'd like the Space Mountain overlay so I didn't try it
Not sure if there is more Halloween merchandise in any one store or area but I did see some things in one store that I hadn't seen in another so look around everywhere
