I am in!!! Our FIRST Disneyland trip will be from Oct 1-7th. We arrive at LAX from Halifax, NS, Canada about 11am on the 1st and head straight to The Grand Californian for a 6 night stay. We've been to WDW 3x before but never Disneyland. I am really looking forward to MSSSHP (Did WDW's last year, twice!). We will have a car rental so we will go offsite and do a few things through the week as well, haven't decided what yet, so feel free to offer suggestions. We would like to do a great LA tour, any suggestions for that would be appreciated.
After our Disneyland vaca we are heading to Las Vegas for a wedding and a few days there before heading back home on the 12th.

welcome!!! I have added your info to the check-in :)

We will be there Oct. 23rd-27th...one day at hollywood studios ans three days at Disney.... (also plan on doing the Halloween party on the 24th)...havent been since 2009 so we are VERY excited

Welcome. I have also added your info to check-in, if you want to add the hotel at a later date just let me know. :)

Did everyone staying on property already make their reservations? I haven't yet, but I'm wondering if I should reserve now just to make sure I get a room and then call back if a discount is announced later in the year? I guess I'm just asking how far in advance I should reserve. We have never stayed at DLR hotel before, we've always just done Priceline bidding, but we are celebrating a BIG event for our family and are splurging (more details on that celebration later once it's official).

I would absolutely encourage you to make your reservations now---October at the Resort is very popular!

You can always watch for discounts, then call to have your rate adjusted if one becomes available! If one isn't released, you can cancel up to five days before arrival(room only reservation), with no penalty.

We do this all the time and it works out very well. Having the room booked gives us peace of mind, and keeping an eye out for cheaper rates is pretty easy.:)

Ended up caving to my planning excitement and booked last night. :) We opted for an additional night rather than a nice view. We will now be there oct 12-18.

ok,

check-in list is updated to here. If i have made any errors or there are changes to reservations just let me know :)

I clicked on a link that led me to historical refurbs...it said that POTC and BB would be closed Sep-Nov! After a mild panic attack I realized that information is not correct.

I called Disney and they said the only thing scheduled for refurb right now is Matterhorn (which sucks but not as bad as POTC)

Anyone else hear anything about this or know why it was listed that was from Hyrdoguy's link?

Well after all these years of reading the DIS boards I finally registered! We have our annual Oct trip planned for arrival on the 7th and depart on the 13th. We will be staying at our timeshare - Worldmark The Club. Definitely planning on MNSSHP again, I've been once with DD and once as a family (DH, DD, & DS). I've been to Disneyland appx 15 times (lost track of the trips I took in the 90s) and WDW twice. Always looking for new food to try and tips/secrets. Also hope to be able to share some with all of you!

:welcome: to the Disboards!!!!!

We'll be there during that same time frame---can't wait!!!

I think we're FINALLY going to make it for Halloween Time! We are huge Sounders fans and hope to come down for the Sounders/Galaxy game on Oct 19. Here's my ideal plan:

Friday 10/17- Party
Saturday 10/18- Parks
Sunday 10/19- Game (and maybe park in evening)
Monday 10/20- Parks

I reserved at the Tropicana for now, but I'll keep thinking about staying on site. It's about three times as much right now (for PPH!)!

I planned my last trip in 3 days (we bought plane/hotel on Wednesday and left Sunday am!). I am so excited to be planning ahead this time and I've never been at Halloween Time.

We are: DH, DS8, DS6 and perhaps a friend and my mom.

Can't wait to plan with you all!

Hi Emily!!!

You will love being there during Halloween Time---it is so fun!

I just noticed your dates(oops) say 11/17, 11/18, etc.

It made me chuckle because I guess you were really excited as you typed in your info. and didn't catch that;)! I've done stuff like that myself!

You are very welcome!::yes::

I was just puzzled at first, because as I was reading through your post, the thing that jumped out at me, was that you were planning on attending a Halloween Party in November, and I was afraid that someone had given you some horribly wrong information:eek:!

Thanks! This thread is getting me even more excited, I love talking about disneyland with anyone that'll listen :yay:

Excited for our trip today. I have been planning a few costumes for DD. I am planning to make a jack skellington dress and Mickey Mouse. I have already made her a Wilderness Explorer, Sofia the First and bought a Cinderella. She loves dressing up and we have had some amazing moments with characters because of the costumes. Excited to finally see how the US celebrate Halloween.

How fun, tinks_1989!!!

Sounds like your DD is a very lucky/blessed little girl!

I think you will enjoy how we celebrate Halloween---especially at Disneyland!:thumbsup2

I can't wait. I grew up watching films and tv program's with trick or treating appearing in episodes wondering is that really how they do it? Here in the UK barely any one decorates or actually have any treats. We have to take DD to friends who know she is coming.

The Disneyland version of Halloween is a bit different from how many other places in the U.S. celebrate it. I guess one could say that there are maybe 3 ways Halloween is done out here, as far as decorations and theme, although some places might have a combination of 2 of them:

1. Playful, fun, family-friendly Halloween, with lots of pumpkins and/or characters and "cute" details (such as you would find at Disneyland or at, for example, Camp Spooky at Knott's Berry Farm). The Los Angeles Zoo has something called "Boo at the Zoo." A Halloween parade would probably fit under this category, too, for the most part!;

2. "Harvest"-oriented Halloween. Sometimes they might be called "Harvest Festivals" or "Fall Festivals," and there are usually a lot of haystacks, scarecrows, autumn-ish plants and trees, crafts, etc. Many of the harvest decorations can be held over through Thanksgiving, too, so they are multi-purpose!; and

3. Scary, horrifying Halloween -- The darker side of Halloween. This includes all of the haunted houses (or other structures) with bloody, hatchet-wielding maniacs popping out at you, or chasing after you. There are haunted hayrides, mazes, etc. Universal Studios' Halloween celebration fits into this category, and I guess that Knott's Halloween Haunt kind of fits here too. Rob Zombie has a Halloween event that was extremely popular last year, and I'm sure will be popular again this year. The Queen Mary has Dark Harbor. There are lots of them.

Here is a post with a list of just some of the many types of Halloween offerings in Southern California!

We're not booked yet but are planning to be out there mid October. I did a quick glance through the thread and didn't see it anywhere....I'm sure I just missed it but...when do the party dates come out?
