We're not booked yet but are planning to be out there mid October. I did a quick glance through the thread and didn't see it anywhere....I'm sure I just missed it but...when do the party dates come out?

rrkman --

Soon. The dates will be announced soon (like within the next 2 or 3 weeks, maybe sooner; maybe later). The tickets will go on sale in July.

Here is a whole post with just details about Mickey's Halloween Party, including that question and answer (see #6)!

Also, stay tuned to the Halloween Time at DLR Superthread for info and discussion.

Thanks. We weren't even aware that they had a party there. We've gone to it at MK in the past but don't remember seeing or hearing anything about it when we were in DL a few years back....on Halloween. Might put a wrench into our current plans.

Yes, there is a party! It's a pretty popular season (Halloween Time) and a popular party.

Sorry for the questions but how long has it been going on? We were there in 09 and maybe just didn't even know about it. Pretty sure we were in the park on the 31st too.

The party was happening in DCA back in 2009, but all of the info is in that party post that I linked you to above!:goodvibes

Hi all! New here, first trip to Disney in many years. Taking my 2 kids (DS-6 and Dd-9) and my mother. Trip booked for oct 22-26, staying at DLH, driving from Northern California. Plan on doing the Halloween party, and a character bfast so far. Any other recommendations for activities/meals that require ADRs? This is THE big trip for my little family, and I want to make it as special as possible

I can't wait. I grew up watching films and tv program's with trick or treating appearing in episodes wondering is that really how they do it? Here in the UK barely any one decorates or actually have any treats. We have to take DD to friends who know she is coming.

We really do celebrate Halloween that way(well, most everyone that I know anyway!;))

Trick or Treating in one's neighborhood was certainly a part of my childhood, and we(my friends and I) used to go all over, for several hours, before coming home with huge bags of candy.

I think most parents are quite a bit more cautious now days---either taking their children themselves(especially young children), or doing what you do there---stopping at the homes of friends who are anticipating a visit!

Lots of schools and churches in my neighborhood also offer a Halloween Carnival, for those who don't want to actually go door to door for Trick or Treating---we call them "Trunk or Treats", because those attending give candy from the trunks of their cars, and everything is contained in the parking lot, so its easier!

Either way works, and both are lots of fun(in my opinion)!

I'm excited for both you and your DD to experience a taste of this at Mickey's Halloween Party! How fun to be making plans to take part for the first time---You will love it!:thumbsup2

We are taking our second DL trip October 4-13. We are annual WDW visitors, but this is only our second time to DL (first trip 2011). Myself, DH, and DD11 are staying in LA for two nights and visiting universal and taking the WB studios tour before heading to Anaheim. Staying 6-11 at The Anabella hotel. We are doing the Halloween party one night that week, and trying it decide on one sit down meal for my daughter's birthday. Our last two nights will be in San Diego for Sea World. We still have a lot of planning to do, but have a good start.

I am loving all of the posts in this thread as it has been very helpful. I also found the FB group so I look forward to lots of helpful tips from the DL vets in the coming weeks! :yay:

Thanks! I found that one last night and subscribed to it as well. That one looks awesome too! We just returned from our first Disney cruise last week so I am just now starting to really research Disneyland. There's so much that we missed on our first trip (which was in March 2011). This will be a whole new trip! We are super excited :)

Our DL and Southern CA trip is planned for Oct. 9-18. We are flying into LA and flying out of San Diego. Most of our trip is already planned with hotel reservations etc. except for the last 3 nights.

We are planning on being at DL on Sat. Oct. 11-Mon. Oct. 13th so 3 full days. I wanted to go over a weekend as I know in the fall Fantasmic isn't always offered.

I read somewhere that there is some sort of charity type walk on Sunday Oct. 12th like with doctors or something like that.

Does anyone know if this will be the worst time to be there? I could change our plans but it would be quite the ordeal considering I have airline etc booked. I thought it best to be there at least partly over a weekend since we want to see Fantasmic.

By the way, we are used to spring break type crowds at Disneyworld so are able to handle crowds...I have only been to DL once so am not that familiar with crowds/events.

Any thoughts?? Thanks!!

Kelly

Woot! Just got my confirmation letter from Paradise Pier today! I'll be in a theme park view concierge room from October 21-26, all by myself.

I'm celebrating my birthday and a lot of other things - new job, first published story, successful new blog, etc.

I plan to attend at least one MHP, and I'm debating also doing the Happiest Haunts tour/Halloween Party combo on another night.

I'm not entirely sure on the Fantasmic! dessert party. I only will be able to do that one night when I'm there, and I'm leaving the next day. As a solo, it may be worth taking my chances finding a spot rather than having to line up for my seat and then getting a big box of desserts I may not be able to eat.

I'm also interested in Mad T Party, so there's that.

I've been reading trip reports and getting a lot of good idea. I especially loved Vala's reports - gave me the bug to start seeing characters. I'm also getting some really good ideas and tips from bellebookworm9. I'm making a list of tricks!

Overall, Halloween/Fall is my favorite time of year and I've wanted to go to Disney for sooo long. I can't wait!

Congratulations Jennafoo!!!

Sounds like such a fun trip with some great things planned(and at one of our favorite times of year as well---FALL!!!)

What a lot of fantastic things to be celebrating all at once!:cool1:

Welcome everyone!! So happy to see our check-in numbers growing!! I truly enjoy planning and reading all your posts, it keeps my Disney spirits high :)

Check-in done to here...if i made errors or accidently missed anyone let me know :)

So now that I have most of the necessary stuff booked, I'm starting to think about when/how to spring the news on the kids. I'm thinking about letting them know right before school starts, as a sort of "back-to-school" surprise. One possible way I was thinking of letting them know is to have them put together a disney puzzle, then give them both a Disney GC when it's completed. For those that are taking kids, when are you going to tell them and how are you going to do it?

My dd is 11 and I plan to do a surprise. I will spring the trip the morning we fly out. Going to walk into her room like any other school am, flip on the lights and say "wake up. Were going to Disneyland " then walk out and go wait in the kitchen with the camcorder rolling.

I hope you post your video. I think this sounds like a lot of fun! I wish someone would do that for me, but I'm 53 and I can't picture my octogenarian parents surprising me with a trip to Disney!

Can't remember if I posted here or not, but my mom and I are coming to Disneyland Oct 5-11th! Her first time at Halloween, my second. We will be going to at least one party (Tuesday night).

I think it depends on your kids as to when to tell them.

When my DD had just turned 6 we surprised her with a trip the morning of and I think she would have gotten more out of it if we had told her ahead of time. We woke her up and told her we were going and her response was 'Why?'. It took her most of the day to really get into it. My 2 boys on the other hand get immediately excited about stuff so telling them the morning of might work.

Planning a trip is tons of work and trying to do it without the kids knowing is very hard. I don't want to have to worry about them accidentally finding out about it so for that reason I tell them a couple of months ahead of time. Also if we're going for MHP we have to get costumes and they have fun helping with that.
