We swaddled Jimmy for the first few weeks, but nothing kept him asleep through the night. Then he began to kick like crazy, so that went out the window. Now Jimmy sleeps for about 9-10 hours a night. It's wonderful!

I wish Jimmy would get some teeth already. He's been drooling for months, pulling at his ears, and lately, he's been so fussy. Is there anything I can do to get the teeth here faster?

Jimmy is going to his pop-pop's today so I can go to school and get my bulletin boards up. I have to get some work done in my classroom before in-service next week. They never give us time to work in our rooms.

Lissawynn - I'm sure nobody thought that you wouldn't have another baby if you couldn't find a bigger house. I moved into a bigger house when my DS (now 5) was born. There is no way we could have fit into our old house with 2 kids, let alone 3! We were lucky. We bought right before the housing market went insane. My house is now worth at least double what I paid for it. I can't imagine trying to find a house now, at least not in NJ. It is so expensive here.

Alice28 - What adorable pictures!

I never heard of a miracle blanket. Come to think of it, I never really swaddled. Maybe that's why my kids always took so long to sleep through the night :confused3 . I can't even put a blanket anywhere near Aidan. He likes to chew on them and ends up with the blanket over his face. I found him that way when I did one of my nightly checks (I'm an insomniac lately) and almost had a heart attack when I saw him sleeping with a blanket over his face :earseek: .

Well, we're starting to pack. 6 more days until Disney :cheer2: . I'm overwhelmed. I had a nightmare last night that I was in MK and I had forgotten all of my papers with my itinerary and ps numbers and I had also forgotten my cell phone charger and my battery was dead and I couldn't find my DH anywhere. I seriously need to relax. I'm getting a little psycho over this trip.

Alice,

Great pictures!

DisKim,

Stay cool on your trip. It is so HOT down here right now!!!!!! I'm starting to wish I was back in Michigan. :cold:

Alice28, what beautiful pictures of your kids! They all look so happy and Molly has gotten so big so quickly!

Happy 2 month birthday to Jace! And congrats to him on sleeping so well in his own room for the 1st time.

Lissawynn, Madison drooled, chewed her hands or anything she could get in her mouth, all that teething stuff from the time she was 6 weeks old and her first tooth came in when she was almost 10 months old. So maybe his teeth are right around the corner, or you might have a nice wait ahead of you! After Madison got her 1st 2 teeth at 10 months, she didn't get anymore till 16 months, but all that teething business continued in the meantime and now she has 8 teeth with 9 and 10 on their way so it's pretty bad right now. She doesn't really complain about it though so I'm lucky.

Kona drools all the time and chews on her entire hand. Sometimes I think she's going to chew the thing right off her arm.

I keep looking for teeth and don't see anything. :confused3

We only swaddled Kylie for a couple weeks. She kicks majorly and we couldn't keep her swaddled no matter what we did. Remember how I said she kicked a hole in her changing pad?

As far as teething, Kylie has been teething for nearly 2 months. She chews everything and drools terribly. We have to keep a bib on her b/c the drool is so bad, but so far she has no teeth. I got my first tooth around 4 months and had all of them by 8-9 months. Dh only had his top 2 and bottom 2 at a year old so I'm not sure when Kylie will get teeth.

Alice~ Your kids are adorable! Molly's getting so big!

joats~ Glad Jace did well last night and happy 2 month b-day to him! Have fun at the zoo. We went when Kylie was around 2 months too but it was too hot then so we didn't stay long.

Tamie~ I hope last night continued to go smoothly for all of you!

Well, last night was the first night of letting Kylie cry it out. She has gotten so used to having mama rock her to sleep that I have been having a hard time laying her down at night. She wants to sleep in my arms and it's usually around 2 a.m. before I finally get her to sleep in her own crib. Then she sleeps 8-10 hours. I decided this was getting to be a bad habit and we needed to break the cycle. So I made sure I did everything I could to make last night easy on her. I gave her a warm bath, then rubbed some of that bedtime lotion on her (it's supposed to help sooth babies to help them sleep better), diapered her, dressed her, and fed her. I even bought a sleepy wonderland Winnie the Pooh thing for her and put it on her crib. It plays music and projects images onto the ceiling. She is fascinated by things like that. Anyway, I layed her in her crib and shut the door. I then went to the kitchen to clean up some. She cried for 5 min. before falling asleep, but she woke up 30 min. later. I let her cry for 30 min. and she fell back asleep. She woke up again 30 min. later, but this time she just talked to herself a few min. and went back to sleep. She slept for 10 hours! It was wonderful and I think our first night went better than expected. I hope tonight goes well. I wish I would have let her cry it out sooner honestly. But I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do it. Dh couldn't stand to let her cry. He wanted to rush in and comfort her right away (he's really attached to her as she is to him) but I told him if he did then he had to stay up till 2 a.m. w/her. He definitely didn't want to do that so we let her cry and this morning he was glad we did! ;)

Alice28 - You have a beautiful family!

We decided to bid on a miracle blanket on ebay. If it doesn't work, I guess we can always sell it back. I'm just willing to try anything at this point. I know he's still pretty young and we shouldn't expect him to sleep through the night, but even 4 or 5 hours would be good.

He had his 2 month checkup today. He's now average in both height and weight. He's always been average height and finally caught up in weight. He also had his shots - he was really good the whole time and only cried a little bit during the process. I'm keeping the Infant Tylenol ready just in case.

Beautiful children, Robin :sunny: !

Happy 2 month birthday to Jace :flower: !

SL,
I haven't heard of the miracle blanket before. Please let us know how it works out for you. I agree with you 4 straight hours sounds like heaven to me.

I think our problem may be that she gets cold even though I always make sure she has warm pjs on and the AC is off in the room (or on 75 if it's just too hot for it to be off). She sleeps longer if I let her sleep in my bed next to me and I think it's bacause of my body heat but I'm really nervous to let her start sleeping with me all the time. I've only done it a couple of times out of exhaustion. Dh works third shift so it's just me and I alway make sure she isn't near the pillows or blankets but I'm still scared she will smother. Plus, DS slept with us until he was four (not when he was an infant though) and I don't want that to happen this time if I can help it.

It's not an ear infection or teething - the doctor thinks it's probably a stomach bug that's been going around. Poor little man! She said he's sounding much better with the congestion from the cold, so I guess he's halfway to better. He's not being a ringing endorsement for my sister who's visiting and considering a baby.

He's been drooling and chewing on things since he was 10 weeks old but still no sign of teeth.

We gave up on swaddling when Russ was about 2 weeeks old - he just never liked it. He sleeps on his side now with his back arched - the exact opposite of fetal position. He's always cold (no fat on him to keep him warm) and so we let him sleep with blankets.

congrats on the crying it out Tasha - sounds like it went well.

Tyler slept until midnight then I just went in and repositioned him (he worked his way against the side of the crib) and he was asleep in 5 minutes and slept until 5 am.

We are spending a week up north at a cabin with my parents soon, we'll see how the sleep goes in a new environment.

There are such great pictures of all the babies! What a great crew we have assembled here.

If you are looking for a Misty Mate you might check at a sporting goods place, we got ours at REI, but I've seen them in the hiking sections of Sports Authority and Academy too. They look like long narrow insulated water bottles in a zip up sleeve, and have a small hose coming out. Probably because that is what they are...

For us the sleeping longer hours thing just "happened" all of the sudden, my kids went from 2-3 hours to 5-6 hours. We still go back every once in a while, even with the older ones because they have their own issues (monsters and such).

YIKES! I took my kids' pictures off after reading that...I have heard of that before and besides being a dope about how to post pictures, that was part of the reason I didn't do it...I'm normally not paranoid, but that is creepy. I see that most of you ladies saw my kids, so I'm happy with that. Thanks for all the compliments! I think they're pretty cute too, but I'm ready for school to start so I can get a break from the "cuteness" for a few hours a day. ;)

It has been 52 weeks almost to the hour that DH started his tour. (1 year to the day tomorrow) :earseek: Time flies. I spoke with my family coordinator today & I guess a rumor has been flying that they may even be home before Christmas. I'll believe that when I see DH's face in front of me...still assuming it will be January. Too many years married to a military man (even if it's the reserves) to know NOT to believe anything you hear unless you see it on a government document or see your soldier coming or going for real.

Just wanted to let all of you know that that thread has since been updated and it wasn't exactly what she thought it was. WM Alex has explained the mistake. If you all want to look and see what was said click on the link floridafam posted. Of course I would still be a little cautious of what pictures I posted though as anyone could get hold of them if they really wanted to. But what the OP of that thread thought had happened wasn't actually what had happened from what I gathered.

Anyway, tonight has gone wonderfully. Kylie only cried for 23 min. (last night was about 30) and is now sound asleep. And since it is almost 10 p.m. here, I think I will be going to bed too! Night all!

Ack! It is almost 1am and we have an early day planned for tomorrow. We need to be out of the house by 6am for a day trip to the shore with my sister and her 8 week old. He has been sleeping since 9:00pm!!!! Usually goes right back to sleep after the 2-3am feeding but I'm afraid this won't be the case tonight. Curse my addiction to these boards! I should have gone to bed at 11!! I'm afraid to go to sleep now because I know as soon as I do, he is going to wake up. 7 weeks today and he has been running my life since the second he was born...... I love him so much!

It's a bad day already!!!!! No sleep!!!!

Is it at all possible to try to get him on some sort of schedule?

The weather has cooled off here the last two days, so I put Molly in her slightly cooler weather clothes in 6-12 months. They fit perfectly! :earseek: Great.....I mean one pair of Gymbo overalls doesn't have a lot of wiggle room in the torso---I did not have this issue with my boys, and they were big. But I think they might have just been more chunky, not l-o-n-g.

So I decided to measure her with my mom's help. She's a little over 28" long already! She won't be 6 months til Sept 8th! I'm like, oh my gosh....I have bought WAY too many clothes for this season in the 6-12 month size. I hope she gets enough use out of them! And already like 15 dresses for 12-18 months next spring/summer! I'm sure those will be ok, cause they're dresses and it's ok if they're a little short- not like rompers with the snaps. I'm 5'9" and DH is 6', so I guess it makes sense she could be very tall.

But, hey, I guess it means I might get to do a little more shopping than I thought! And you gals know how I like my shopping! I've been taking a break lately. So proud of myself. (cause I'm saving for WDW!!)

T&S, very cute new photo of Kylie! She looks so happy! Is that a bouncy seat? Please tell me that it is so I can show my husband how happy she is in it-he wouldn't let me get a bouncy seat for Madison cause he was afraid she'd bounce and tip it over. I desparately want one for the next baby though so maybe this can help my case!

Tracey, I used to do that to when Madison first started sleeping longer periods, stay up thinking she was going to get up soon, then she'd sleep and I'd finally go to bed and she'd wake up. I don't think you can really get him on too much of a schedule yet, but maybe try putting him down for the night at the same time everynight and maybe it'll work? I don't mean leave him to cry cause IMO he's too young, but if he takes a late nap or something maybe try to make his bedtime instead. Sorry, I can't be of much help cause Madison sorta made herself a schedule around 5 or 6 weeks old. She'd cry about an hour at 9pm, then go to bed for the night. Sometimes she'd wake around 3:30 for a feeding, then go back to sleep till 7:30. Other nights she'd just sleep through till 7.

Alice28, wow, Molly is a tall girl! Madison wasn't 28 inches till she was 9 months old, and she is in the 75th percentile for height! Could you maybe exchange some of the 6-12 month stuff for 12-18 months? I can kinda empathize with you on that though. I got Madison all 18-24 month stuff for the fall, but I'm so worried it will be too big in the waist cause right now they're pretty huge, but 12-18 months is getting too small in length. I wouldn't mind if they were a little baggy, but the pants fall down as she runs in them!

Yes, that is a bouncy seat! And (this should definitely help your case here!) it has been a complete lifesaver! It was the only thing Kylie would let me put her in for a couple of months when I needed to put her down to eat or something. She loved it! And yes, she could bounce in it but it has never tipped. Kylie kicks nonstop and always has so if she didn't tip it over then I doubt that should be a problem for you. Plus, she hated her swing until recently and I don't know what I would have done without her bouncer! It is an old one that was given to us by the ILs so it isn't like the ones that have batteries and can be turned on and off. She has to do all the bouncing herself. I wish we'd had a newer one but she has pretty much outgrown it anyway (she doesn't like to lay back in it as much anymore b/c she likes to sit straight up now) and it wouldn't be worth the money to get a new one at this point. But I am getting a battery powered one for our next child, that's for sure.

Alice28 Molly is as long as Jimmy!

I don't know what it is, but I have been so tired these last few days. Getting up early and going to school for just a few hours is wearing me out. I can't imagine how life is going to be when I go back to work for real.
My dad, on the other hand, is so happy to be full-time pop-pop again. Jimmy has been going to his house while I've been at school in the afternoons, and my dad loves having "his" boys back. I am so thankful I don't have to send him to daycare!

I had a massage today! My Midwife has a student who is learning/specializing in pre/post natal massage. It was really nice and I was very relaxed. :)

We also weighed Eli at the appointment. He is at 9lbs. 12.5oz! He gained almost 2 lbs. in 2 weeks. :)

Eli doesn't like the bouncy seat or swing yet. He will just lay on the floor and look around for awhile. :)

Question for BFing Moms. What nursing pads are you using? I decided to try the Lansinoh. I really like the way they absorb and that they are thin. I never feel wet with them. However, I don't like that they are folded and they don't give a smooth look, KWIM? I used Johnson & Johnson with DD. I swore by them with her (love the shape), but I hate how they feel so wet. I leak a lot so this is a big thing for me. Anyone have recmmendations?
