Good morning!

ryan--Your job sounds like fun! Getting to work with all those new babies. It's a good thing I babysit a little one twice a week, or I might be getting baby fever!

Speaking of babysitting, the little one should be here in the next half hour! Check in later!

Those vaccinations must be tough (I hate taking the girls in for them).

Madeleine got RSV at about 4 months - and it was the never-ending cold. And snot. And coughing. (I think she and Jacob are almost the same age) and I would have taken the vaccine instead of this awful virus.

Jacob was born Aug 1, so I think they are pretty much the same age! At about 3.5 months, Jacob was so snotty & coughing & seemed really sick. They did the RSV swab on him and he did not have it then (November). Ever since then, I swear he won't go more than a week without having a runny or snotty nose! And an occasional cough. I've told the doctor I'm concerned because he seems to have chronic congestion. In fact, I can remember taking him in at 8 weeks old or something with congestion. At that time, it was only upper respiratory, so they aren't concerned unless it's in his chest. Which the November stuff was. Jeff & I got really sick too. We were all sick for Thanksgiving! Anyway, he seems to stay some sort of sick, even with the Synagist vaccine! Just before New Year's he had a fever and elevated WBC, so we had him on an antibiotic for 10 days. His nose cleared up then! But when he finished the meds, it was right back to being congested!

LglBlonde - Jacob is in a daycare, right? I ask cause Madison has a perpetual cold during the school year. She started going last September at 18 months and from late Sept through June she had a persistant cold/cough/runny nose. Over the summer she was pretty much okay (though she went to camp then so I can't quite figure out why camp didn't get her as sick as school) but as soon as school started up again in September so did the colds.

And Henry catches every germ Madison brings home so he's had colds on and off since October too. Right around the same time you said Jacob was sick, mid-November, Henry got sick too and his congested cough lasted till around 1/1. We rarely go to the dr but I finally took him in for the cough cause it had been a month and no improvement. They said it was probably just cause he gets one cold after another so the cough doesn't get a chance to go away.

Hopefully that's the case with Jacob too, cause he seems like he's a pretty healthy little boy otherwise!

Ryan840 - I so couldn't work in a hospital with newborns cause I know I'd want to have another baby!! I do want another one, but years from now. Logically anyway, but when I see newborns the urge comes back and I'm so not ready for that!! Enjoy the job though-babies are so cute!

J&D - I wish Calgon could take me away!

Morning Mommies!

It's been awhile since I posted, but I still lurk to see what all is going on.

We finally scheduled Jose Sr.'s thyroid surgery. It will be 1/31. He'll be in the hospital overnight, so I'll be taking off work to stay with him. I was hoping they could do it while I'm already on my leave from work, but, hey the sooner the better. I'm hoping he'll be 100% by the time we go in for my c-section on 2/15.

Well, I am here with daughter, SIL and new grandaughter! She (Haley) is a doll. Just a doll. It is fun to see them (babies) and all, even the crying. (ok, maybe not so much the crying :rotfl2: ), but their eyes open from sleeping, to their perfectness while sleeping.........awww just too cute.....

Oaky, now.........I tell you as a mother, grandmother and mother-in-law, it is so hard to be here and see a young couple learn and deal with a new baby. heeee
I am keeping my mouth shut, that is for sure! :rotfl: It is hard to toss out an opinion, because I know people may not be in the mood for opinions. My SIL is a great hands on dad. I wish My daughter would be more of a hands on. SIL is the one that does like so much! We have not gone out much , but when we do, HE is the one doing it all! My daughter loves her sleep and she has GOT to get her act together once I am gone and just deal with caring for baby in the wee hours! SIL needs his sleep as HE is the working parent! I have had baby (easier to type out :rotfl: ) sleep in HER crib in HER room while I sleep there too on blow up bed. I have (not every night) gotten up for her, etc. Last night I was going to get full night's sleep and (remember, daughter got two full nights sleep) when I woke this morning (7am !!!!) I asked daughter how many times she woke up.....she said this and that and then when she woke around 3amish, she was so sleepy she asked SIL for help. I HAD to say, Audrey, you got to do this on your own, You have to let SIL sleep during work days). I said it. right or wrong I said it. I dont toss out opinions at all(okay, much). I will work around their rules. that is fine with me. Hard at times, but ...................:rotfl2:
My SIL does the swadle way tooooo good! so good, daughter just asks him to do it. He depends on him to do so much. Trust me, I have said (even him) you do it audrey! :confused3
It is Friday as I type this and I have till Thursday.......
OH, I got to meet up with fellow DIS'er who lives in Okinawa, Japan!!!! for lunch the other day! small world, huh? It was so nice!!!! A wonderful treat!!!!!
okay, gotta, go it is 9:35 am and Haley is getting fussy. Gotta go and watch and ready to pick up when needed. (dd is sleeping)...................

Hi all! Sorry I've been MIA--it's just been a real busy week around here, and everyone's been fighting colds.

Hermosa, I must tell you, your granddaughter is just beautiful! Of course, who could resist a sleeping baby! And your DD may not want to hear it, but you're right about her taking on more of the night duties. It's hard, we all know that. What DH and I did with our first was, we found that I needed my "early night" sleep more, while he needed his "early morning" sleep more. So he would take the ~1am shift, while I would take the ~4 am shift. Especially if your DSIL is back at work, he needs to get sleep. But I think it's such an adjustment all around.

justine--How are things going?

ryan--That sounds like fun, snuggling newborns. I already miss that.

Darn it! Crying baby AGAIN! I swear, that kid is uncanny!

Congrats, She is too adorable.:cutie:

Hermosa your granddaughter is toooo cute!! Awww, I love those sleeping photos! About your daughter not doing much but sleeping, I don't know her or anything about her, but is it possible that she has PPD? I don't have any firsthand experience, but my friend had a baby 2 months before my son and she felt similarly for awhile and her dr diagnosed her with PPD. She went on medication and now she's doing much better. In her case, her husband doesn't really help much though, so that may have made it more evident than with your daughter. What I mean is that since my friend's husband won't get up during the night with the baby and doesn't help a whole lot during the day either, so she really felt like she couldn't keep her head above water. She was also sleepy all the time, and that has improved a lot since the meds too.

NyPrincess - Good luck with your husband's thyroid surgery. What exactly are they doing to it? My MIL had hers removed when my husband was younger and it made a huge difference in her life.

Busy day shopping so I'm very worn out and ready for bed.

Hermosa, very cute. You must be so proud. Congradulations.

Just that, I had the same thoughts as you with the possibility of PPD. It might be worth looking into, or at least talking with DD exploring how she is feeling. Becoming a 1st time mother isn't easy. You sound like a wonderful mother to DD, she is lucky to have you there now (and your SIL sounds great too.)

Hope everyone is doing well.

They have to remove a solid mass from one side that is the size of a normal thyroid. Once its out, they will examine it to determine if it is cancerous. If it is, they will check the other side to make sure everything is ok there. He'll be in the hospital overnight, so my mom is going to watch our son while I'm at the hospital with him. The ENT that we went to said that he doesn't think that this mass has anything to do with his dizzy spells. If it doesn't help, we have to go see a Cardiologist and he has to be put on a halter monitor for a couple days.

Hermosa - she's just beautiful!! Thank you for sharing.

Hi everyone, how was your weekend? We went to the 2007 International Auto Show in Detroit and had the best time. Alex is obsessed with cars and I think it may have been funner than WDW to him :rotfl: Jack was unbelievably good the whole time, totally loving it. I wore him in the mei-tai carrier for a lot of the time, and he spent every minute he was in it kicking his legs, waving his hand and saying "hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, haaaaaaaaiiiiiiii" and hammin it up! That was the first time he actually used a word on his own, he's said hi and yay for a while now but only in response to us. He also grabbed a lady who was walking past and stopped her because he wanted her attention, it was pretty funny. Today he started saying car so I guess he had a good time :teeth:

Hermosa- Your grand-daughter is just adorable! Congratulations :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: I was thinking the same thing as justhat and DisneyPhD about your daughter possibly having PPD, I have been struggling with it and have a lot of the same symptoms- when my husband is here he does 95% of the childcare (and housework for that matter) because I just can't find the energy or desire to do it. I love my kids more than anything and hate feeling this way and knowing that I'm missing out on so much of their growing up, which of course makes me feel worse. I would urge her to talk to her doctor about it and see what he/she has to say because the longer it goes untreated the worse it gets. I know that first hand because my son is 11 months now and I just realized what was going on and started seeking help a few months ago. Even though I'm a SAHM and the only care-giver during the day I've missed out on almost his entire first year, and I'd hate to see that happen to someone else.

J&D- Hi! Not much new here, just trying to get it together and planning a potential trip to WDW in May. Oh, and I got a mommy-van, :woohoo: It's so not me and I feel so stupid driving it but secretly I LOVE it! It is so roomy and convenient that I wouldn't have it any other way (well I'd get a big SUV if it wasn't for the gas mileage) You crack me up with your Calgon comments,
I used to say that all the time!

nucpharm- I took this job hoping it would help me get over my baby-fever, but somehow I don't think it'll work :rolleyes1

justhat- I'm in the exact same postion as you, already wanting another one but wanting to wait a few years. That's actually why I took the hospital position, to "tide me over" :silly:

DisneyPhD- I didn't meet the ladies you mentioned, I met Lucy, Maureen and Beth and had a phone interview with Kim- they were all very nice! There was a lot of talk there about how the groups still meet way beyond the first 6 months, there were even a couple of guys there to be group leaders which was pretty cool.
Oops, I'm out of time right now- hi to all the moms I missed :flower:

ETA- Here are some photos from the auto show, the first three are a really cool SUV by Suzuki (I can't remember if it was just a concept or a model that they were putting into production) that is totally set up for camping/outdoor use, complete with fold out table, attached awning and what I am almost positive was a BBQ and removable coolers in the back! The next one isn't a great shot but was a simulator ride of one of Toyota's new cars called the FJ Cruiser. The rest are just pictures of us in the cars and walking around.

ryan--your kids are adorable. And you look great as well. We traded in our Ford Explorer after DD was around 5 months old for the mommy van. It's just so much more practical than the SUV and I can cram so much stuff in there. I love my van now, and I wouldn't trade it for anything, except maybe a new model!;)

Ryan, love the pics. Glad you had a good time. I think the last time I was at the Auto show was for work. That must of been 4 or more years ago now. Of course we brought a group of DD deaf adults, and a few of them ad "issues" it was fun still. It looks like you guys had a good time. I love the Mi Ti, I wish I had managed to get a sling or something like that to work when my girls were babies. Next time............ If there is one.

I think I have seen enough pics of you that I might recognize you if I ran into you somewhere. Either that or just stare at you and go "I know her from somewhere."

A friend of mine does the hospital parent program news letter. She hates coming up with stuff for it so he just does herself and sticks our names on it. She is a bit of control freak, but puts out a good newsletter.

Anna had her dance recital this weekend. It was really cute. She did great. This was her 1st time doing something like this. I really like the dance studio. All the dances and songs were appropriate, even the ones the HS and older kids did. Fun costumes, but none that looked like they belonged in a PG 13or older movie. The dance teachers are so good with kids too. I miss dancing myself.

All Lily has wanted to do since coming back from WDW is watch the home videos and look at the pictures. DH got a new DVD recorder and he has transferred them all to DVD. We can't edit them on the computer like I want to, but we did transfer the digital pictures on a slide show and even set them to WDW music in the back ground. It looks really good. We are going to make a copy of it and send it to DH's parents who are in FLA for the winter. We put the dance recital on there too. Lily dances along, it is too cute.

Nucpharm, that was us with the mini van too. Lily was 2 weeks old and we were in the dealer getting a van. It wasn't so much my 2 kids I needed it for, but my brothers 3 kids I take care of a lot. We could no longer fit them all in one car if I needed to pick them up or take them somewhere. I love my mini van. I wouldn't trade it, except for a newer one too. The sliding remote doors are a God sent. The girls love the DVD player. I love all the room, and it doesn't feel too big, but is big enough to travel in. I must admit, I tend to steal DH's new Civic when I can. That is one small sweet car. I

I hope everyone is doing well. Hi, check in. Let us know how you are.

Hi all!

We are back from our trip. We had a great time. The weather was perfect!

hermosa - your granddaughter is beautiful!!! So sweet!

ryan - Great pics too!

hi to everyone!!

Tamie

Hi everybody! I still try to drop by now and again, but it has been tough since we moved. This job is much more labor intense than my last. I can't believe how big the kids are getting. Michael just had his 2nd Bday, and my oldest DD turned 7 last Friday. I love seeing how everyone is growing and think about you guys!!

Happy New Year. I'm only a little late, right??

Hermosa- Haley is precious. Enjoy the rest of your visit. :cloud9:

ryan- Cute pics. The boys are getting so big, especially Jack Jack. ;)

ahutton- Good to see you. Are you missing TX yet? ;)

Welcome back, Tamie!

Hi to all other mommies!

Ryan - Your boys are getting so big. I can't believe how much Jack has grown since your sig photos! We've never been to a car show but I bet Madison would like it. We have a "Truck Touch" here in the spring that we missed last year that I'm hoping to be around for this time.

Ahutton - Good to hear from you. Happy birthday to your "baby"!

Nucpharm - I have an Explorer and just can't do the switch to a minivan yet. I think once we have a 3rd kid it will be unavoidable though.

PhD - Sounds like Lily enjoyed the trip.

Time to get Madison in bed!

Hi everyone!

Hope you are all keeping well. I love seeing everyones pictures!

I'm doing ok, better than I expected really. Everyone is being great at work! All my coworkers keep asking me how I do it with 4 boys at home. I tell them you have to be organized. :rotfl: I am really tired at night now, moreso than before. It must be the drive. I have to drive 30 mins each way.

Marilynn

Cabmom, you are an inspiration! I'm constantly fighting to just go with the flow and realize that the things that are stressing me today are very unlikely to be the things stressing me in a year.
