The Official New Mom Thread Part 2

We don't miss Texas yet, but do miss a few things Texas had and are different in Arizona. I miss breakfast tacos, barbecue restaurants and going into downtown Austin. I can't believe they have snow there now that we are gone!! Now we love being around the corner from my parents, and just a couple hours away from DHs parents, and my new job is good, just more hectic than my last.

I do have to say, now that we have 3 kids I'm not getting that desire to have more babies that some of you guys have mentioned. DH took care of that after DS, so no more will be coming, but even if we could I don't think we would. I'm looking forward to future milestones and not missing the baby stuff so much anymore.

We are excitedly planning a WDW trip in late May. I called and got an ADR for Cindy's breakfast in the castle for the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Must be "meant to be" because I had no trouble getting the date and time we wanted!!

Hi moms, just popping in real quick to say hi. It looks like our May trip is a go, and I even convinced my parents to come so we get some free help! I'm exhausted so I'm off to the couch for some down time, have a great night!

Ryan & Hermosa - love the pics!

I'm sorry to be so MIA. I have been obnoxiously busy and am exhausted. The boys have been sick. Throwing up and the whole deal. I sure hope they get better soon.

Ryan - yippee on the trip! It'll be here before you know it!

ahutton - I am sure the Cindy meal will be fabulous! I'm so glad you had no trouble with the reservations!

justhat - third kid? Something in the works already?;)

Disneyphd - Anna's recital sounds wonderful. Those moments always bring tears to my eyes.

J&D, Tamie, Nucpharm & other DIS moms, HELLO!

GLT - I think I'd die if that 3rd kid came within the next, oh, 3 years!

Ryan - Congrats on planning a trip! I bet it will be so different this year with Jack actually able to enjoy things now.

Gotta get everyone ready to go to school!

TGIF!

ahutton & ryan- Have fun planning your trips.

GLT- Hope the boys feel better soon.

cabmom- Glad to hear that things are going well at work.

DisneyPhD- Did Sharla's book get published yet? I can't remember the name of it.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

I emailed her a few weeks ago and got a reply back, but she didn't say how the book was coming.

I know she has a new website for it, but it doesn't look like it has moved much so I guess other things in her life has been keeping her busy (she is a mom too, her youngest is a little bit older then Lily, her oldest is out of HS not I think, or close to it.) She is such a wonderful person, who I have really enjoyed getting to know.

Here is her website.

Snowy day here. It got down to 3 last night. Winter really gets me down, I think more then just not liking it as much as summer like DH. Still I have found drinking caffeine is helping (at least energy wise.) I guess this is why I live for WDW so much every winter. The draw to go just isn't as strong in the other seasons. We are trying to keep up our exercise routine, and that has helped too.

Good to hear from you J&D, Justthat, ryan840, gottalovethem, tykes and cabmom. Any other mom (new or not so new) lurkers that want to join during the quiet time?

I hope everyone is doing well.

I was just reading the past few pages and found myself laughing when you were talking about having to get bigger vehicles. We just bought our Impala in July 2005. It seats 5 and I absolutely love it! It was the perfect choice for us. Then, DH's parents moved in with us. Now, we have to look at something bigger. DH is liking a Pacifica; I'm liking something that we can afford. Of course, even with something bigger, they normally seat 6 people and that is just enough seats for everybody. Heaven forbid someone wants to go somewhere with us. I just want enough seats and enough space for the double stroller. Any suggestions?

There are some minivans that have extended backends which are great for strollers. I just got a 2002 Ford Windstar SEL, it has an extended back end that is much bigger than my Sienna. And it drives pretty well.

Good luck!

Hi J&D

Phd - we have cold and snow here too. In fact I think more snow is on it's way.

Have a great day Moms!

Yes, I think you get it a day or 2 before me. It is Jan after all, but at least near the end of it.

We love our Honda Odyssey, but many of the mini vans today are pretty similar.

I don't mind being a minivan mama. After all I like my life and who I am. :thumbsup2

I totally wouldn't mind having a mini-van. When I was learning how to drive, my parents had a Chevy Lumina. I'm talking the old Lumina that has the pointed front. It was like driving a space ship. Of course, it wasn't popular to drive a mini-van when you are 16 years old. Now, I have no problems driving one to get everyone where they need to go. I can imagine that its easier when you go to the grocery store.

nyprincess--We also have a Pacifica, which DH drives mostly. I love it, but not as much as the van. The Pacifica does have room for the double stroller, but then not much cargo room for anything else. but a big plus with the Pacifica for us, is that the middle two seats (we have the third row as well) as separated by enough distance that when the kiddos get a little older they won't be able to punch each other!:rotfl2:

LOL! I can totally picture my sons beating each other as they grow up. Of course, I dread anything that will be hard for my in-laws to get into. Such as a minivan or Pacifica. I don't even think they could do anything like a Trailblazer. We rented one when we went to Orlando and put DH's neices in the far back. Decisions, decisions.

MOMS! I just booked my first ever spa package, I've never had a massage or anything! My mom and I will be getting a massage, body wrap and facial at Saratoga Springs on Mothers Day- I'm sooo excited (and totally broke, I can't even believe I'm spending that kind of money on something like that, I never get myself anything)! It will be the perfect way to end a trip to WDW, don't you think? :woohoo: I actually feel really guilty about doing it though, which kinda ruins it :sad2:

justhat- The Truck Touch sounds fun, my boys would love it! I can't believe how big Jack is getting either- just this past week he has said his first word, followed by several others. He now says hi, yay, car, book and brother. He also just learned to give kisses, which of course involves eating half of my face and coating it with slobber :cloud9:

glt- How are your boys feeling now? I hope you and Lindsay didn't get sick too! How have you been lately?

DisneyPhD- I'm loving the snow, I've felt so ripped off this winter! The boys got sleds from Santa and this is the first chance that we may have to actually use them. Too bad jack's already outgrown the snowsuit Santa got him

nucpharm- Too funny about the kids not being able to punch each other
When they're older, I already have to worry about that with my little 's

I gotta go, hi to everyone I missed! Have a great weekend!

NYprincess. Maybe start a thread about what bigger cars that are easy to get in and out off. I find the large numbers of people on Dis have good ideas.

Ryan, I crammed Lily into a size 6-9 month snow pants the other day! It fit, but barely. Anna is getting ready to go outside. She can play on her own, but Lily needs me. I don't want to go. What do you think my chances of convincing Lily to stay in with me?

Your spa package sounds great! I had a message once at SSR, it was very nice.

Hi Ryan: Thank you for inquiring about the boys. Leif got sick AGAIN last night, DD got sick the night before last and everyone is cranky as all get out this afternoon. WTG on the spa package! You certainly deserve it. I am glad you are going to do it, a perfect Mother's Day Gift and wonderful, magical moment!

Phd- we made a quick snowman today - it's about freezing temp out so good snowman weather. And within 5 minutes Leif was crying and wanting in. Hope Lily stayed in with you today.

nucpharm - if that works to stop the fighting, let me know. DD and DS love to kick the back of the other person's seat if one's in the back and the other in the front, they always find a way to drive the other crazy:rolleyes: However, they can also be as sweet as all get out to each other

nyprincess - good luck on the vehicle front! My neighbors have a suburban and seem to really like it. Maybe a limo;) then you could all travel in style:lmao: with a cute driver too

We did end up gong out in the snow, but the whole family went sledding and out for McDonalds after. It wasn't that cold and it was fun.

This thread has gotten so small, that I thought I would start a new one that might encourage some new members to join. It can be intimidating to click on thread with 847 pages.

I hope the people still left here will post there too. I would love to see everyone, lurkers too.

Here is a link.

After all it is January, time for a fresh start.

Ryan - don't let yourself feel guilty for a good spa treatment! The less we take care of ourselves, the less we can take care of others. I was really intimidated the first time that I had a full body massage (what, am I supposed to just *get naked* or what??).

The only time I did a wrap, they put minerals under my bum and I percolated like a wine spritzer. :lmao:

Ryan - I can't believe Jack can say words already. That's great! I love listening to babies first few words. And the kisses are too cute. I say that Henry tries to give kisses too, but I really think he's just trying to eat my face in hope some milk comes out.

Enjoy the spa day! I went for a pregnancy massage about a week before I had Henry and I swear I could get addicted to them!

Gotta get ready for the day. I feel like I haven't showered in ages so I'm looking forward to that as soon as my husband gets home!

Hi all! Sorry I've been MIA--things have been so busy around here, and DH has been sick. That means that I've been doing all the schlepping of the kids, and wrestling has started, as has the extra dance rehearsals for special stuff. I guess I can't complain that Jocelyn gets picked for solos and the big opening number--she's earned her spots, but it just becomes one more thing to do, one more costume to pay for, etc.

Ryan--that spa package sounds heavenly, i would probably fall right asleep during it! Of course, a godo nap never hurts.

GLT--Sorry to hear your kids are all sick. I hope things improve for you.

nyprincess--My DH is looking at the Dodge Durango for his next vehicle (he'll get a used one, a few years old). They seat 7, and the kids had no trouble getting into the rear seat. DH doesn't need to dirve all of us all the time, jsut his current sedan only seats 5, and not real comfortably for #5, so he needs to look bigger. I love my Chrysler minivan, which seats 7. I have the longer version so we can fit a stroller and stuff with everyone in it. For vacations and stuff, we put a carrier on the roof for the luggage.

nucpharm--I hate to break it to you, but your kids will find other ways of driving each other crazy! But hey, at least no physical contact, right?

Shoot, the little guy is up--gotta run. "Hi" to everyone else!
