The Official New Mom Thread Part 2

Not open for further replies.
cabmom and pooh4ever,

I'm so sorry about the PPD. I had it after DD2 but not after my 1st or 3rd. It did go away eventually. Please keep us posted on how you're doing.

FF - I'm glad you and your DH were able to work things out.

I have to leave for Chuck E Cheese in a minute. I love my friends but these Chuck E parties during the week are enough to kill me. Luckily, my mom can watch Aidan since DH has to work tonight. I feel like going like a hole in the head.

Aidan seems better, but he goes into these screaming fits every few minutes and they are driving me mad. I feel mean because I know he's sick but it is this high pitched scream that makes me want to tear my hair out.

Jill- yes, it’s outpatient surgery. It looks like I’ll only need local anesthesia too, which is good because I HATE general anesthesia.
I haven’t done much reading since we moved. We have a gorgeous new library here too, but I never make it down there.

Hillbeans- the teenage babysitter in my area is actually my sister. She gets a LOT of work too. I think there are weeks where she makes as much as I do.

FF- Hey, if I get you mad will you come clean my house? ;)

Quick hi and goodbye for me...need to run another set of errands - take the dog to be boarded, post office, cash machine, etc. Then it's off to see how much I can fit for Carson in the back of my car...DH is now driving home with us and he has a HUGE suitcase with him.:confused3 . Anyway, we're just driving him straight to O'Hare for a flight out to work in North Carolina...long stupid story.

Anyway, Dh is spending the whole day now with the realtor tomorrow. He's found out some info about a community a little farther out from Memphis that is the "new growing hot spot". They have already built new schools in the last year or two and evidently they are really strong and high on the state standards list. A plus is that housing and taxes are still lower so we might get a nicer home. SO, we're now looking at two suburbs - hopefully he can narrow down some houses so we'll find something on Saturday. Wish me luck cuz Saturday is my only chance!!!!!

Have a great weekend, everyone!:)

Dizagain - Have a great trip and best wishes on the househunting! :wizard:

Hey everybody!

Robin - thank you so much for checking in with me. We go to Cape Cod every year for New Year's, for most of a week - usually ending on Jan 2nd. We got home late that day and Madeleine hasn't allowed me to put her down since we returned.

It's very difficult to type with one hand! :surfweb:

Hope everyone is having a fabulous New Year. :grouphug:

Fabumouse - Great to hear from you again! Hope you enjoyed the Cape!

Diz - Good luck with the househunting! I hope you guys find something really nice in the new area!

DisKim - Sorry Aidan is still sick. to him. I know how irritating those shrill screams can be, even when you know that they're truly in pain/sick so I hope that ends soon.

FF - Glad you worked things out with your husband. Weird but I clean too when I and angry or upset. Then I get more annoyed, like why am I cleaning for the guy I'm mad at, which makes me clean more. Bizarre cycle. :confused3

Jill - I'm loving the weather here lately too! I'm so not looking forward to the rain that's coming though. I hope you picked up some good reads at the library. I was just telling Joey that I want to read something other than Goodnight Moon cause I am feeling literary deprived. I haven't read anything since Henry was born.

Oh, and I think you asked when our next WDW trip is. Well, we're going on a DCL Eastern Caribbean on 2/17 but flying into Orlando on 2/14. Our APs expired on 12/26 though so the only time we're going to the parks is for a Pirate and Princess Party on 2/15. We're thinking about going to Sea World or Universal for a day but my husband really doesn't want to spend the money on it so we're not sure yet. We're only flying in on the 14th cause it cost as much to fly in the 16th and stay in a hotel for a night as it did to fly in on the 14th and stay 3 nights. (And we're afraid of bad weather if we flew in the 17th.) We're staying at AKL which I'm really looking forward to. But enough rambling about that. After the cruise our next WDW trip will most likely be the 2008 meet.

Pooh4ever - That's great that the Lexapro is making such a difference compared to your last birth. Congrats on your little princess too!

Cabmom - Good luck going back to work. Be sure and let us know how the transition goes-you've been home over a year right?

Nucpharm - Thanks for the heads up on the Chico's sale. I didn't know they had a lingerie store as well. I have been looking for new panties since many of mine seem to have vanished since my pregnancy. Saying panties is so weird to me now cause Madison refuses to call them that and will only say underwear. They use that term in school so apparently that is now the "right" term in her mind so we've all switched. Anything that got her to wear them!;)

Hillbeans - 8 days would not be enough time for me to find a babysitter either. We don't really have a babysitter so I try to plan my mom's visits around events I know the kids can't go to. I had one for Madison when Henry was born but now she's working and in college so her hours are not that flexible. (Part of it too is that we'd have to pick her up about 45 minutes away which we don't want to do often, or she has to take 2 buses which takes about an hour.) One of Madison's asst teachers just told me she'd love to babysit my kids so I think I'll have to take her up on that sometime. She has 2 kids of her own so I never thought to ask her but apparently she's willing.

Ginamarie - I can't believe that cyst could have stopped hair growth! How terrible would that have been! Good thing you ended up going to the dr about it last month. I'm glad to hear that the surgery is a simple procedure and no general anesthetic.

Alice28 - Congrats on the ebay sales and I hope the craigslist stuff went well today. Were you asking if you could get 2 rooms with the 1 AP? If so, yes, you can get up to 3 rooms with just 1 AP. Though I have to tell you, the only bad thing if you got the AP would be that then you'd really be trying to get back there! They were the only reason we made so many trips in the past couple of years, cause once you have the pass then you start saying "well I only have to pay for airfare and the resort, and I get a room discount so...." So with that logic it'll be good if you don't get it cause it'll keep you from spending more money on another trip!

We got a Birthday Express catalog in the mail today and Madison looked through it and decided she wants a Cars theme party. So I started thinking about her birthday, which is all too soon for me, and when I was looking for Cars stuff online saw they have Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I don't know if I should show her though cause she was totally set on Cars and I think I could do a lot with it. MMC is her absolute favorite though so part of me thinks I should let her decide herself since it's her party. Of course my bigger dilemma is where to have it cause my husband doesn't want it in our house cause it's pretty small, but I honestly have no idea where we can go. I would do CEC in a second except that they're all far away from here (minimum 30 minute drive). There's a cute pottery shop that does parties but I think the kids are too young (they'll all be between 3 and 5.5yo). If anyone has suggestions please share them!! I am really inclined to have it here, but it is pretty small so maybe it's a bad idea. I just think it would be the best theme wise.

Sorry about that huge post office story yesterday. I was jsut so frustrated I had to vent about it. People should not work in a service industry if they hate all people! Today was pretty uneventful luckily. I do have one other small vent though. My husband lost his cell phone on 12/26 and just found it the other day (on the floor of my car). Well there were a bunch of messages from mil about him not calling, etc. We have a house phone and I have a cell phone so if she wanted to talk to us for the holidays she could have called us! If it were me I know I'd call to at least wish my granddaughter a Merry Christmas/Happy New Year. Even if I were mad my son didn't call (and he did call on Christmas and talk to someone in his family) I'd still want to talk to my grandkids. Kind of annoys me, not so much that she's mad my husband didn't call but that she didn't bother calling us. Just can't figure people out sometimes.:confused3

I'm off to organize some of our basement holiday stuff into these new bins I bought before ER comes on.

Hey moms! Class went well today. I can't believe, though, that after all that reading and preparing answers to the questions I did last night, half the class didn't even have the book yet. So the professor ended up going through a Powerpoint and let us out 10 minutes early. My ID picture isn't even all that ugly so all in all, a good day. :thumbsup2

llij - Lucas had a rash all over when he had an allergic reaction to citrus. Do you think it may be an allergy? I recently read The Devil Wears Prada and another book by the same author, Everyone Worth Knowing (I think). Mindless, easy reads.

cabmom - Good luck returning to work.

DisKim - Sorry the situation with your mom and the Disney trip isn't working out.

floridafam - Glad all is right with your DH now.

gm - Good luck with the surgery. How long is the recovery time?

fabumouse - I've never been to the Cape in the winter. Where do you stay?

hillbeans - Sorry I have no advice on the sitter. I don't even know any teens in my area. We've been using family.

I've got a million things to do before bedtime since I wasn't home all evening so GOOD NIGHT!

Evening ladies~

Fab- glad you are still out there! Hope your trip was a good one.

Diz- good luck this weekend! Hope the perfect house comes your way.

Kim- I hope everything works out with a hotel and your mom/family.

Justine- you're killing me with the AP information. Killing me. I'm still thinking about it. I can't wait to get the new Bday Express catalog- the MMC design sounds super cute and Molly's birthday is in 2 months. Although I think I am just going to invite my parents, best friend and her family, and maybe our neighbors to meet us at Chevy's. Or maybe I will get some Baja Fresh trays to go and have it here. Something simple anyway.

Pooh4ever- I'm glad the meds seem to be helping you- that's a relief!

Jill- the CraigsList thing went fine- she came in, looked at the pans, gave me $40, and left. Easy! She actually said, "Oh, I love your couch!" I practically snorted and said, "With the writing on it?" And she said, "Oh...yeah....well, it's still nice!" I wanted to say, "You can have it for $100!" It's the biggest piece of crapiola.

SL- glad your ID card photo was a keeper!

FF- glad you and your DH sorted things out. I clean when I'm mad too. Must be a woman thing. I need to get mad tomorrow, cause my house is getting dirty again.

BUT, I have my Spa appt tomorrow! Yippee! Can't wait.

BNB- I will be interested to hear how it goes tomorrow with Jocelyn and her hair down- Scott must be a special guy to go through that trouble! :cutie: Good luck Mom! I'm giving your DH a cyber smack on the head for what he did to you the other night. As FF said, "Men."

GM- I hope the cyst removal goes really smoothly. Glad it's just local anesthetic! And thanks for the mail today! Cute! :)

GLT- How's it going today? How are the kids? Anything new with the X? How are you hanging in there?

Hi Cab! Keep us posted on the work situation and how you are doing with the PPD. I know it's so hard...:grouphug:

Hillbeans- we had a couple teenage babysitters for Sam. Then they moved or got too old to babysit. We have none right now. There is that teen that lives next store (who I wouldn't ask to babysit ever now) but we asked her about 3 years ago, when she was 14 or 15 if she would babysit and she said, "No. I don't babysit. I had a bad experience." Uh, ok............... DH was like, "our kids are really good and we will pay you $20 for only 3 hours" and she still said no! What a brat. We are going to start going to a local church in a week or two, and I plan on perusing the help wanted board that they will probably have there- there are usually postings from babysitters. We have my parents, but I would like a backup too. Maybe you could post a wanted ad at the local high school and then ask for references for other people they babysit for? Or a jr college?

Well, I need to scoot. I'm getting a headache (again) and I'm just tired. Didn't sleep well last night and had to get up early for Sam. DH has to work late tonight and tomorrow, plus has drill this weekend. Pray he doesn't break his leg- part of their drill is SKIING on Sunday- like search and rescue stuff (a la Mt. Hood rescue story....sad.....). he hasn't skied (SP?) since we started dating in 1990!!!!! The kids and I had a glamorous dinner at BK tonight and then we did something I haven't done since I first got married- we perused Goodwill. The kids each picked out a toy, and although the toy aisle looked like it exploded, I actually could have got a few more things! But I only had $5 on me. They had a Wiggles guitar, some neat doll houses, peek a block stuff. Geez, I should save myself $80 and just shop for Molly's birthday at Goodwill and spend $20 on 5-6 toys instead of a $100 at Target!

Hi ladies. I just wanted to pop in quickly and let you know I'm still here. I've been sick with a head cold and cough since returning to school. I'm also experiencing terrible swelling in my feet and hands. I had a drs. appointment on Wed. and she told me it's perfectly normal. I went home yesterday and pretty much stayed in bed w/my feet propped up all night.
I have to get our wireless connection up and running again so I can have the laptop upstairs with me.

I hope you're all well and I will try to check in this weekend. I have a ton of stuff to do for school and need to get some stuff ready for my leave.

Have a great Friday!

Mornin' Ladies,

Not sure who asked me about our Roomba, but we really like it. The only downside to it would be that you can't have anything on the floor like shoelaces or a lot of furniture it could get hung up on. Besides that, it does pick up well, especially on hardwood flooring.

Justine - i'm glad i'm not the only one who doesn't have an on-call babysitter. Quite honestly, DH and I like spending time with the kids but I would like to have a neighborhood teen so DH and I could go out once a month for dinner or a movie. Is it that weird to make plans a month in advance? I didn't think so until I posted my question on the CB. And I also agree that I think it's regional. Our little town is funny - there are lots of kids or senior citizens - but not a lot of teens. I think i'll post a note at the library and supermarket and see what kind of response I get.

Jill - Kevin did know my mom - she died when he was 2.5 years old. I used to drag him to the hospital all the time because they had a big fishtank on her floor and he liked looking at the fish and Nemo was popular at the time. Unfortunately he doesn't remember her anymore, which is sad. I'm glad John's rash is going away. THe weather here is really nice too (I hear your cherry blossoms are starting to bloom :upsidedow ). It's supposed to be 70 tomorrow but next week will be in the 40's.

Lissawynn - hang in there girlfriend! It's getting close now.

Alice - WTG on the HUGE E-bay sale. That's awesome!!! :cool1: . I think you've been motivating a lot of us (me too) to get some more things listed. I have a 14 piece lot of Medium/Large maternity wear right now for sale and while I won't break the bank with it, it will be a nice bit of money to get my Disney spending fund started.

GM - Good luck today with the cyst removal. Keep us updated.

Cabmom and Pooh4ever - Glad you are both getting the help and meds you need. PPD is serious stuff and there is no better gift that you could give your family than being a happy and healthy mommy. :grouphug:

Diz - good luck with the househunting.

Fabumouse - nice to see you again also!

Tamie - when do you leave for WDW?

HI to J&D, BNB, Loretta, DisneyPhD, Joats, SL, and everyone!

Gotta go - more later.

Morning all!

On babysitters--we've had exactly 2 through the years, both "aged out". We don't have one now, but Jocelyn will be old enough soon, so not worth tracking one down, what with Luke still nursing and all. Our sitters were neighbors where we knew the girls and their parents. Other sources I would consider are through a church--not a guarantee by any means, but a teen who is active in their church with their family is likely to have good values. What Jocelyn plans to do in a few years is start her own sitting service, and she'll solicit clients at Celeste's soccer games. Already at soccer, she's like the Pied Piper, because she plays with Celeste and other little kids join in. It's a good idea I think--Jocelyn will have a parent there, and have a chance to get to know the child before she sits. I just told her that she shouldn't put her own cell phone # on her business card.

Oh, Jill, I think you asked me about DVC. We bought at the Beach Club because I could see it being the best choice both short term (schlepping back with toddlers at naptime, the pool), and long term (older kids wanting more Epcot time, the restaurants in WS). I know Robin's heart is in VWL, so different strokes for different folks. If they ever do open DVC at the Contemporary, I would be there so fast, your head would spin. And I'm curious about VAKL, but felt it would be too remote with little ones. I do hope to stay there someday with just DH and I.

dizagain--Good luck with house hunting!

justthat--There are cheaper sources online besides Birthday Express--consider iparty or partywarehouse.com. Same stuff, just cheaper. My kids fight over the BE catalog, though. Also Oriental Trading Co. for favors. Consider having a home party but just a few kids (maybe 5?). I'm big on home parties with tons of theming, but I have a rec room and a big yard. Jocelyn is already thinking about her party--in June! BTW, your PO story was awful--I would definitely complain. I hope the kids involved aren't scarred for life.

Oh, Jocelyn didn't say much about the hair being down yesterday, but casually mentioned that she had to walk Scott to the band room (he plays trumpet, as does she). We'll just have to see what happens.

Hi everyone....

Hillary, I have been meaning to post a response to your babysitter questions, and saw the one on the CB but didn't want to respond there. We don't really have a reagular babysitter either, we used to use the in-laws quite a bit but since the "fallout" we have not asked them at all...because MIL made it clear we couldn't and also I don't want my kids around her misery anyway. I keep telling DH we need to find a babysitter so we can get out once a month too. I feel like we really need a date night, that it can only help our marriage, but at the same time we enjoy being homebodies and right now at the age the kids are at, it is a non-issue.

BNB - I also meant to respond to you - I think what you said about losing parents was right on, a few pages back. (gosh I hope it was you that posted it, I can't remember exactly since my memory is shot) I definitely also feel like this is part of the circle of life, not to be hokey, but its true. I just feel like it would be easier to bear had my parents lives until I was into my older years. :confused3

FF - how are things with your DH? Better I hope!

Well, my weekend is going to be spent at my Dad's. Two of my sisters will be there and it helps having them around to commiserate with. DH just doesn't understand because his parents are both living. He says the right things but he just doesn't know what this feels like. On a bad note, they put my Dad on morphine yesterday because his pain has gotten so bad. Hospice said this is not a good sign, his pain increase. Needless to say I want to be there as much as I can. Thank goodness I have an understanding DH who is encouraging me to do what I need to do.

Have a good weekend everybody, I will be checking in from Dad's house.

I tried posting last night, but DIS wasn't working for me -- here's what I wrote, just pretend it's last night;)

Hi. Popping on super quick to tell you that I'm thinking of you. I'm just busy as can be -- and still not getting sleep. If it's not one child, it's another.

Last night DD and I were sleeping together, the dog was on the bed and halfway through the night DS decided he wanted to sleep in the bed too, but not next to DD and I couldn't budge her over, so he slept by my feet:lmao: Poor kid just wanted to be by Mom. I tell ya, if it's not one kid, it's another.

Oh, and tomorrow (now Today) is DS' 4th birthday!! I have decorated around the house so he'll be surprised when he wakes up. And I have most party stuff figured out, though now it looks as though there will just be a handful of kids, but that is just easier on me.

The X thing is going along. Too much to go into, but still bearable and not too bad. I'm sure that'll change tomorrow. We don't have any pending court dates that I know of until April. So time will tell what's coming my way.

nucpharm - thank you!:thumbsup2 Good luck with ebay. Robin got me thinking about it too, but aside from tons of videos, we don't have much to sell....

Bnb - Hope Jocelyn had a good day today! Watch out for those boys:rolleyes:

gm - sounds like your business is going well. I'm so glad as I know you were concerned for a while.

diskim - dealing with moms can sometimes be such a challenge, good luck!

Jill - Thank you!!:thumbsup2 Yeah about the bookshelves! Please keep us posted on all the medical stuff. I don't remember when the appts. are (I can barely remember my own) but I am thinking about and praying for you all. Glad to hear that about the counselor, I am kinda nervous about it because I'mworried DD will say that I'm a horrible mom and they will question my parenting, but I want her to be happy and well-adjusted, well, as much as a girl can be:goodvibes

FF - sorry you had such a stressful 24 hours. Glad you and DH were able to mend things.

Robin - thanks for asking about me! Have fun at hte spa tomorrow.

Hillbeans - I do use sitters occassionally and they have been pretty good. Some I have found that are old neighbors (now live several miles away, but worth it). Another I found was a helper at gymnastics (:sad2: I'm so sad DD isn't in gymnastics right now....sorry sidetracked). I used to sit as a teen and loved it. I say go for it. you could always have her come over a 1/2 hour or so early to get used to things and to help you feel comfortable.... good luck!

SL - sounds like you will be ahead of the class! Glad the day was ok for you.

Tasha, how are you holding up?

Zalansky -thinking of you

Gems- how are you feeling?

Cabmom - good luck with returning to work:grouphug:

pooh4ever - I have three too, 5, 4 and 16 months - it's crazy the first few months, but things do calm down! Glad the meds are helping!

bellacam - hope the medication works for you!

Tamie - working out sounds wonderful, I hope it went well (I so miss the Y).

lissawynn -how's the house coming, all done and moved back to normal now?

dizagain - good luck with the house hunting, did you catch my post about me coming to the baptism party?;)

icebrat, fabumouse - miss you!

Disneyphd - hope you are having fun at WDW!!

Sorry to those Mom's I'm missing. I've GOT to get to bed. Thinking of you all!

I'll read up and catch up today later!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LAINE!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: GLT, I hope that he has a great birthday! I understand your feelings about counseling and your dd saying something. My sister, I'm sure, had the same feelings. I'm sure that counselors hear all sorts of stuff and I bet your dd will tell them what a great mom she has.

SL - I'm glad to hear that your class went well! I thought about the citrus reaction as well since my sister has an allergy to it. I'm back to thinking it might be a mild case of chicken pox based upon the way it looks.

Z - I'm so sorry to hear that your dad is worsening. You are in my prayers.

BNBmom - My neighbor belongs to BC DVC and loves it. I'm hoping that one day we will buy into it! Keep us posted on Jocelyn and Scott!

Hillbeans - I'm sorry that Kevin doesn't remember your mom. Katie was 2 and Meagan was 4 when my FIL passed away. Neither one have memories of him (well, Meagan has a few) and it is sad since he was a great guy.

Good luck with the babysitter! We have an abundance of teens in the area and lots of my friends' kids are babysitting age. We just don't take advantage of it too much at this point b/c of John's age. It is a shame really b/c I miss spending time with my husband. It is too hectic to go out alone these days.

Justhat - I picked up a DCL brochure while we were at WDW and I am dreaming of one day going on one. You are going to have a great time on the cruise! When is the Mediterranean cruise sailing? That will be amazing!

As far as a party for Madison, do you think she is old enough for a Build A Bear type party at Pentagon City or Tysons?

Fabumouse - It is good to see you again! I hope that all is well.

Robin - I hope that you are feeling better and the headache is gone. Prayers being said for dh that he is safe while skiing!

Lissawynn - Hang in there! Not too much longer!

Gems - You hang in there too! I can't wait to hear how you and Flumpy are doing.

Today is pretty uneventful here. Meagan is home sick from school and has a case of the barfs. Poor thing. She also has a terrible headache and I think that is what made her sick. John still has his rash and my dh and I thinking it is chicken pox afterall. I don't want to bring him in to the Ped office though and pick up the nasty stomach bug again. At least Katie is healthy (knock on wood!).

Everyone have a great weekend! Any special weekend plans?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAINE!!!

Dizagain- good luck with the house search!

Fabs- Welcome back!!

Justhat- I’m hoping the Birthday Express doesn’t show up at my house. I already know I’ll want a Pooh birthday for Olivia, and MIL has said “you can do whatever you want for the birthday, just PLEASE NO POOH.”

SL- Good question about the recovery time. I didn’t even ask! I’m guessing it’s about a day or so. DH was asking me a bunch of other questions I couldn’t answer either. I was just so in shock about the whole thing at the appointment once the doctor said all my hair would have fallen out, I just said “ok, DO IT!”

Alice- Maybe the writing on the couch actually adds some value to it! All along you were thinking it was a disaster, when actually it’s an artistic masterpiece.

Hillbeans- I don’t think it’s weird to make plans that far in advance. I have to do that with most things, because there are way too many things to get done and nothing would fall into place otherwise. My sister knows her babysitting schedule at least 2-3 weeks in advance too (she sits for 3 different families and they all want to get her for certain nights before she books up).

Jill- Sorry you have sick kiddos today! Not too much going on for my weekend. DH has to work both days since he was home sick this week. A friend of mine might be driving up from NJ to visit, but I won’t find out if she’s coming until later today.

OK, back to work again. I have to leave early today because MIL insists on buying Olivia some shoes this afternoon.

Happy Birthday, Laine!! :bday:

alice28 - How's the headache? I still haven't had one since last weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed.

lissawynn - Sorry you're still not feeling well.

hillbeans - I just went back and read your babysitting thread. We often tell our clients to ask at local high schools or colleges about posting job ads. You might also want to see if the town has a youth job bank. My sister got a regular sitting job in high school through ours.

BnB - How cute that Jocelyn has a crush.

zalansky - Sorry your dad is doing worse. I hope your visit this weekend goes well.

llij - Hope Meagan feels better soon.

gm - Good luck shoe shopping.

I know J&D checked in after her trip but I haven't seen anything since. J&D...you out there?

Not much new here. Just another boring Friday. I don't think we have any weekend plans. I still have a mall gift card burning a hole in my pocket so I may go tomorrow. I should also get some reading done for class next week.

Just a quick post here since I have some work to do. I'm feeling like garbage today. My lungs hurt when I talk which is not pleasant considering the fact that I have to talk all day. Aidan is not doing any better. My mom said she just about took him to the ER. He is just acting so weird. He just writhes on the floor and screams in pain. She said he settled down though and went to sleep.

On babysitters - I'm lucky to have a mom that jumple in to babysit pretty much whenever she can. If she can't, then MIL does. If I was really in a pinch, I could always count on DH's brother, sister or niece to watch them. I'm really excited for the day when Emmy is old enough to babysit. Right now, DH and I still only get out maybe once ever 2 months. We need our parents to help with so many other things (like sitting with our kids when they are sick) that we feel guilty to ask them.

Jill - I hope Meagan feels better soon!

lissawynn - I'm sorry you are feeling sick and swelling. Your due date must seem a long way off right now.

GLT - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LAINE!!:

The assisstant superintendant stopped me today and told me a board member was speaking very highly of me. I have no idea which board member he was talking about but I was flattered. I thought he was just coming to yell at me because I was eating teddy grahams on hallduty.

I think I am going to stick with staying with my mom at the Mariott. Why should I spend a thousand dollars to stay somewhere else. That would be bad spending and I am trying to change my ways. She mentioned not coming with us at all but then I would not only have to pay for a room, but I would have to pay for the rental car as well which she also gets for free. Basically, all I'll have to pay for is food. I can't beat that!

OK, I better get some work done!

Madison is sick today so we kept her home, but we're not really sure what's wrong with her. She woke up with a fever of 102.2 but otherwise seems okay. She's got a runny nose and cough, which is new, but she gets that all the time and never got a fever with it so who knows. Her ped's office seemed disinterested when we called to ask if there's anything we should do. They only have 2 docs on today though so I think they were afraid we might want to come in. We're thinking maybe roseola so I guess we'll wait and see for a rash.

BnB - Thanks for the other birthday sites. That's actually what I was looking for last night, to see if I could get stuff cheaper than BE. I'll definitely check out those sites. The problem with Madison's party is that she's moving into a new class in the next few weeks and there are 28 kids in it. Out of those 28 I can either invite all of them, only the 3yos (about 9-10 kids), or only girls (about 14 kids). Those are her school rules, not mine. No way do I want all those kids, but those are my options. Only 1of my friends kids is Madison's age so while I'll invite them I can't really do the party with just them. I am probably going with just inviting 3yos as I'm guessing the 5yos wouldn't want to go anyway. We don't really have a yard at all, but if we did it would be great for Henry's birthday since it's in the summer.

Lissawynn - I forgot to mention this but I had terrible swelling with Madison. So bad that when I was around 28 weeks and we were on vacation I had to wear Joey's shoes one night. (Don't ever tell anyone that!!) We were going out to dinner and I had to dress up and I would have needed about 6 of my shoes to get one of my feet in them. I was so embarrassed. My dr told me it was normal and to stop wearing my rings and buy costume jewelry (like he needed to tell me that-my rings hadn't fit in weeks!). He also said it's a survival of the fittest kinda thing, that back in the caveman days women who were swollen stopped bleeding faster after the birth and therefore survived. Not that it meant much to me as we don't have to worry about that so much now. Though I didn't swell at all with Henry and actually had to get a shot to stop bleeding cause I lost a lot of blood so maybe there's something to it.

Jill - Sorry that Meagan is sick! I hope John's rash isn't chicken pox. Is he itchy? And we chose DCL for our vacation cause of Flounder's Reef. Bad, I know, that we plan vacations to leave our kids, but like I said, we don't have a babysitter so it's nonstop kids here. We initially looked at Celebrity cruises cause we really love their line, but they don't have a nursery so that tipped the scales toawrds DCL. And since Madison won't be 3 till 2 days after we get home she can do Flounder's too (instead of the kids clubs) which makes me feel better that both kids will be together. We left Madison there twice when she was 3 months old and loved it the 1st night, not so much the 2nd, so that's why I am happy they'll have each other this time.

DisKim - I hope Aidan is okay. Keep us posted on how he's doing. Hopefully the nap will help him feel a bit better. At least he's with your mom so you don't have to feel too badly about not being with him cause I know it's tough for you to be at work when he's sick.

My husband claims Henry is calling me to eat so I guess I should go. I'll be back later I'm sure. I have no excuse cause it's Joey's day off so he can help out a bit. Madison's about to fall asleep on the couch so watching a 5 month old isn't so rough. Oh, I made the appt for his pre-op visit at the urologist today. It's 2/27, the last day of my husband's vacation. I realized how nervous I am that it's getting so close. I know it's a very simple surgery, but part of what bothers me, and I know this is stupid cause we were planning to get it done anyway, is that he'll be circumsized at the same time. Like I said, we were going to do it anyway, but after seeing him one way for 5 months I feel really bad altering his appearance now. Well he's now in full blown cry mode so time for his lunch!
