Robin,

Can you link me to where you saw that? I can't find anything on google.

She has had the bump for months, maybe even a year but it would go away. It's just been really bad lately.

Thank you for all of you thoughts, Mommies.

Abdominal wall hernia: Also called an epigastric or ventral hernia; affects 1 person in 100 nationwide. Technically, this group also includes inguinal hernias and umbilical hernias.

Causes and Risk Factors of Hernia
Umbilical hernias can be present from birth, but most happen later due to pressure on openings or weaknesses in the abdominal cavity or wall. Hernias tend to run in families, and can be caused by such things as coughing, straining during elimination, lifting heavy objects, accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity, and obesity. Chronic lung disease can also cause a hernia.

FF--I'll definitely be keeping you and Kona in my prayers! :grouphug: Hopefully it will be just something to watch and not need surgery. If you need anything, let us know! :grouphug:

And now I'll bore you with more pics of the kids--I don't know if ya'll remember me talking about the terror of taking 3 kids to the photographers a few weeks back--but she finally has the pics uploaded--there isn't a great one of all 3 together (go figure) but I'm thinking of doing a collage of the kids individual portraits. The first page of photos is most my dneice and then the next pages are Emma, Matthew and the group shots!

z--so sorry about your car. Hope AAA fixes it fast! As I was driving to the gym this morning (after almost being hit by a deer), I noticed a not so normal humming noise in the van. Just great, right before our drive to Ohio for xmas--we also are out of warranty--luckily my DBIL works on cars so I can have him look at it soon!

Robin,

Thank you for posting that. Everything I looked at said it was caused by a previous surgical scar but Kona's never had surgery.

I'm trying not to worry. Dh goes on call on Friday so I called him and told him to find someone to take his on all. Hopefully, he'll call me back at lunch and tell me that he did.

Everything I've read seems to say that surgery is the only way to repair these things but we'll see.

Holly - Hugs to you and little Kona, I am sure that it's nothing to worry about, it's better to get checked out though. :grouphug:

I am off to the Dr. in the morning too, I have suck itchy legs and feet, I don't know what to do sometimes! It's really weird and nothing seems to stop it, having read up a bit online it could be some liver thing - hope fully not though. If it is then they usually deliver early! I expect I will get a blood test to find out for sure.

Robin - How's your DH's stomach today?

FF - thoughts & prayers your way. When I was pg with DS I got an ubmilical hernia but didn't realize it until well after he was born. I ended up getting surgery when he was just a few months old and it didn't take too long to recover. I pray and hope Kona is feeling well, that you find a good dr to alleviate your fears and concerns and that you can get Kona on the mend quickly. :grouphug:

ETA - Gems, I hope your dr. appt. goes well and it's nothing serious :wizard:

I just wanted to thank all of you for the prayers and good wishes. :grouphug:

You gals are a great bunch. If DH sees that I used the word gals he'll officially think I have turned into my Mother. :teeth: She says that all the time.

GEM,

Oh my. I hope it's nothing serious. :grouphug: Please let us know.

I have been meaning to ask. Was it your neice that didn't feel well a few months ago? How is she doing?

Oh Holly! Poor girl. You guys will be in my thoughts. If there's anything you need let us know. Keep us posted when you can.

Gems - I hope everything's ok with you too!

I finally have a minute to update. I've been busy at work, but still bored out of my mind. It's one of those days where I have to make the same phone call over and over and I'll be doing it in my sleep tonight.

DH brought Lucas by while they were out and about this morning. I have a box of old telephones in my office and Lucas had so much fun talking on them. He didn't want to leave, either. :guilty:

Tonight we're going to see Santa at the mall but I don't have much hope of getting a good picture.

nucpharm - Great pictures! Your kids are so photogenic (as is your niece).

Gems - I hope it's nothing serious.

Just got an email from the big boss so I guess it's back to work for me. Talk soon!

Oh my goodness! I'm practically in tears catching up on this thread today.

FF - You and Kona are in my prayers. I hope that everything is okay :grouphug: :grouphug: .

Gems - I hope you are okay too. You have me worried!

I should be grading essays now but I feel like I've been hit by a truck so I decided to relax and catch up. I'm going to go back a few pages now.

FF- :grouphug: To you and Kona! I hope everything is alright.

Gems - I feel your pain. I had horrible itching with Bailey. I used Aveeno Soothing Relief Moisture Cream by the bucket load.

Good afternoon all! I'm afraid this is going to be another drive-by posting from me. DH stayed home from work sick. Robert stayed home from school sick, and has thrown up 5 times. A cat barfed twice on my kitchen and once in the bathroom, because I didn't have enough barf to clean up. Celeste barfed right as I was picking her up from preschool. I'm just waiting for the call from the middle school on Jocelyn! Oh, and did I mention that my cat had a big lump on his head? Well, it turned out to be an abscess. I know this because it popped...leaving a mess of bloody pus behind! Did I also mention that he likes to sleep on the changing table? Oh well, it was a laundry day anyway.

Okay, I've grossed you all out enough for today. I'll post again soon when everyone is on the upswing. Gosh, I hope it's soon. One preschool mom said the school sent home 45 kids last week!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, it seems I've caught DP's cold.

I hope everyone is doing okay, and those that are ill are doing better!

Oh my goodness, seems like we have a thread full of sickies! :guilty:

BNB- hope your children & DH get well soon! And that you don't get it. And GROSS about the kitty's bursting abcess. Yuk!

Icebrat- hope you get well soon too~ :wizard:

Z- how is your car? Hopefully it's nothing too serious.

Gems- keep us posted on what is going on with the itching.

GLT- I finally got a package in the mail to you today; I sent it parcel, so hopefully it will get there by next Monday or so.

My not so Secret Santa Pal- yours went out parcel today too. Since you're doesn't have quite as far to go, I'm hoping you will get it by Saturday. ;)

Nuc- cute pics of the kiddoes! I love that one of Emma, first page, bottom row, middle. Darling!

Kim- Hi! Hope you can get those essays graded without wanting to go bonkers!

I need to get back to cleaning. It seems I let things slide this weekend. I also need to study up on how to do simple web pages, as that's part of this WPASADI thing. I'm such a dork at that sort of stuff. I think the official game starts in 2 days, so hold the good thought that our team does well! :thumbsup2

Mommies,

I just ordered a TMX Elmo from Target.com

I'd be more than happy to ship it out to one of the Mommies here that needs one if I end up getting it (I'm not holding my breath.) I can't remember who posted about wanting one.

I wont' charge any more than what I paid for it.

Let me know if you want it and I'll send it out when I get it. Otherwise, I'll just return it to Target.

:thumbsup2

buzzandbelle'smom,

I hope everyone feels better soon!

I only have a minute. As soon as DH gets home from his mystery shopping trip we're heading out to the mall.

ff - I sent you a PM.

alice28 - Good luck with the web stuff.

zalansky - Hope your car is fixed by now.

I hope all the sickies are feeling better.

Gotta run - I just heard DH's car. I'll scan in the Santa pic later if we buy it.

I think we, as a group, should get the award for the crappiest Monday ever.

FF- I'll be thinking of Kona and your family. I hope it's nothing too serious.

BnB - Sorry about all the vomit and sickness. I hope everyone at your home is well soon.

Gems - Let us know how your appointment went.

nucpharm - When I opened the link to your pics, Jimmy saw Emma's pic and got all excited and started to point at the screen.

Here's my crappy Monday story...
I don't know if I mentioned that another teacher and I are the advisors for our school's 8th grade academic competition team. We gave all of the 8th graders the test last Tuesday to see who earned the top 10 scores. This year we considered scores along with faculty recommondations. We chose our six members for the team and told the students on Friday.
Well, today I got a really nasty email from a parent suggesting that her son was not chosen for the team b/c I have a grudge against him and two other students who didn't make the team. They were in our enrichment program the last few years and chose to drop out this year. He (her son) is smart, but he is also extremely lazy. He didn't even earn a score that qualified him for the team. I sent a response indicating that his score didn't qualify him for the team and that I would be happy to share his test score with her. I went to my principal and told her what was going on. My principal also got the e and we thought that would be the end of it. I also called one of the parents this woman mentioned, and spoke to her regarding her son's test score (he didn't qualify for the team, either). I got a second, extremely nasty reply from the original mom this afternoon. She basically all but accused me of doing something to her son's test so he couldn't make the team. She also said she was tired of me harrassing her son and these two other boys. I had treated them terribly, etc, etc. Let me say that I have no contact with her son or the other boy whose parents I called today. I don't have them in class, didn't give them their tests, or deviate from the same test all the other kids took. I was hot earlier, and this last message got me more worked up.
I, again, went to my principal with these latest accusations. She emailed the mom and told her she was to have no further contact with me. She also told the mom she was welcome to come to the school and look at the test and her son's answer sheet. It was not a nice email.

The drama continued when I got home from school. The mason and his helper were here working on the chimney. I told them I was going to let the dog out and the helper told me the dog had bitten him. Duke is in our living room and I put the gate up everyday so he isn't out when the workers are here. This kid thought he'd pet the dog, and Duke bit his hand. He broke the skin open, but that's it. Who reaches over a fence and pets a strange 100+ pound German Shepherd? The kid was fine and admitted that he shouldn't have tried to pet the dog. Do ya think?

Finally, my older sister calls me to tell me she has shingles and has to stay away from me for at least 10 days. Apparently pregnant women and infants under a year shouldn't be around folks with shingles. I guess we're not going Christmas shopping together this weekend.

I am exhausted. I really take offense when someone calls into question my professionalism and integrity. I am the first person to admit that I am not always a nice person, but I am honest and don't lie to people. I also have no problem letting you know whether or not I like you. I don't go out of my way to be nasty to people, but life is way too short to spend time with people you don't like.

Jimmy has refused to sleep and is now screaming from his crib. He took a 20 minute nap today. I'm thinking tonight is going to be as much fun as today was.

nucpharm - I wanted to share a pic with you. This is me when I was maybe 3 or 4. I have the same haircut as Emma. That's my grandpap in the middle, and my older sister (the one with shingles) on the right. I don't think the thought of a little sister had entered anyone's minds at the time.

Also, I don't know if the rest of you have seen them, but Crocs came out with a Disney version for the kids. They have mouse heads cut out in the front instead of the holes. I know Annabel is going to have to have a pair of those for the summer.

DH won't be home for at least another 45 minutes and Jimmy is still carrying on in his crib. Another fun night at my house!
