I'm so happy that LOTR won. Very well-deserved. And I also thought all of the hobbits crying was so sweet. I wonder where everyone else was? I didn't see Orlando or Viggo.

Actually I know most of the reason why Orlando didn't show was because he was in Morroco filming Kingdom of Heaven (either that or he was just leaving Spain). Not sure about Viggo though... would have been cool to see them all together again!!!

Y'all make me wish I had been able to stay up for the end of the Oscars... I was just too tired. Sucks when you are sick

I was given the trilogy when I was 8 years old. My grandad read it to me twice before he died ... and since then I have read it about 100 times.
I liked the movies... great casting, superb effects and costumes were wonderful. Not to mention the New Zealand landscape... breathtaking!
But I must admit... i do prefer the books still .. as the movie missed quite a few characters and scenes which I enjoyed!
If i could be a choice of characters... my heart lies with the elves. They are mystical and awe-inspiring!!!

Unfortunately I am not so sick that I miss out on work or anything, just wind up zonking out early at night Fortunately though, a friend said she'd send me a copy of the show since they recorded it! I can't wait to see the reactions to everything!!!

Not sure when the Premeire for Hidalgo is... but I would imagine it has to be around now since the movie is being released on the 5th. I thought I heard that it was on the 1st but not sure...

I've read the books as well, and both have their place. Now don't get me wrong, I do love the books, but there are points where Tolkien is a bit too wordy. There are some scenes I miss in the movies from the books though, and some characters as well, but over all I think Peter did a good job. There are some changes I really really wish he hadn't made though... but his vision of the characters and the lands really matched what I had in mind for a lot and that was neat to see that on film

I'm glad this thread is still around! I've finally got to see
The Return of the King! and now I'm ready to see it again!

I'm so glad they swept the Oscars! Finally something worthwhile wins...I too would have loved to have seen the Elf and Aragorn...(yummy!)

Loved the books too, but felt if they took out most of the detailed description of things they would have been about 100 pages long!
Don't get me wrong I loved them...but very descriptive!
And thanks for the down loads..I've got to try those out!

Truly unbelievable that people are upset that ROTK won that many... I never thought I'd like the movies, but I was pleasantly surprised and swore this was deserving of all the wins!!!

Well I just have to say that Orlando is my hero. ROTK was great. My best friend and I brought a blanket and snacks from home and got all cozy for the three hours. We had fun, all three movies were brilliant, I have a lot of respect for the whole cast and especially Peter Jackson. I'm sad its over!

in the lotr books, i skipped over all of the songs and things about Gilgilead or whatever! there was like an 8 page long song at one point. and the frodo, sam and gollum parts can get so zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
