*** The Official July 2014 thread, join us won't you? ***

Hello friends! :wave2:

We are making our VERY FIRST trip July 15-21. DH and I never got to go as kids so this is the first trip for us as well as our 9 yo (10 in August) twin girls. I keep joking that it feels like I'm planning a shuttle launch!

We are doing a drive/fly hybrid. Saved 50% ($1000!!) in airfare to drive to Dallas and fly out from there. We are staying at POR.

Here's our plan so far...
Tues - Arrive 11 a.m.
6:40 T Rex
DTD, DisneyQuest (my kids are video game fanatics. They are going to flip!)

Wed - AK
9:40 Tusker House bfast

Thur - Typhoon Lagoon
6:55 - 'Ohana

Fri - MK
6:40 - Cinderella's Royal Table

Sat - Epcot
1:15 Coral Reef
7:30 Biergarten

Sun - HS
11:15 Sci Fi Dine In
4:55 Mama Melrose (Fantasmic Package)

Mon - flight leaves Orlando at 2:00 pm

I'm coming to the sad realization that 1 day in MK just isn't enough :( Anyone going to do a half day at one of the other parks and go to MK in the evening? Which park?

AK is a half day park for us.
Depending on how much you do at HS, we've never spent all day/ night there.

We will be at Ohana the same night! Our ADR time is 20 minutes before yours :thumbsup2 I agree that one day at MK isn't really enough. It depends on your traveling group and their preferences. I can deal with a 1/2 day at AK, but it's my mom's favorite park, so we're doing 2 half days this time. I can also definitely do with a 1/2 day at DHS because I'm not a thrill rider and the dining options leave a LOT to be desired, so I mainly like the shopping there! However, my husband and sister LOVE thrill rides, so again, two half days this time :) This is why we're staying a full week this year :rotfl2: We'll be there similar dates, so let me know if you want me to share our plans.

We are too (and we're all adults, ha!) However, I think it's mainly because we're staying at BLT and it'll be so convenient! :goodvibes (and because it's my FAVORITE :cloud9:)

Maybe go in the evening of your AK day or if you add on a day or two of park tickets (fairly cheap once you get so many days), you could do MK in the evening of your TL day or change DTD to the afternoon/evening of AK or TL day and go to MK on your arrival day...?

:welcome: to our group. So happy to have you with us. How exciting, a first trip! One good thing is that you know you have to plan this trip. I know so many who think that they can just go to Disney and wing it. Don't know what they are thinking.:scared1:
Ok, I will add you to our front page. I will also add your touring plans and dining plans to posts #577 and #579. You can check out who else will be in the parks the same days as you or dining at the same places as you, and maybe do a meet! My family and I will be at the same resort as you. We are there from 7/18-7/27. If you have questions just ask, this group is great about trying to help others out!

So this weekend my DH and I have no plans. No BBQ's or visits or anything else (which is actually nice). We decided to take our planning to the next level and map out our drive down. He doesn't like to drive more than 3 hours at a shot and I can go for up to about 5ish. So, knowing what time we will leave here and how long we can go without food, we looked at where we would stop for dinner and looked at the exits and what fast food locations are there. We mapped it out and looks like we will stop at Firehouse Subs (that would be new for us) then dinner at Zaxby's. We haven't eaten there in a VERY long time. On our second day we will most likely eat at Krystals for lunch and get something that is easily transportable. Our intention is to do cheap and quick so we can save our time and money for when we are in Disney. We should arrive at Port Orleans- Riverside between 3 and 4pm. Our first ADR is for 6:55pm at Ohana that night we arrive. I am beside myself excited and can't wait!!!

In other news, I was talking to one of my DD's teachers at a school event and found out that she LOVES all things Disney, which I never knew. She said to me "We MUST talk!!!" Um, yes we must!!!
:lmao:

WE LOVE Firehouse Subs!!! It's one of our faborite places to eat here. I've never heard of Zaxby's though....

Hello! I hope everyone here is gearing up in anticipation of their upcoming vacation to Disney! Would you please add myself and my family to the list of July vacationers. We will be doing the first split stay ever, checking in on June 25th at POP and then moving to the BWI from June 28th until July 9th. I am so excited!!

Welcome!!

Thanks! I would have driven. But was so super nervous. Haven't driven in 4 years and I was was just scared. I am so bad at staying awake at night so I wasn't sure what I was going to have to do to stay awake, but feeling so happy not to have to worry about it anymore.

I'm not looking forward to the drive either, unfortunately it's just not in the budget for us to fly :( I'm glad that y'all get to though, I know it's a huge relief!

Wow, I've been off the boards for a few days and I missed a lot! Hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day. :thumbsup2 I'm trying to find things to do to keep me occupied until it's time to pack. :confused3 I still have school to keep me busy during the day as we don't get out until June 19th, but other than that I have nothing to keep my mind from going into Disney overload! :hyper::hyper: I can't even talk about going at home because it's a surprise trip for my stepson. What's a girl to do?

I regret telling all of the kids so early on about Disney. I wish I had waited and told them at Christmas or something.... Oh well, maybe next time lol

14 more days of school for the year! Then summer can officially begin. I loved my students so much this year....great kids. But I love summer too.

Hello friends! :wave2:

I'm coming to the sad realization that 1 day in MK just isn't enough :( Anyone going to do a half day at one of the other parks and go to MK in the evening? Which park?

I have the same feeling.... We're planning on park hopping on our Hollywood Studios day. There's not a whole lot there that we really want to do so we're going to do Hollywood in the morning, and then go to Epcot for dinner, then head to MK for the evening.

What a warm welcome! Those of you who offered plans, I may take you up on it. I'm working on my own for now...

Thanks for the suggestions on park hopping. I didn't really want to add another day of tickets, but I'm considering it now.

It's a very minimal cost to add a day to your tickets and I think it'll give you some room to not feel so pressured to find a way to make it work. To me, that peace of mind is SO worth it :)

How many of you are park hopping? Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

We haven't park hopped yet, but DH and I talk about park hopping eventually, just so we could eat at different countries at Epcot for a lot of our dinners, since it's a short walk from BWV where we always stay. We're not quite there yet, but maybe on the next trip.

:cool1: Just made our reservations! We're doing July 22-28 at All-Star Music!!

:welcome: to our ever growing group! So happy to have you with us. I will add you to our front page. Any questions or issues, just ask us. We will do our best to help out in any way we can.

We have always park hopped. For us, I can't imagine not having that flexibility. The cost has grown over the years, but spread out over 7-8 days its not too bad for the flexibility it gives us. There are only two of us, though. I can imagine how it would be too pricey for a larger family!

I was just trying to change around some of our ADR times and I saw a Crystal Palace breakfast open for July 23 at 8:40am. Still a little late to make "rope drop," but it would get you into the park early :thumbsup2 I was searching for 4 people. Just wanted to share!

Thanks so much for the quick information. Can't wait until 60 days to make fastpass . I was hoping this was what happened.

Yes! I had this same concern too :) What happens is, it will only show you 30 days out UNTIL your 60 day mark hits, and then it will show all the dates through to your trip :thumbsup2 If you want to "practice" you can play around with some of the dates that are showing up and then just delete them.

I have done all that stuff. Now I am just waiting to pack. How are you guys passing the time? Now that the weather is a lot nicer outside we are keeping busy doing yard work, Kids running around with their friends. I think it will pick up once school is out.

I wish we would get good weather and actually keep it! So much rain and cold temps here in Maine. Hasn't been a good spring to get out and do everything we usually do before school gets out! Plus, I need time to tan before my trip so I don't completely burn in Florida! Come on, sun!
