*** The Official July 2014 thread, join us won't you? ***

:cool1: Just made our reservations! We're doing July 22-28 at All-Star Music!!

Welcome!

I added the dinner to Biergarten last night. I was surprised to be able to get a good time, but I guess since it is a buffet it was easier. Has anyone eaten there? It doesn't sound like there were many kid friendly options.

I'm getting so excited!! This is the last week of school for the girls and DH (he's a teacher). I'm making a packing list and going to order the girls some Keen sandals. Maybe I'll get a pair too.

Do you guys take enough clothes for the whole trip or do a load of laundry while you are there? I'm planning on doing a load. Not thrilled about it, but don't want too much luggage. :confused3

Both! Ha! We take enough for a week, but you will end up wearing different outfits in the AM and PM because you will be drenched in sweat, so we normally end up doing a load (at least for underthings ;) )

How many of you are park hopping?

We have not park hopped since our children were born. Our DS is on the Autistic spectrum and was never able to get his mind around going from one park to another. He thought that if we were in one park that is the one we should be in all day. (We had a similar incident when on our first cruise. He said we were on a boat and should stay on a boat not go on land. He was much younger then.) But we are a stay all day in the park kind of family. We find air conditioned places to duck in and out of during the hottest times. The kids like it that way. We may do things differently on out next trip after this July one. We shall see!

We have had Dinner there on our last trip. It was good. I was hesitant because I am part German and I know some of the crazy food they can make. But Disney does some interesting takes on those recipes while making them still people friendly. As for the clothes, we usually take all we need and don't do wash. I only ever did wash on vacation when we stayed with my parents at their house. But since we have stayed on property, no laundry have I done!!! At least not until we get home! :lmao:

We have always park hopped. I can't imagine not having that flexibility. We like to eat dinner in Epcot but don't want that many Epcot evenings. I think it will be even more important to hop now that my kids are older. On our last two trips we have gone to all four parks on our last day just hitting up a few favorites at each park or to shop or get food.

Our upcoming trip to Disney is next week. Our trip was a trip from my mom for Christma. As soon as the trip was booked, I came home and booked our ADRs for the Deluxe. We have a breakfast scheduled for the morning and and dinner in the afternoon. Since we're doing the DDP, my mom didn't want to eat counter services more than one meal a day; otherwise 'we wouldn't be getting our money out of the plan', according to my mother. Some of the places we have eaten at before, but others are new to us.

Our cast of characters include:
myself (45) ~ Angi
my mom (67) ~ Nano as she called around her
my son (5) ~ Onesimus

This will be our 9th trip to Disney. We have always seen something in one trip that we didn't see in the previous one, so going to Disney is always exciting, much to the chagrin of a lot of people ("You're going to Disney AGAIN?")

Anyway, can't wait to be there next week! :cool1:

How many park hop?

We have not park hopped in the past. Because I liked being in one park and catching that parks night time show. Weird I know. My DH doesn't get it either, but, I like it that way.

THIS trip however, with the tickets we got, Park hopper was included. And I am thinking with the FP+ system. I may like hopping better than before.

We love it! We do a morning in one place and an evening in another. It makes our trip feel so much fuller because you don't feel like 'oh man, our MK day is over.' You can just keep bouncing around and seeing it all multiple times. Plus, like a PP said. July is too hot to spend the whole day in the park (and I'm from SC and I'm used to hot!)

We typically park hop because we like to add some variety to our day! We also have to take breaks so we feel like we get two days in one by hitting two parks!

We have always park hopped also. Our previous trips were in the winter when the parks closed earlier so we would usually hop to the park which had evening EMH. This year since we only have 4 park days we will be hopping to the MK for the evenings on the days we do AK and HS. I am looking forward to the 12:00am closing times on this trip.

Hey there! Just checking in - - Friday will be our 45 day mark :cool1:

I have to add that we had a blast at Cedar Point this weekend! It's crazy that we live 40 minutes away and it's been so long since I've been there. We stayed Saturday night at Castaway Bay and the kids loved the water park. Then Sunday was at Cedar Point - and DH again surprised us by having my parents and his parents show up to spend the day with us! IT was perfect - DD and I walked out of the restroom and there they were standing there!

The kids loved it (they are 4 and 6 so no thrill rides but loved the kid areas and the arcade of all places). DH and I did get on one coaster and my mom and I went on the windseeker (my mom talked me into it and she did better on it then I did - I've never been real good with heights so that was a major feat for me!)

One thing that cracked me up - DS has never been shy around characters at Disney or afraid of them but here, Snoopy walked out and while DD loved it - DS freaked out and wanted to go home to get away from him!!

Now they keep asking when we are going to stay in a hotel again and we said next time will be Disney!!

For the first time in over 5 years, we did not have a trip booked this year...... Couldn't stand it and booked 10 days at CBR a week ago, July 10-19.

This is our first stay at CBR and wondering if we should rent a car. Has anyone used the in resort bus service? How is it?

:welcome: to our group. Happy to have you along. I really wish I could go every year, but every other is what we basically do now. I have never stayed at CBR so I can't help you there. I will get you added to the front page.

I am starting to rethink our Epcot day. Originally I planned to do TT first, then Soarin with a FP, and then the Seas with Nemo and the exhibits. We have a lunch ADR at Biergarten for 12:30 so on the way we would ride the boat ride at Mexico, Maelstrom, and hopefully see Mulan. Then we were going to continue around World Showcase and get back to Future World around 4:30/5:00 and finish what we did not do earlier.

Now I am thinking that after lunch we should leave World Showcase and go back to Future World. That would put us with several indoor attractions during the hottest part of the day. After we finish Future World we could go back to World Showcase starting on the opposite side with Canada and work our way around towards Germany.

The second plan we would be walking farther since we would have to go through part of World Showcase twice, but later in the day it might be cooler. For those of you who have done Disney in the summer before which choice would you suggest? Does it even cool off much before the sun goes down? It would be easier to change our plans at Epcot if it wasn't for needed to make FP+ reservations ahead of time. Thanks for your help.

EPCOT does always pose that problem - we tend to do Future World at RD - hit all the major things from 9 - 11amish (or 8 if there is EMH) - then we will walk half way through World Showcase - and have lunch somewhere on that path - we will then take the boat back across the lake to save a little leg-work (I find that World Showcase gets so hot in the middle of the day) - we then tend to return to our resort for 3 hours or so to get out of the sun/take a break - and then around 4pm head back - we will take the boat to the spot where we left off earlier in the day and then walk back through World Showcase. If there were things we missed in Future World, we tend to plan to hit them on our second day that we visit Epcot. Most trips we do 2 days at Epcot for that reason.

I'm not sure if that helps you - but you can use the boats to get back and forth to the back of World Showcase if you want to revisit later in the day - instead of taking a resort break you could easily substitute it with your idea of visiting things in Future World that you missed - Figment, the Living Seas, The Land... all have great things to do inside and out of the heat! :)
