*** The Official July 2014 thread, join us won't you? ***

We just customized ours... we have a set all ready in our bags for our trip in 6 days... we chose to use initials and the start date of the trip - since I was pretty sure we'd get new ones each time... for example: ABC 12514 (we check in on Jan 25th) - so for the summer ones we did ABC 71514 - we also chose different colors - figured that we'd accessorize with them! :-)

That's a GREAT idea to remember which bands are from which trips!!

I booked California Grill for dinner on the 17, Chef Mickeys for breakfast on the 20, and Crystal Palace for breakfast on the 23 :)

2 are the same restaurant, same day, but different meals. We want Chef Mickeys for dinner on the 20th and Crystal Palace for dinner on the 23rd. Too funny. I'm hoping I can get everything I want.

That is so funny that the dates are the same! Probably because we are smart DISers and we know which parks are best on which days! We picked breakfasts for most of ours because we end up being so hot and tired by dinner time that no one wants a bigger sit down meal!

We've never had a Thursday check in date before so making ADRs was interesting. Bookings for our first couple days were tougher because people staying Sat-Sat were able to book ahead of us, but ressies for later in our week were easier because people staying the next week weren't able to book yet.

All the negative FP+ talk is making me very nervous about our JUly trip.:scared:

We are going to experience It in 5 days. I will let this board know how it goes for us. Scheduling them was pretty easy - although there were some interesting issues we had with times and things we had planned on mde. For example, I noted that we wanted to visit a princess starting at 11 and therefore I couldn't get a FP+ to show up until I deleted that from my plans. So I'm not adding anything but ADRs to our July plans on mde until after we booked FP+ in May.

Thanks - Excited to here how it goes. Don't know if I have understood it correctly, only 3 fast passes a day. We are use to getting 10 to 12 passes everyday and using them all. Are we only limited to the 3 or are there fast pass machine still operating throughout the park? OK - now I am working myself up for a break down..... Is it only MK for right now?

It is 3 a day at one park regardless of PH. And you have to do 3 or do 0. We only wanted to do 2 for one day but had to book a 3rd. I believe All parks will be strictly FP+ by the end of January. No more KTTW or legacy FP machines by February. At least that's what I have come to understand from what I've read. If I'm wrong, please correct me! I'm glad to try it out with crowd levels that are 3's next week... In July I'm not sure how we will manage! It will be EMH and RD or bust!

I can only share my experience from October, but it wasn't bad. Our bands worked correctly every time and the only thing that didn't was our Fast Pass + for Be our Guest which they could find in the system but not what we preordered. They made a note of the issue in their system and sent us through the line to reorder. That only took about 5 minutes. We didn't use park hoppers because we didn't need them in a October with low crowds. We did rope drop because that is how we tour. Not sure about July with park hoppers, but from what I have read, the advice is to hit rope drop, ride as many rides as you can early, and if you are going to park hop, use your Fast Pass + for the second park. Not sure our plans yet.

The three fast passes was a negative. We are used to pulling 5-8 per day depending on the park we visited. We still had the opportunity to pull regular fast passes so we did for some rides, which made it way different then when we go in a July. I expect that waits are going to be much different.

I am not sure I like the whole tiering aspect. At DHS, we would only use TSM, ToT, and RnR and as of now two out of the three are in the same tier and you can't pull both.

Same thing for Soarin and Test Track which are really the only attractions we use Fast Pass for at Epcot. This will definitely be interesting.

We did like that everything was on the bands (meals, room key, park tickets). It was very easy. The kids didn't mind wearing it most of the time. Although around the hotel, I just took my daughters off because she was getting sick of it and really didn't need it at the resort.

You are right. All Fast Pass Legacy machines are supposed to be gone by the end of January.

That is good to know because I'm also one who likes to go into MDX and put in little notes about what times we'd like to do different things. I also read that any dining reservations you made count as a 'reservation' and it won't let you schedule FP+ within a certain time frame of those either. Did you find that to be the case?

Our experience in October was that you could schedule the Fast Pass but it will give you a warning saying that you have a dining reservation at that time and it may interfere. We had fast passes and ADRs that overlapped and we were fine. If you miss a fast pass, you can also schedule a replacement. Most of the good things are usually gone though.

Good to know! Thanks! I was mainly concerned about our first night. We'll be arriving around 3:00 in the afternoon and have an ADR at California Grill at 9:00, so I wanted to be sure it would let us do our 3 FP+ rides between 4-8 ish and wouldn't say it was too close to our ADR. How much time does it make you leave in between your choices?

Add us to the list. Staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter July 20-27. First time for my two DD. So excited! Booking ADRs tomorrow.

Also, thinking of booking dinner at Chef Mickeys for the night of our arrival. I thought I read about an observation deck in the Contemporary for Wishes. Is that true? Will we have access to it if we eat there that night? TIA.

It did let us book FP's that were in the window of the ADR like PP stated... just with a warning that there was a time overlap. They are pretty much offered back-to-back times to each other without much time in between... For example, at AK on Saturday I have one from 1 -2 , 2-3 and then 3-4. Other's have some time in between but not a ton - unless you want a ton of time... you can pick from a list of times available...

Thank you!!! That is so helpful!! I was hoping we wouldn't have to leave an hour and a half in between each one :)

Your welcome! I'm very excited to try it all out... and we just figure we will go with the flow on this trip... hopefully figure a few things out so that when we go in July with peak crowds we will have a better idea as to how to attack it all! Plus we have a BOG lunch FP which is a separate reservation from our 3 FP+'s that day... hopefully they will keep that around for July!

Does anyone know if you can book BBB online or over the phone only?

Hi! I just booked it for my youngest on Friday at our 180 day mark and I had to do it by phone. I'm pretty sure when I booked it 2 years ago it was by phone as well. Happy planning! :-)
