*** The Official July 2014 thread, join us won't you? ***

Hi everyone!! So sorry I've been MIA for so long. I've been so busy at work the last couple of months it's been crazy. Right now, the show I run is full swing into rehearsals and we are just 20 days from opening night! We're also doing something new this year...the winner of our competition is going to compete against the winners of the same competition from two other brooklyn high schools, at the beginning of March. All proceeds are going to the American Cancer Society! For those who don't know me, I teach Italian at a Brooklyn, New York high school but I also run a show there called SING!, which is a competition between two teams (in some schools, three teams) separated by grade (we have seniors team up with freshmen vs. juniors teamed up with sophomores). The students write, direct and perform their own musicals with original scripts. They use existing songs but they write their own lyrics and they have a live band play the songs. They build and design their own sets and they design and make their own costumes. It's an amazing experience for our students. So I've been very busy with that, as well as teaching in general and also family of course. On December 31st my sister gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy! So, very busy but all good things!

Tuesday our 180-day ADR window opens up. I'm so excited to book everything!

I hope everyone is doing well! :)

Glad to see you around again. Busy busy busy but you sound like you are having fun with the production.

You'll have to let us know what you end up booking. It's fun to read everyone's plans. We have to wait until the 29th, but that's ok. I enjoying the planning.

Hello! Just discovered this thread...we are traveling to the a Wilderness Lodge July 28-August 2! Thank you for adding us! Excited to book our ADRs on the 29th-so hard to wait. We have been to Disney in April during spring break and in November during Thanksgiving week...how do crowds and weather compare?

~~ Helloooo!!! Congratulations on your new nephew! :) you have been busy. Sounds like an amazing activity you have going on over there, our town really lacks on that dept. I can hardly believe January is almost over, and spring is right around the corner. Glad the craziness of the holidays are done.
I posted here a few days ago that my plans are no longer going to work out :( but, I'm still going to check in from time to time. With the boys going to high school next year and the baby going into middle, I have a feeling the expenses will go up as well. BUT..... I am substituting the WDW trip with a Universal Trip around the same time. Staying on site but saving about $1000. Hopefully, we will LOVE it and maybe head to disney in 2015.
Enjoy making those magical plans!!! I'm so jealous... You don't need to make so many plans for universal and I miss that!

We check in the same day as you but at AKL. The crowds are probably similar to those times, maybe actually a little less. Most days are about an 8. Welcome to the group.

Man! I'm glad I got up early to do our ADRs! I really hesitated since we were only making 3 and we weren't interested in BOG dinner or the dessert party (which seem to be the two hardest things to get.) We got everything we wanted for the exact times we wanted. I just checked at around 10:00 and everything for all three places we booked was completely sold out for the times of day we booked and two of them were booked at that time of day for the whole week of our trip! Crazy! I have to say thanks to the DIS. If it weren't for these boards our trips wouldn't be as amazing as they always are :goodvibes My family loves that I always know what to do and when to do it so we can get things reserved/get discounts/etc... :thumbsup2

Some of our vacation days overlap the end of your trip. I am curious to know what your 3 ADR's were to see if they are anything we will be trying to book on Tuesday. Thank you.

Michele

Hello to Midori as well!

I had a nephew, not a niece...I already have two nieces that I enjoy spoiling! ;)
I am looking forward to a boy I could spoil as well! My sons are very excited to have a new boy in the family.

Thanks for your kind words about my show. The students have been doing a beautiful job thus far. Every time I go into a rehearsal room, it seems as though they are ahead of where they need to be at this stage of the game. Keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way. We already lost 2 hours of rehearsal time due to a snow day a couple of weeks ago. Hoping we don't lose any more!

Op's sorry - guess I read your post but did not pay attention to the details.:worship:

:welcome: to the July thread.. IMO - (Weather - :beach: Average 90's and 70% Humidity) I can not give you a comparison on the crowd levels, but it is very busy :crowded: (Peak Season) DD and I love going in July. We have not visited to Disney during the end of July.. Angalee would have more knowledge of the crowd levels during this time frame.

I have been wanting to experience California Grill.. Last year it was close for remodel during our visit. Please let us know about your experience.

We got married at Disney's Wedding Pavilion in 2007 and our reception was at California Grill. We will be there this year around our anniversary, and we're staying at BLT, so we thought it would be cool to eat there for real :) Its going to be strange to see it looking so different!

has anyone customized their MB?

and I received the planning DVD in the mail yesterday and it is the same as 2013 BUMMED. I could have cried. We LOVE THESE. I was hoping for an updated version.

I received the same one. I thought they'd have the Disney side one by now.

We picked our MB colors, but I'm holding out hope they might have some new offerings before our customization deadline in June. Have you seen this thread? So fun!!!

Anyone done dinner at Akershus?? How is it?

We did about three years ago. I don't remember much, but I do remember that we were not impressed with the food selection, especially for the kids. Breakfast was much better and we continue to go back.

I haven't yet. Was wondering if we get new bands if we just got bands in a October when we went. Can we just use those or do we get a whole new set this time?

From what I've read you'll get a new set of MBs. Even people who are doing split stays during one trip are getting a new set for each portion of their trip! Crazy waste of money if you ask me!

Yeah does seem like a big waste of money. Hmmm....now what do I do with the MB in our closet? Lol.
