**The Official January 2012 WDW Thread**

3 more days!!! I've done most everything I can do, so it's pretty much a waiting game at this point! Hopefully the next few days go by quickly!!!

And on a not happy note, my DS was up last night throwing up  We grabbed take out for dinner and within an hour of eating it, he started saying his tummy hurt. He hasn't complained of any other symptoms, hasn't had a runny nose or cough and he doesn't have a fever so I'm really hoping his food just upset his tummy rather than being sick.

12 more sleeps and we go :)...

This past weekend we had to drive 4 hours to SC to visit family we didnt see for Christmas so it was a little practice run for driving to Disney.

I have been putting clothes aside that I know DS will bring to Disney but for me that is hard. I wear jeans and polos to work, which is pretty much what I will be bringing to Disney. I have some sweatshirt (zipups) put aside and some of our snacks and toiletries put aside and I started to go thru all the tink gifts I bought DS.

Hoping this week I can finish unpacking from Christmas trip to my parents and to this past weekends trip and I want to finish organizing tink gifts and to wrap them.

I have a running list of some of the things we still need to get. And I have a return to make at Walmart and at Target so hopefully when I do that I can pick up our stuff.

Sat I have to use up to Groupons that expire (movies and a jumping place) and trying to decide if DS needs a haircut. Normally I would let it go for a few more weeks but wondering how he would look at the end of the week. Other option is getting it cut at Disney at MK but the problem is that MK is on day 4 of our trip so I dont know what to do?????

I think DS will be all packed by Sunday night and even DH (he is a painter so will be in work clothes during the week) and they will just have a few things to throw in.

I will pack probably about half my stuff and will also have snack bag packed and tolieties...

Oh and DH and I both need sneakers and we need to break them in :(...and I wanted to start walking this week since I am really out of shape...and I think I am getting sick...so plenty of rest and to bed early....

I am so excited.

Okay, this weather thing is getting to be a sickness. :rotfl: Not only am I compulsively checking the weather for Orlando, I'm also watching our extended forecast and getting nervous about the fact that there's snow in the forecast for the 3 days prior to our flight out. And really I know better - this is Michigan. There's a good chance that even tomorrow's forecast will be completely wrong and at 15 days out "average temps with snow" is probably just a safe-bet projection for late January!
:rotfl2: On watching the local weather for snow. We've had NOTHING this year so far (outside of a freak pre Halloween storm) and our trip last Jan was delayed both going AND coming home by blizzards (as well as our Feb trip the year before that!). We're joking that even though the weather looks safe that we'll have a freak one this weekend *just* because we've booked a trip. Fingers crossed and try not to obsess too much. Can't change the weather, only can work around it! :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about your DS. I wish we could keep the kids ot of school for a week before the trip so we could make sure they stayed healthy when it's time to travel. Here's hoping hwat ever it is passes quickly so you can all enjoy the trip. :goodvibes

How about a QOTD for those of us still anxiously waiting:

What are you most looking forward to this trip??

:

13 days for us too :):):)

I think I'm most looking forward to our first trip with just the three of us. hubby, DD4 and myself. All of our trips have been with other family members and we've never had a trip just US. So now we have one :) I can't wait to spend those 5 glorious days with my two favorite people in our favorite place.

We're having a really weird warm winter here. 2011 was the wettest year ever recorded, but so far 2012 is going to the opposite extreme - we've only had a dusting of snow so far this winter and only trace precipitation at all this month. We average something like 10 or 12" of snow in January and I'm just waiting for it all to fall on the day we're supposed to fly out (did I mention I'm a REALLY nervous flyer?).  But like you said, no point in worrying over it because it isn't something I can change. We'll just work with whatever comes.

That does sound like something didn't agree with him. Hopefully it passes quickly and everyone is well before you leave!

I'm doing the same thing! But so far, it looks good for us on departure. We're doing Autotrain so if it is a bunch of snow the train gets cancelled and then we'll just have to drive down in it.

Did you see Accuweather forecast of 80 degrees for 1/21 and 1/22!!! :cool1::cool1: I really hope that's right -- we'll head straight to Kali for a few rides before it closes on 1/23. (Oh, that's right your new dates start later now so you'll miss those hot days!)

Has your son done the haircut at Disney yet? My DD6 did it twice and already asked to do it again for this trip. I didn't make an appt yet but may once we see how our schedule looks.

If you have the time, I'd wait and do it at Disney -- so much more fun and then you can get all that Mickey pixie dust, too!

We just got 1 pair of new sneakers for my DD6 yesterday too, since she outgrew two pairs recently.

2 more days for us! I have been checking (obsessing about is a more correct phrase) the weather forecast on weather.com, accuweather, NOAA and the local NBC station WESH every few hours. It keeps changing but it looks like highs in the mid-60's to low 70's and lows in the low 40's to low 50's from the 11th-17th, the dates of our trip. My bags are all packed and we are bringing everything from swimsuits to coats and gloves just in case.

My other obsession is hoping that everyone stays healthy. I know it won't do any good to worry, whatever happens is going to happen. All I can do is hope that everyone stays well.

We fly out Wednesday night and will take the dog to her "resort" that morning. Unfortunately I discovered she has fleas!!!???? I missed a dose of Frontline in November and she has either picked them up from doggy day camp (she goes once a week) or from the yard because of the warm weather. I applied Frontline this morning and the vet said it would take 24 hours to be effective. Should I go ahead and treat our indoor cat as well? He isn't being boarded but I don't want him to be miserable with fleas while we are gone. I have a pet sitter checking on him daily.

I had the same obsession too then I started feeding my family vitamin C, from Flintstone Vitamins to Vitamin C tablets for DH and I. I also bought Halls Defense that has Vitamin C in it too. It has helped so far, especially for my DH who came home sick on Thursday and decided that he was not going back to work until our vacation is over with so his cold symptoms don't get any worse (he works outdoors) :sad2:.

I take a multivitamin everyday but DH won't! He did just get over a cold though so maybe he is safe??? :confused3 DD on the other hand refuses to take vitamins. She has autism so there is no reasoning or bribing that will work with her. She loves oranges so I have been giving her some to eat everyday. Hope your hubby feels better soon! Last time we went to Disney I had a cold the whole time.

DS has never been to Disney so he has never done the barber shop so I might just do it. His hair really isnt that long right now so we should be fine. Wondering what time I should make an appointment for. We are hoping to hit rope drop but would like to do some rides first. So maybe 10 or 11...hmmm and I wanted to schedule Pirates League...wow I was so on top of things but now I feel like I have a ton to do.

The appts have a cancellation policy now ($) too, just so you know, so choose a time wisely!

If you go on a EMH-AM, you can get a few rides done and then go to the barber shop right at 9am and be the first/one of the first in. Otherwise wait until the afternoon. The mornings they are the busiest b/c everyone wants to show off their hair all day.

We are going to try later in the day but I'll also call up on the day prior to see if they have any openings at times that work for us.

Thanks for the info. I dont think we will do EMH and early afternoon is fine by us...thanks for the info.

Man I hope that weather is right! Were heading to AK on 1/21 hoping to get on Kali--it's always too cold when we try!

UGh yes fending off the sickies before a trip is always the trickiest part and it never seems to work lol.

We went down in September and when we stopped over night (we drove) in Georgia I had to find an urgent care clinic because I ended up with an ear infection and an upper respiratory infection and then DD came down with a fever that night ... then our dog sitter was MIA lol. it was so stressful.

BUT it all worked out and the sickies were nothing serious thank goodness. hoping to avoid them all together this trip.

Alright, I was trying to avoid looking at the weather until the last few days, now you got me totally adding Orlando to my weather app. on my phone :surfweb:popcorn::

Welcome to "Weather Checkers Anonymous". I'll start:

Me: Hi, my name is Marshay and I'm a weather checker.

All: Hi, Marshay!

Hey Cara here.... a fellow weather checker. :wave2:
I'm driving myself crazy looking at the weather! :crazy2:
I will continue to look at the bright side and weather.com, accuweather.com and WESH.com are all forecasting sunshine and not rain. Even if it's in the 60's, that's 40 degrees warmer then what they're calling for at home.

Sooo accuweather has our first day showing rain in the morning, then cloudy the rest of the day.. Which is EXACTLY what our first day was like last January.:lmao:

Am I weird in that I'm actually totally okay with that weather because I like how the rain clears out the parks? Not to say that I don't want warmth and sun during my trip, but just that I don't mind the rain/clouds a few times during the trip!

9 days until we leave Seattle, 10 until we arrive in Disney World. :)

Yup, I am solo as well. I think a few January people have set up meet ups, but none that I've heard of match my dates. Were your park plans still the same as what you had in your pre-trip report originally, or have they changed since? A couple of my dates/park plans matched up with yours if you wanted to try to do a meet up :)

I am still planning to keep my same schedule as long as I remember my journal! :rotfl: Some rides like Buzz and TSM are much more fun with two people.
