Add me to the list of people who thought that last night's GA finale was just too depressing. They couldn't give us even ONE happy story arc?
Coming right on the heels of the also depressing Ugly Betty season finale; it was just too much to take.

Oh and who else thought Adele had died when Addison was talking to the Chief? Her wording needed to be better.

The writers definitely wanted everyone to think that when the Chief ran off before Addison finished her sentence. That's good drama!

I realize that the writers wanted us to think-briefly-that Adele had died, but that scene just ticked me off. Any doctor who's coming out to speak to the family, especially when the family member is a trusted friend would say something to the effect of "Adele's going to be fine, but..." I realize it's TV, not reality, but the writing should somehow be reflective of real life.

I'm certainly glad that we got to hear the vows that Preston would have said had they gone through with the wedding. They were beautiful.

Ok I need some clairification:

I did see Bailey see the sign proclaiming Callie as chief, BUT, when McDreamy goes in and talks to the chief, he tells him to stick with it, a good chief learns from his mistakes, ect. Then the way the chief looks out the window, as if he is really considering it.

I took that as in the chief may possibly stay in the position.

But did that conversation happen earlier? Before he posted the letter?

It's two different "chief" positions -- one (Callie) is Chief Resident, the other is for Chief of Surgery.

The timing of the conversations with the attendings truly didn't seem to fit and IMO it was never really established when they occurred.

Yep. Callie, Bailey and that annoying peppy chick were the Residents up for it.

The other group are all attending surgeons -- the next level up from resident.

Didn't the Chief tell Bailey that she was his pick for Chief of Surgery one day? If he had such faith in her for that, why wasn't she his pick for chief resident?

Although I like Callie and I am glad this obviously means she's staying even though George might be gone.

George isn't going anywhere I think by George having to repeat his internship will be how GA ties in the new interns or at least Lexi's role. By having George in that group it will make it a little easier to mix the newbies into the mix.

He would have to redo the intern program if he wanted to continue as a surgeon but he is still a doctor. They all had to pass their medical boards and get their M.D. before they started the intern program. I would guess he could repeat or choose another speciality. Does anyone know how that would work IRL?

I called my friend this morning about this exact issue. This is what she said, "people all over amercia are going to be confused about that part of the show this morning!"

The above statement is correct. He is an MD. If he wants to be a surgeon he has to start with the newbies that came in at the end, or if he wants to choose another specialty, he would start a new year for that specialty. Or, he could be a General Practitioner with the education and status he has now as an MD.

Also, isn't Lexie Grey Mer's step-sister? Or is she really her half-sister? Does Lexie know about Meredith and Meredith know about her? And, isn't she the one that Derek flirted with in the bar?

Who is the one that had the baby that was ill in the hospital?

I think they are half-sisters, they both have the same father. I would assume Lexie knows more about Meredith than the other way around. Thank you so much Suzy! I just wasn't sure if they were bioligically related, or if the daughter was adopted by Mer's dad. So Mer has two half sisters and one will be a new intern next year in the surgical program. Hmmm...

OK - to confuse the issue even more: Is Lexie the daughter who came to the hospital with Meredith's father when he told her not to come to the funeral? He had a daughter with him, but I don't remember if she was Lexie or not.

Okay this is my take on the half-sisters (Mer's dad and step mom)...

I watched my TIVO'd epi from last week and...

The sister in the begining (with the father at the hospital) is the one that had the baby.

The sister at the end of the show is Lexi... she was in Med school while the baby was being born. The step mom mentioned her at the time.

Mer didn't go to the funeral, the Dad told her not to, so as far as we know they have never meet... only the other sister has meet Mer.

I don't remember another sister in Iraq.

Well I liked the episode and like a good drama I didn't want it to end... That's what's got me hooked for next season - I'll be back because I want to see what happens with these people! Burke and Crisitina: I was slightly shocked by the end - I didn't expect that to happen... I thought they'd actually go through with it... I also loved Cristina's breakdown at that end - her "I'm free" attack - Sandra Oh's an amazing actress!

Bailey: Richard didn't make her chief resident because he's grooming her for bigger, better things! I'm going to maintain that story until I see what happens next season... The scene between her and George was so touching though - her worrying that she failed her interns and him feeling that he failed her! They'll work through the problem together!

Callie-George-Izzie: that's going to be a mess... George has made a decision, a big one, I think that's why he was so gung-ho about talking to Izzie at the church... I honestly think he will relive the intern year, thereby reliving this whole past year of his life - he'll be able to make the changes he'd like to make with a little less guilt (ie: about leaving Callie to be with Izzie) Callie will get over it because she'll be busy being Chief Resident.

Alex and Rebecca/Ava: I want her to come back with her name changed to Ava - she loves him...

Adele and Richard: I loved how easily he showed that he loves her still... I hope he can find a way to make it last!

Mere and Der: I honestly don't care much about them now - she's behaving badly and he's got to move on... That's how Mere's always going to act...
