Ok, I just listend to the program with AS-P. It was from last year, so no new info
It was kind of interesting, though! She talked about her inspiration for Lorelai and Rory, and why the humor is always so quick and they are talking over each other, etc. She also talked about how the frequent references to pop culture came about in the scripts.
She spoke of her friend Helen, who is the inspiration for Lane -- whose life and personality sounds EXACTLY like Lane's, "much to Helen's chagrin" (according to AS-P)
They talked a bit about her relationship with her parents, and growing up in a show-biz family and how no, the inspiration for the show did NOT come from her relationship with her parents.
She had a few more things to say about writing for an hour-long show, her history with Rosanne and her husband's history with Family Guy, etc but the funniest part of the interview was this:
When she went to the stations to pitch TV show ideas, she had fully developed four possible ideas, all of which she was excited about. She finally got to her fourth, with NO interest from the listeners. She said she could tell they were completely bored, so she pretty much blurted out that her last idea was about a mother and daughter whose relationship was more like friends than parent-child. They loved it, and she left freaking out because she had NO idea where that came from and what the heck she was going to do with it.
So she went home hysterical to her DH, and he said 'let's go away and we can work on something'. So they went to a little inn in Connecticut.... and "threw something together" there
Sorry there's nothing new, or about them leaving!
