The Official Gilmore Girls Thread

I just watched last weeks episode.

I hated the ending. With Anna spouting off to Lorelei like that. Especially after Lor told Anna that she is a single mom also, and can understand. Anna went too far. I did not like it. Lorelei is coming off more pathetic every show. What happened to the strong independent Lorelei we used to know and love?

It was nice that Luke finally admitted why he didn't want April and Lor to meet though.

Hopefully tonight we will see the Gilmore parents, Lane, Sukie or someone more exciting.....

Thanks for not giving away the who is pregnant spoiler! You gals are good!! :teeth:

Knew something was missing from the show, and you've totally pointed out what I didn't realize. You're right, Albertan mom, they are really making Lorelai look pathetic. I guess I don't mind b/c we all go through stages in our lives where we aren't exactly ourselves, but I miss the old Lorelai.

Tonight's episode... Emily's character really shined. Those glasses on her were just too cute on her. :smooth: A very touching scene between Emily and Lorelai.

I didn't really get the whole storyline of Sookie & Jackson and their pickles (pot). Strange sidestory. Rory's deal -- snooze fest. (But I'm biasedly against her this season. Get over your immature rich boy and get back to focusing on your life.) I also think this season they've been throwing around the $$$ issue way too much: Christopher getting rich; Richard & Emily buying a house; donating school in Rory's name. Maybe this isn't too out of the ordinary for the wealthy, I just don't remember it invading Lorelai and Rory's lives so much.

No progress on L&L besides the deteriorating of their relationship. So sad. Luke giving advice to TJ and he isn't even following it himself. By the way, TJ shined in this episode as well.

Others' thoughts on tonight?

Help, my VCR didn't work and we missed it. Could we get a synopsis please?!

Thanks,
Jen

Let's see what I remember:

It was decided that spaghetti and meatballs at Friday night dinners causes arguments. :teeth: I thought that was pretty cute myself. Richard and Emily announced that they're taking the money they had originally allotted for Rory's education and donating it to Yale in Rory's name and having them name a building after her.

Jackson found a huge pot field growing on some of his land and he and Sookie were lugging it around town trying to find a way to dispose of it. What the heck were they trying to do with it when they took it around town late at night?

Cute sidestory where Michel had accidentally been drinking 2% milk in his coffee instead of non-fat milk and was frantically exercising to try to work off all those extra calories.

Luke found out that Liz was pregnant and she told him TJ had left her. Luke went to find TJ to beat him up and discovered that Liz had actually kicked him out. He brought TJ to meet Liz and they made up.

Rory brought Logan home and is being very overprotective. I loved the scene where she left Paris and Doyle to watch over him and they were watching March of the Penguins. :teeth: "No, not the dead baby penguin!"

Emily had Lasik surgery that didn't work out well and was pretty much blind. Richard had arranged for an army of helpers whom Emily had promptly fired for incompetence. Since Richard was out of town, she'd called Lorelai to drive her around in this huge SUV type limo that had tinted windows. They ended up going to the realtors office where it turned out that Emily and Richard wanted to buy Luke and Lorelai a house in Star's Hollow because Lorelai's house was too small and she really thought that Luke needed some space of his own. It was so touching, it just about made me cry. Well, it made Lorelai cry, too, and she told Emily that she and Luke were not getting married.

Did I miss anything?

Pretty much got it all! :teeth: Paris and Doyle were the best part of last night.

I too was fed up at the irony of Luke giving relationship advice to TJ.

They pretty much laid the finale out for us in the previews...

(Putting flame suit on)...I'm sorry but ASP & DP have NOT impressed me this season. Maybe it is time for them to move on.

GG seasons before was known for it's great writing and the character interaction. Well, this season just plain stinks. Do they think we are stupid with the whole Luke & Lorelai non wedding thing? And, now, she is going to go running to Chris? (possible spoiler - highlight to read) C'mon! :furious: Plus, the interaction between Lorelai & Rory and Lorelai & Em just hasn't been what it was in past seasons. I'm sorry, but I'm tired of the whole season and can't wait to see what the new writer brings next season.

FWIW, the new writer is an Executive Producer on the show so he knows what it's about. I don't think it can go too down hill.

Ok, Mal & Stacey--did I miss something? Where the heck were Sookie & Jackson planning on taking those trash bags when they were wandering around downtown Star's Hollow?

I didn't get the wandering around SH with the "pickles" either...not sure. Did love the end though where Lorelai asks what the smell is. :rotfl:

The only thing I think that didn't get mentioned (and that I just remembered) is that Rory was PO'd because Mitchum tried to make her sound like on of his accomplishments in the WSJ...she got upset and tried to get them to retract it...also a :rotfl: scene.

I liked it when her little helper kept suggesting she ask for a "clarification" to be printed. Mitchum is a twit but I'm not sure why Rory was so worked up about it.

Darn--forgot to add that I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't figure out what they were planning to DO with the "pickles." Take 'em out for an airing? I did like it when they ran into both the minister AND the rabbi. :teeth:

Well, after last night's preview I think I will be very upset after the season finale. At least we'll have a summer to recover. I did think there were some great scenes. I thought Emily was great and I like when she and Lorelai interact in a positive way. (not fighting!) I don't mind the whole Rory/Logan thing but I would like to see Rory have more of a plot, and be in Star's Hollow a bit more.

Where are Lane and Zach? I'd like to see them after their honeymoon, are they still living with Brian? Well, all in all a wasted season. I have hope for next year though! :thumbsup2

I agree this season is not like the others..when I wait a day or two to watch on TIVO...not good...lets hope maybe some new life will be breathed into it with the new producer.

Also was it my imagination or did logan give a shout out to "fastpass" in regards to line waiting to beat his father?

Or am I to immersed into planning our trip...

Yep, fastpass was definitely mentioned...but I'm not sure it wasn't a term before Disney adopted it.

Maybe the first show next season one of the L's will wake up and this year will have all been a dream :cloud9: . :rotfl2:

Hey, it worked for Dallas a few years back - Bobby just walked out of the shower and all was forgotten :lmao:

Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself to the thread and say Hi  ! I've seen every single GG episode (except this weeks, lol, will watch that tonight - recorded it) and I'm a big fan! Been a fan since the the very first episode. Glad I found fellow DISers who like the show!

If you read the opening credits of the show, you will see that Keith Eisner (son of the Evil Dark Lord Michael Ei$ner) is a Supervising Producer on the show now.
