The Official Gilmore Girls Thread

My best friend and I were just talking about Jason after watching that last Season 4 ep on ABC Family ... so did he just go to the bathroom and never come back??? ;)

I'm so into this show ... I actually had a dream last night that I was watching the final ep of the series and Lorelei was marrying Christopher instead of Luke -- I was so mad that I was crying in my dream. I really need to get a life -- I'm way too invested in this, LOL!

Here's a tribute to the show from TV Gal (she's on Zap2it.com). I just adore this show!! My DH claimed he hated it for the longest time...until he actually started to watch it.

TV Gal Gives it Up for the 'Gilmore Girls'
(Monday, February 07 08:02 AM)

HOLLYWOOD (Zap2it.com) - - Now, I don't want to over-hype it, but this week's 100th episode of "Gilmore Girls" may be the best episode the series has ever had. At the end, there is a moment so chilling, delivered with such pitch-perfect aplomb that it left me staring at my TV in silent shock. So this column isn't about the missteps the show has taken along the way or concerns that the show may be repeating itself (is Logan the new Tristan)? Today's column is about celebrating one of television's best and most overlooked series.
Since its premiere in 2000, the heart, strength and soul of the series has always rested on the show's inter-generational strife. The series has given us some indelible characters. Scott Patterson's Luke Danes has done for coffee shops what John Corbett did for radio stations on "Northern Exposure." Kelly Bishop and Edward Hermann's Emily and Richard are such real, vibrant characters. Yes, they are wealthy snobs but they are also devoted parents and grandparents and, as this week's episode proves, loyal and devoted spouses. And we all know I still want to be Lorelai when I grow up.

From the characters who only get sporadic screen time (I love Lane's boyfriend) to the town residents who've been there since day one (Ms. Patty and Babette), Stars Hollow embraces its members and by extension its viewers. It's the type of town that only exists on television but is so believable that it has become a major character. The last time I felt this connected to made-up location was 1984. That was the year I told my mom I wanted to go to Pine Valley for our family vacation.

As we prepare for the milestone episode, let's look back on some of my favorite episodes:

Rory's Birthday Parties (Nov. 9, 2000): A befuddled Emily and Richard attend the birthday party Lorelai throws for her in Stars Hollow. It establishes the "we're fish out of water in each other's worlds" subtext that sustains the series.

The Road Trip to Harvard (Oct. 21, 2001): This episode featured Lorelai's poignant trip to Harvard where, with no dialogue, we see her reflect on the life she might have had if she had not become pregnant at 16. Luke builds a chuppah for Lorelai and Max's wedding. And it still takes Lorelai almost three years to realize Luke loves her.

I Can't Get Started (May 21, 2002): In the second season finale, Lorelai and Christopher briefly reunite only to find out that Sherry is pregnant and Jess and Rory kiss for the first time.

Haunted Leg (Oct. 1, 2002): When Christopher shows up unannounced for Friday night dinner, Emily defends Lorelai and asks him to leave. These are the moments that make us love Emily.

Raincoats and Recipes (May 18, 2004): In the fourth season finale, Rory sleeps with Dean, a married man. I stand by my earlier statement that the show is stronger because Rory did something we didn't approve of. Also Luke and Lorelai finally kiss. What more could we ask for?

Do you get ABC Family? They're re-starting the series from the beginning starting Monday.

I've been watching ever since ABC Family started airing it in the fall. I immediately was hooked. I've seen every episode they've aired (seasons 1-4). Monday, they go back to the Pilot & start over and I'm crushed. It's gonna suck not having a new (to me!) episode every day.

ETA - the pilot airs today at 5pm then Monday at 11am EST

No, the first show got put on last Friday, Feb. 4, I was so disappointed it started over, but they went right up to spring 2004. The end of last season's show.

Wow I so have to join this thread! I looooove Gilmore Girls. Mum and I watch ever Tuesday and have for the past 3 years. I'm so happy about Loralie and Luke

The Friday 5pm show was the pilot and today's (Mon 2/7) 11am show was also the pilot.

Any guesses as to what the big finale is? for the 100th episode....If Lorelei defends Christopher when Luke stands up to him then i will probably throw my shoe at the TV!.......

I do still have some questions though...What happened to Dean...I know they were seeing each other but they show Rory and whats his name making out at the wedding....hum...

Holycow

I just KNOW that I am going to be upset tonight after watching the show!! Of course, I'll still watch next week, and the next and the next....

holycow, if I remember right, Dean and Rory broke up after a party that Emily and Richard threw with the intention of finding an "appropriate" boyfriend for Rory (it was Rory and a bunch of guys). Logan rescued her and she was in a separate room with him and his friends having a good time. She mentioned several times that she had to leave at a certain time so that Dean could pick her up. She was a little late, and when she went outside and Dean saw her all dressed up ( gown, tiara and everything--Emily had gone to town getting her ready) and running out of the house with all of these obviously high society people, he asked her why he was even there and he just left her there. We haven't seen him again since.

BTW, interesting spoilers at http://www.tvguide.com/news/insider I'd copy and post but don't know how to black them out for those who don't want to read the

I can't believe I missed that one! I thought I had seen them all ....well, at least they cleared that up instead of with Jason .....they just left him hanging! (or me!)

Thanks for the info! I like spoilers! LOL

I just finished watching tonight's episode :cool1: How does this show not win awards??!! If not for acting than at least the writing! Just when you thought Lorelei and her mother could start getting along it starts all over again.

I thought this episode was great. So glad that Lorelai ran after Luke and then told her mother off. About time. Can't wait for next weeks episode. :earboy2:

That was the best line Lorelai has EVER uttered...
wish I could remember it...heheheh

what did she say to Emily? "After tonight, we're done."?

I think she said "You and me, we're done"

Can't wait to see next weeks episode!

:cheer2: What a great episode! I'm also very happy that Loralei ran after Luke and told her mother where to go.

Last night was AMAZING. I hate that we have to wait a whole week!!

BTW, my best friend called me last night to let me know that Season 3 will be out on DVD the first week of May (the 3rd I think). You can already pre-order it on Amazon. :)

Ahhh! Last nights episode was so good! And man, Lorelei delivered that line "You and me...we're done" SO perfectly. I loved it! But seeing the previews for next week's episode...trouble's brewing. I don't want Luke and Lorelei to break up. It took them forever to get to this point, they can't do that to us! lol I really like Logan. He's different from all the other guys Rory has been with. I hope he becomes a regular character.

Last night's episode was one of the best!! The whole episode was great.

"Grandma wants a picture"
"Of this?"

The ending was so great. The cease-fire between Lorelai and her mom was bound to end eventually and last night the ending was perfect. I'm excited to see how that plays out.

"When crack babies are born you don't give the mothers puppies"

Haha that line was classic becuase Emily said it but it was something Loralie would say :)

Yeah! That was funny! And I can't wait to see how Emily is going to react to Lorelei's comment. I'm sure she'll tell her to "stop being ridiculous" or that she just wants whats best for her. That seems like something she'd say. Or has said before. haha
