The Official Free Dining Watch 2007 Thread

I'm with you on this one, but in the end I decided the AAA discount was still worth it for me. But I am also getting frustrated dealing with my TA who is about as clueless as it gets. I've had to hold her hand and explain all this stuff to her multiple times. None of the people in that office knew a thing about free dining until I told them  I've stressed how important it is for her to call immediately tomorrow morning and get my stuff straight. If she screws this up I'm really going to have a fit :lmao:

Yeah, I don't trust my TA either...that's why I've booked a package thru Disney and will be on the phones first thing in the morning (4am here) to get free dining...if she does secure it for me, I'll cancel the one thru disney - but if not BYE BYE AAA! Cuz you're right - with no free dining the AAA discount is worth it - saved us $300 off the cost of the regular rate.

So now we're down to less than 11 hours (but I'm not counting) - I'm off to work - so I'll be anxiously awaiting the end of my shift - but when I get home it will be less than five hours ...and I'll be back here :surfweb:

Yeah, I didn't trust my TA either and I was on the poor guy's back every minute. I was getting so nervous that I didn't hear from him that I actually called Disney and was going to book another reservation myself and then cancel one of them. He came through for me though and got me the free dining because I have a Disney Visa.

Next time I'm definitely booking through Disney because I don't like leaving my trip in someone else's hands.

Try to think positive! My AAA agent got it taken care of for me on Monday when the Visa offer hit!! She got thru without having to wait on hold for an hour.....I have heard other people say AAA has its own block of rooms to draw from to! I am sure you guys will be fine!!! Good luck!!!!!!!!! :wizard:

It is my understanding from Disney, that when you book through a travel agent all changes, updates, etc must be made through the travel agent. We tried this before and Disney reminded us that if we had changes or "problems" you HAVE to go through your agent. And also reminded us that sometimes your agent isn't available over the weekend. We found it wasn't worth the hastle and went directly through Disney.
Thanks, Once everything cools off I'll give a try one way or the other. I think in a week there will be may rooms to choose from. Last year we booked 1 day before it ended (and that was into their extended dates) and got a room. Just want to keep the same dates cause we got great ADR's . Music is fine but did it last year would like POP or Movie. But I'll be eating great where ever it is Me & DW stay.popcorn:: popcorn::

long wait again tonight...so those waiting for tomorrow call first thing.

I go Aug 31-Sept 3rd at the Yatch Club!!!
std view (Inc insurance)-1449.60(one day tickets-we have AP's) (Water view would have been 1685.86) plus there is specials going on with AIRTRAN airline...4 tickets from Newburg NY RT non-stop-617.20!!!
Thought this would be a nice back to school vacation.!!!!
(POR from the 30-5th was 1365.22-but DH didn't want to take a lot of time off work-again with 1day ticket and Ins)

I heard AAA was booking FD early without the Visa, so maybe those of you who already have your trip booked with them may want to call them tonight to see if they can add it to your package.

I always go through Disney Travel, the other TA's probably get their info from here anyway, so we're probably more up to date then them :rotfl2:

Okay only a few more hours, it's almost time to watch Sanjaya TV :happytv: then back to the puter for updates :surfweb: finish folding my clothes :laundy: bed then UP and at em' for the FD :coffee:  Best of Luck to EVERYONE! :grouphug:

We are planning our trip to arrive Aug. 28th and leave on Sept. 1st. However, our arrival days and departure days will not be spent in the parks. We are splitting the 29th between MGM and AK (haven't decided how best to do that yet)
The 30th we are doing MK!
and on the 31st (my Birthday), we are gonna explore Epcot!

For curiosity's sake, I was wondering if anyone else is planning on being in the same parks on the same day....

it will be a long night indeed. I can't sleep. I will be up before dawn dialing. Wish me luck! Good luck to all of you too! I can honestly say that I am glad I booked all my own stuff and don't have to wait for AAA to do their thing. Nothing against AAA but I am a control freak. I want to be the one on the other end of the phone if they say "well this resort isn't available but this one is? etc" Which I pray isn't the case!

Good Luck All!

BTW.....anyone heard of any codes yet or anything? So far the non-card holders being able to book tomorrow hasn't been verified anywhere with a code or anything has it?

I haven't heard anything about a code, but when I called my AAA TA today to remind her that tomorrow's the big day, she told me that she did finally receive an email about free dining. She even told me that she was going to take my file home with her and call before she goes to work in the morning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.:scared:
