*The OFFICIAL February 2012 Thread!*

Ok... i'm in...I think! My DH and I were married at the Yacht Club in 2008 and have not been back since. We are thinking of going a few days in Feb. but are not sure when the best dates are? We have no kids yet and I would love to avoid any extra crowded weekends. Any advice?!

So, talked to hubby and we're going to plan to get to WDW early on our arrival day, so that we can take in AKL and spend the night there (or maybe 2 if we end up not doing a dining plan) before moving on to POP.

Now to sneak away from DD long enough to make the phone call.

From what I can gather, avoid President's Week since a lot of kids are out of school on break. Also, in another thread this AM, it was mentioned that Mardi Gras was the following week, and that it would probably be busy then too. So, I guess I would say early to mid-February would be your best bet, maybe?

Huzzah!!

Packages are out for 2012. :thumbsup2

Doing some quick math. I am slightly torn as to what to do.

We could do 10 days at POP for the same price as 7 days at POFQ. (I have included park hoppers and the dining plan) Heck if they do the free dining we could possibly do 10 days for under what we paid for our trip last year.

Where as two more days would be nice, we have only ever stayed at POFQ, and I am hesitant to stay anywhere else.

All you Pop people, is it a nice resort? Is it unbearably huge?

Okay! Put our deposit down for the 2/12 trip.

We are going 2/6/12 through 2/16/11 (value season!!!)

We will be staying at POFQ, as DH really does not want to stay elsewhere.

Now I just need to figure out where to eat. My goal, is to eat at places we have not dined at before.

So that mean no Le Cellier, but since is now a 2TS for dinner, thats no skin off my nose. :rotfl:

Maybe we will eat at Via Napoli or Tutto for Valentines day.

Yay!

We ended up changing our plans and paid our deposit last night. Our new dates are 2/10-2/12 at AKL (Savannah view  ) Then, 2/12-2/16 at POP.

Oh, yeah! Now we have to start thinking about Valentine's Day!

We thought about staying a couple nights at a deluxe and then moving down, but DH said POFQ, or nothing. :lmao:

IMHO, Epcot is the best on Valentines Day, from my whole one experience. It was so much fun to see all the Princesses with their Princes. I also ordered flowers from Disney Gifts & Floral and they were AMAZING!! delivered to the room bright and early, before we even had a chance to shower!.

I refuse to use 2TS on Le Cellier, so I know thats out for dinner. I really want to try Italy's resturants.

Oooh Mamasmurf and Shunasee your plans sound great so far!

I am trying to decide what I want to book... we wanted to try the GF this time since we always choose the AKL as our deluxe pick.
In my heart of hearts I would love to stay club level and just enjoy 4-5 days tops, have dinner at the Chef's table at V&A.

But then I think I might just want a regular theme park view... or even just go with the Wilderness Lodge since we have never been there either :confused3

I have stayed at AKL once, for two nights and loved it!! Where else can one go out on their balcony and see a giraffe? However, that was a trip with my mom, who spends more than me. ;)

I say look deep into your heart and say "what resort" and see whats the first thing that pops into your head. That might be the resort for you. :hippie:

DH and I have always (does two previous trips count as always??) stayed at POFQ. I love how small the resort is. Plus, DH is buddies with a bartender at Scat Cat's, so its like being home again. As much as I would love to move up to a delux, I dont think it will ever be in the cards for us, and thats okay!

How many days are you going for?

I am so frazzled right now. So, it's been awhile since I've been on the board and I assumed that I wouldn't be able to book our package until end of June or early July. Well, I decided to check out this thread and see if anything new was going on. Glad I did!!! I saw that the 2012 packages are out now. I go to the Disney website to try and book our package and I found out that CSR is all booked and it wouldn't let me book anything. So I call the reservation line and am informed that the only rooms they have left are ones with a king bed. Then we'd have to book 2 rooms instead of 1. Ugh!:headache: So I went ahead and decided to book a room at the Beach Club instead and figured that we could change our resort if I find something else or if a room opens up at CSR. To be honest, I prefer to stay at BC as we've never stayed at a deluxe before but it's a lot more money. I'm just glad that the trip is now booked.:yay: Now, just need to book airfare but I don't think I can this early.

Ah! Whenever I think about it, it is the GF :cloud9: I think we will stay tops 5-6 days and we plan on relaxing, using the pool, going to the parks at a leisurely pace.

I just need to talk with DH and see if he wants to do club level or just normal MK view. We normally don't do club level, but having breakfast all taken care of, teas, coffee, snacks and cordials, etc really does cut a lot out of our food bill since we are not big eaters and we get full with just a couple of snacks here and there and one normal meal.:thumbsup2 (Rationalizing here haha!)

Ah, well if he approves it we'll be fine, he is the accountant :surfweb: I am the one that comes in with the crazy schemes  if he says it is a no-go I'll have to settle for WL or AKL... I know, such hardship, right? ;) Ah it is his fault for spoiling me rotten, I was happy as a clam at Pop :3dglasses (still am, I just like to mess with him a bit sometimes LOL) he had to go and mess it up. princess:

Now, just need to book airfare but I don't think I can this early.

I have been looking at airfare. We can book it this early, but boy has the price gone up from last year. I am hoping that I can put it off till like Oct/Nov. and maybe the prices will go down.

Made a payment today, only a ton more to go. :rotfl:

I am so excited and have started really looking at resturants. I need DH to contact his buddy out there to find out what day they are going fishing, so I can plan accordingly.

Which resorts have spas? Only the GF? I am going to do a spa morning, while DH is fishing.

Dining Options, can I get some input please?

1. Liberty Tree Tavern
2. Teppan Edo
3. 50's Primetime Cafe
4. Whispering Canyon Cafe
5. Crystal Palace (done before and LOVED it)
6. Le Cellier, Lunch (hoping the lunch menu is similar to the old dinner menu)
7. Tutto Italia (Valentine's Day Dinner)
8. Cinderella's Royal Table

We are two adults. I really only want to do Cinderella's Royal Table to see the inside of the Castle.

Opinions?

OK We are always just 2 adults so I will give you our impressions of what we have done:
1. Liberty Tree Tavern
We have only done lunch here, looking forward to experiencing dinner this October for MNSSHP. We like it :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

2. Teppan Edo
Haven't done this one yet.

3. 50's Primetime Cafe
We just did this one for Star Wars Weekends for dinner and we had a lot of fun. We even got our clean plate club stickers :rotfl2::thumbsup2:thumbsup2

4. Whispering Canyon Cafe
We have done this one, but only for breakfast. We have gone as a couple and as a big group and loved it both times, but we are very fun loving and enjoy playing around with our waiters/waitresses antics. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

5. Crystal Palace (done before and LOVED it)
We love it too and have done it for breakfast, lunch and dinner

6. Le Cellier, Lunch (hoping the lunch menu is similar to the old dinner menu)
Haven't been here since the new menu started, hopefully it will be good!

7. Tutto Italia (Valentine's Day Dinner)
Haven't tried this one yet!

8. Cinderella's Royal Table
DH re-proposed to me here, we had dinner and it was all incredible and timed right before Wishes, very romantic. The food isn't signature level by any means, but not too bad either. Visiting the princesses was a lot of fun and they were very nice and played along with us just the same as anybody.
I want to go back and do it over for breakfast :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

How sweet!! My DH would never do anything like that, love him to death, he just does not think of those types of things. :lmao:

I figure we are safe with Character meals, as last year, he really got into the swing of things. DH is "tough" looking(bald/tattooed/dyed red goatee), so everyone is always amazed at our character pictures. That and the characters (mostly Tigger), seem to have so much fun with him.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like I am on the right track for dining.

Just decided to take the trip. I'm doing the happy dance... But inside this time because we won't be telling the kids DD 15, DD 9, DS 3 till the day we leave.. If I can keep it in that long.

A question for you that have been on Presidents Week. How busy is it really? We have been twice for Christmas and twice aroun the 4th of July, can it really be busier than those times? We are going at this time because our kids are off for Mardi Gras and this year it falls in line with President's Day :confused3 !

Planning a trip February 4-11, 2012 and staying at the Dolphin. I was unsure about the arrival and departure dates I decided on, but seeing plenty of other people do the same thing (or just about) in this thread I feel better about my choice.

This is a surprise anniversary trip for the GF. We haven't been to WDW since we were kids in the 80s.
