DIS Dads The Official DisDads Rant Thread

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Does it not send a confirmation e-mail when you do? Last night, we added a couple to our trip, and I got e-mails for each one.
I didn't get one from that first effort, but eventually I did get ADRs and confirmation e-mails after just a liiiiiiittle bit of frustration.

Still....that has got to be SO freaking frustrating....were you able to get the times you originally wanted?

OK.....so my respect for Craftsman power equipment, and Line trimmers in general is fading.

I decided last May to make the plunge into the gas powered line trimmer market after successfully using an electric model for a number of years.

I decided I'd get a "good quality" trimmer so I opted for a Husqvarna from Lowes. It broke down on me within 2 uses. They offered to replace it, but I chose to return. I decided that if this "high dollar" trimmer would break, I'd rather save some cash and get something a little less expensive.

So I went to SEARS!

Bought a straight shaft 27cc line trimmer...took it home...started on first pull! Then, after about 5 uses, the choke switch broke off in my hand!

Off to Sears I go to complain. They replace it on the spot...no questions asked (of course I was within their 90 day exchange period).

So now I've had the replacement trimmer for almost a year now. And last night when I was just about halfway through my trimming....the head doesn't want to spin fast. I put it down on the grass to do the trimming and the head completely stops.

So once again - I have to go back to Sears and complain. I hope they do the right thing!

So frustrating!!! :headache:

So, caving in to the fear that my hard drive just might crash one of these days (and we'll lose the photos and videos of our daughter), I invested in a 2TB NAS (Network Accessible Drive) to use as a backup. The sharing features also sold me on it as well (one common location for all files, including access from anywhere). Now, there was a time when all this techno stuff would have been second nature to me. These days...not so much, LOL. So I opted for what I thought would be the easy route. Get it - unpack it - connect it - turn it on - use it. Sigh. Why is nothing ever easy? It's a Seagate GoFlex Home 2TB NAS. Worked fine initially, and setup was a breeze. Now I keep getting a "device not connected" error. And after some internet searching it turns out this is a common problem. Beverly.

I'm giving myself thru the weekend to make it work otherwise it's going back and I'm digging out the cassette deck. :surfweb:

This is why I've never been a big fan of NAS devices. I much prefer devices that are attached to a computer, with access managed through that computer. I use a Drobo in this manner to protect my data. The connection reliability is MUCH better.

do you guys have a white minivan?????

My first rant (here).

My dad has had a 2nd stroke and needs a walker for mobility. I went to visit yesterday, and my mom, 11 years younger, says that she is traveling to visit her sisters in Europe and they will be gone a month. In a later conversation, she lets it slip that her 1 sister is so wealthy that she "doesn't know how to spend all her money", and she bought my cousin (the other sister's child) a new house in South Beach, Miami.

Originally, I was mad because my dad can't drive, can't go downstairs (laundry in basement) and she has made no plans for anyone to bring food, check on him, take garbage outside, laundry, etc. Then, I was mad because her sister has all this money and she won't ask for care services while she is gone? Finally, why can't she buy me a house. Also, this cousin has no job, no children, and only her live in boyfriend to support.

So, I'm 2 hours away and will check on him when I can. At least I have a couple weeks to see if I can get some neighbors or others to help for the month.

Why is it that family treat other family so bad?

No, thank you very much. We are in a minivan free zone, lol.

I am now trying to troubleshoot the drive issue (and type) with one hand while my daughter is fast asleep on the other.

I am sorry to hear about your father.

Thanks. I guess I normally would not care so much how others spend their money or live their own lives, but in this context, it really just Beverlyed me off and I had to rant about it.

Sorry about your dad. That behavior is rant worthy so rant away. My belief is that family treat each other so badly because they can. Nobody else would put up with it.
