The Official DIS Oscars LIVE Watch Party Thread! The Afterparty continues. . .

In light of the most recent news, that the Academy asked Will to leave, I especially would like to hear from Jada. As a PP mentioned, we are missing those crucial couple of seconds from when Will was laughing, (or even faux laughing,) and Jada rolled her eyes, to when Will got up to slap Chris.

Also missing is her reaction to seeing it. And when she sat there and heard Will yelling at Chris about her.

When (IF) Will was asked to leave and he wouldn't do it, how did she feel then? She had to know he imploded his career?

In one of the photos, she appears to be trying to comfort/console him, but it can also be interpreted as telling him to calm down.

I'm sure she is saving her piece for her stupid Red Table show, so she can make money off her take.

Coming in I really enjoyed both Will and Chris ... sorry in advance for the book, but it really was a complicated event that I think has given many food for thought.

I watched it live (and backed it up because WHAT?) read the whole thread, following credible news stations, have a basic follow of Smiths and saw what many of them there have now said. I really wanted to wait until the Academy made a decision of how they would proceed. And the most interesting to me is the "commoners" (us) response to this.

I think this is something of a complex situation and the simplest part is Chris Rock's part. He is a comedian who was invited to present/roast as they have done for decades at the Oscars. The Smiths agreed to sit in the, as we all call it, splash zone. If you sit in the splash zone you are agreeing to be a potential target. The Smiths - having protested the Oscars and created quite the scene regarding the Oscars before were likely taking their chances.

All reports are Chris knew nothing of Jada's hair situation, as I'm sure most in Hollywood and elsewhere didn't know. I am sure celebrities spend very little time watching TMZ, Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight or reading the Enquirer. They likely could care less about most of the others issues. Jada (and her daughter) showed up with SHAVED heads, not bald, shaved. He comments about GI Jane. Not sure if folks remember but everyone was abuzz about how strong Demi was when she told them to shave her head, no skull cap and fixture but shave her beautiful hair. She was considered strong and incredibly confident to do that. So to me, it wasn't even an insult but Jada could have taken the compliment of a bold brave woman.

The interesting part to me is that Jada came out with her hair situation and showed everyone her thin line of hair missing where a headband would be. No missing hair anywhere else. I acknowledge alopecia presents in different ways but she has a 99% head full of hair. I've seen numerous professionals in the field who say she does NOT present with auto immune alopecia but rather "traction alopecia" which is basically self caused. It comes from pulling your hair tight, weaves, extensions, braids, rollers at night etc. The longer you manipulate your hair the higher the odds this happens. This is completely different to me than a person suffering auto immune. Add that Jada professed to be proud of who she is and it won't bother her.

The joke was not bad and Will laughed his head off. He is on video and we all saw him laughing, hard. She scowled then looked at Will and the camera cut away. What I want to know is what did she say to him to trigger him. He literally flipped on a dime. Did she mention her "boyfriend" or what? His flipping was kinda frightening and as I watched him screaming and losing it I wondered did he have some kind of mental breakdown? He has always seemed chill.

Then he stays?!?!?! Well now we hear he was asked to leave and refused and I guess rather than bring in the police and completely ruin the whole night (not that it wasn't already) they let them stay. It only emboldened them. They sat there like the king and queen. I swear she ate it up. Then he wins and wow, standing ovation. What is wrong with those people? I was incredibly saddened by their behavior. If I were there, no standing, no clapping. I know they won't take the award away, there would be too many others BUT he needs to be removed totally from the Academy, not eligible for further nominations and he can not attend and put others at risk.

THEN he goes to the after party - like go home and get yourself together. He dances and sings and all his peers surround him with their phones to tape him? It was bizarre. He goes from chill, to laughing, to violent, to screaming, to crying, to dancing like nothing happened.

It is no secret that they are not a well liked couple in Hollywood and I don't think it even has to do with him, it is her. She has hardly worked and isn't a good actress anyway, he brings in all the cash. She runs the show. He is clearly in love with her and she does nothing but humiliate him. She thinks she is queen bee and honestly I think she is a gold digger. What should have been a great night was likely the final straw in a toxic relation. This was not caused by Chris, this was caused by whatever he is living with. He cracked. I seriously hope he gets help and tries to salvage his life. But he has plenty of money and doesn't have to work again, and might not.

I hope Hollywood takes a hard look at itself. We commoners use the Oscars to peer into their fancy lives, their clothes, their dates and boy did we get an eye opener. It was already one of the worst Oscars I've seen even before this. With a whole Hollywood #MeToo movement against the industry ... WHY was Regina Hall feeling up men to their crotches and then inviting more on stage saying she was going to give them a covid test with her tongue. Seriously? One step forward, three steps backward.

Lastly I learned lots. At the time he was trying to make it a passionate reaction (crime) and my DS said to me, passion = fist, slap = he knew it would do less damage. Okay. But now I've seen so many videos of women saying it is almost like a PTSD moment. That in domestic violence the open hand leaves less marks on victim and no marks on aggressor like a fist would. That is was a clear flag that this was not an out of control moment. So many women telling their stories and how watching this upset them. I appreciate their speaking out, and I learned.

Hoping Academy does the right thing, hope he gets the help he needs and the Academy ceremony needs to reinvent itself before no one is watching.

We still haven't heard directly from Jada about how SHE feels about ANY of this. Her silence is notable. (Her vague post aside, because it didn't directly speak to anything of substance)

I'd like to hear from her in all this. For all we know, she wasn't even offended. An eye roll is typically a reaction to a lame/bad joke rather than any deep offense or hurt. She is letting Will take the fall here and that says a lot.
She has said it will be talked about on the Red Table Talk.. ratings, cha ching!?!

And there's another video, how even 15 minutes later, right before Tyler was standing onstage to talk about Sidney Poitier for the Memorium, Denzel and some woman are still talking to Will & Jada.
I’m pretty sure that was Will’s publicist.
Okay, comments, debate, holes in the TMZ theory?
The only thing I’ll add is what about the flashbacks to his childhood seeing his Mom battered? 😕

Sounds like Will needed therapy to deal with all of these issues a long time ago if he didn’t already get it.

The other day I saw pictures of Jada with her boyfriend from 2017 (I think it was; years, anyway). Yet there the two of them (Will and Jada) sat holding hands. Who are they trying to kid?

The reality is that slapping a guy is more insulting than punching them.

Chris Rock had his first show in Boston tonight:

https://www.boston.com/culture/ente...l-smith-oscars-response-boston/?p1=hp_primary

”In his first public comments since Will Smith slapped him onstage at the 2022 Oscars, Chris Rock said he was “still processing” the incident.

Rock was performing the first of six planned shows at The Wilbur Theatre in Boston on Wednesday night. The shows are a lead-up of sorts to the official kickoff of his Ego Death World Tour on April 2, Rock’s first tour since the 2017-18 Total Blackout Tour.

As the minutes ticked past the scheduled 7:30 start time, hundreds of ticket-holders were still outside, working their way inside the theater.

Once everyone was settled, Rock took the stage a little after 8 p.m., and quickly addressed the slap heard ’round the world.

“How was your weekend?” Rock said, to laughter and cheers, per audio posted by Variety. “I don’t have a bunch of s*** about what happened. So if you came to hear that…”

“I had a whole show I wrote before this weekend,” Rock continued. “I’m still processing what happened. So at some point, I’ll talk about that s***. It’ll be serious, it’ll be funny, but right now I’m going to tell some jokes.””

Well, sure. Can't let it get in the way of her carefully curated, incoming narrative.

It's too bad for her, the internet is forever.
Well, I think Chris Rock took the Class Award again this evening. At least he was real. Guess maybe those who support the Smiths will continue to do so. I doubt there's much they can do to sway anyone else.

My new favorite conspiracy theory -

Smith's slap was a secret plan by Oscars sponsor Pfizer to drum up widespread interest in alopecia before it submitted its latest drug to the FDA

Well looks like Ms. Jada took down her "love my lack-of hair" tick-tock. Hmmm....

Yep! Found it already. TMZ has a copy of her TikTok video where she says she doesn't care what people think of her bald head. SHE loves it. Scroll down the TMZ page to watch it.
