The Official Clay Aiken Discussion Thread

Hi Kylene;

Yes, we had a blast at Spamalot - so much so that we "might" be there next Saturday. Are you going to the matinee or evening performance. My DH is going to be out of town, which means us girls can play :goodvibes

As long as the weather cooperates, we plan on going in for the matinee and doing the standing room only at the back of the orchestra. The theater is small enough that you still can see really well.

Here are a couple of shots I took the day we went in.

Yeeps...he looks terrible!! lol I haven't seen too many flattering stage door pictures of him though, so I'll chalk it up to hard work and a lot of wig/makeup action for the show with not much fuss afterwards. :) So glad you guys got to take some pics though! I'm hoping to get my Playbill signed if it's not too crazy, and I'm going to take a copy of my pic with him, just in case my sister or mom can stick something else in front of him to be signed. Sure it's from three years ago, but whatever.

We're actually going to the matinee. We're in the front row, which I'm not thrilled about, only because I prefer to be a few rows back for theater, but whatever. I didn't want to be too picky, and I figured it wouldn't hurt to be close up.;)

Have you made a decision about going? The weather isn't supposed to be great, but hopefully it'll clear up by the time we get in - I think we're leaving here around 8 to do some shopping and lunch prior to the show.

Kylene;

How'd you like the view from the front row? We were at the matinee, but in the SRO at the back of the orchestra. You probably walked right by me :-). Both Kim and I had our binoculaurs and spent most of the show watching Clay or in Kim's case, Tom Deckham (not dead yet Fred, Prince Herbert, etc). It wasn't as fun as seeing the play from the 2nd row, but we still laughed a lot! The plus was that we were able to get 2nd row at the stagedoor and both Kim and her friend Jess got their playbills signed.

We're going back for the May 4th night performance and can't wait!!!

:banana: Finally, I got to see Clay perform! Went to Spamalot today. Held my breath the entire time cause I was so sure he'd be "out". But he was there. He was fabalous!!! What a great dancer, too! He is such a natural for the stage (theater), I hope he does more Bway shows!:lovestruc

Got a question. My friends & I are trying to decide if the person in the audience is a "plant" or truely a ticket holder. The sign said c3 (roman #'s), and they pulled this lady on stage. She looked very embarresed, but she had a unusual name (can't remember it). The cast seemed a little "to comfortable" with this name.

What did you think?

Hi Kimberle;

The person chosen for the Peasant of the day is whoever is sitting in the "chosen" seat. In Feb. my dd was in B101 and the person chosen was in C101. She was bummed out 'cause it was her b-day. I've read several reports on Clay boards of people that were lucky enough to be in the right seat -- they all said it was really cool.

If you would like to hear the first single for Clay's new album, go over to AOL to the music tab. Look for Clay's picture and click on it. Once that page opens you can click on the little player and hear "On My Way Hear". It is a good song, but I have to say I was hoping for something a little more "upbeat" than this.

Reminder

Finally saw the show a couple of weeks ago - the "Peasant Seat" was B101. The peasant shook everyone's hand, BUT Clay's...Clay sort of held out his hand, saw he was being ignored, and then wiped it off on his tunic. Too funny.

My dd and I were fortunate enough to be able to get tickets for the last show and I am very glad we did. I have never experienced anything quite like this. Every performer was just on fire and the theater must have been 95% there to see Clay. All of the performers were greeted with cheers their first time on the stage, but Clay got thunderous ones. The ovation at the end of the play about tore the roof off! Both my daughter and I say that we came to see Clay, but stayed for Spamalot. The play is absolutely hilarious and all of the performers certainly put their all into it.

Clay's tradition has been to come out of the stage door and sign autographs, but since it was his last performance, most felt he wouldn't -- but none of us could leave. The alley must have held several hundred people just waiting to get a glimpse of him! There is an overhang marquee type thing over the stage door area -- and he came out on it! That way everyone got to see him! He signed "thank you", and using his hands for 6 -- let us know that May 6th was around the corner. Now we just have the CD to look forward to.

We got back to CT at 12:30am and I couldn't sleep I was so jazzed up. Clay really does that to me!

Luckily -- we have a Disney vacation coming up, so have something other than Clay to think about for a while!:laughing: :laughing:

BTW -- if you go to AOL music, you can hear all the songs on the CD now!

Well, is has been 2 weeks since the CD came out. What does everyone think of it? I have to be truthful and say that the first time I listened I wasn't really crazy about quite a few of the songs. Since then, I've listened several more times (many) and now find I like all of them and several I could listen to all day. The only one that is "eh' for me is the one that is the love song -- Something About Us -- it is okay, but I'm not in love with it. On the other hand, I really really like Grace of God and Falling. There have been several nights lately that do to RL stress it has been hard to sleep and I've put on my IPod and fell asleep to this CD.

Would love to hear what the rest of you think of it!

Oh -- and to keep this Disney related -- only 5 weeks until our Disney Cruise -- and my dd leaves on Friday with her Girl Scout troop for 5 days at WDW.

Well, I wanted to get here before a thread got started, but I'm too late...

Anyway, from tmz.com

TMZ has learned Clay Aiken is going to be a daddy. In case you didn't process that, Clay Aiken is going to be a daddy.

Here's what we know. Multiple sources tell us the mother is Jaymes Foster, a record producer and Clay's best friend. He lives at her home when he's in L.A.

We're told 50-year-old Foster, who produced several Aiken CDs, is due in August. She's the sister of record mogul David Foster. She divorced a few years back and has no kids. Aiken is 29.

We're told Foster was artificially inseminated. But Clay is a lot more than sperm -- we're told he will have an active role in raising the child.

No immediate word from Aiken's rep.

Since TMZ is just a "smidge" above the National Enquirer in it's level of factualness, I'll wait a while before I will truly believe this. Enough about that -- on to better things! Kylene -- what do you think of his new cd?

His new CD is OK. I've only listened to it once so far. (I'm to busy catching up on the DIS unplugged podcasts.) I watched him perform on QVC. He was really good there.

As for the baby thing, we'll see in a few months.;) Though since the big "C" would have happened when he was busy with Spamalot and recording his new CD, I don't know when he would have found the time... :confused3 She would have had to have come to NYC.

Well, it was supposedly artificial insemination, so they really didn't even have to be in the same state at the same time - just an important part of him did. ;)

Favorite song on the new cd: "Where I Draw the Line" - the rest are going to have to grow on me...or not...
