The Official Clay Aiken Discussion Thread

Well if someone would tell the man to come to INDY, I would truly appreciate it...lol...although, with my luck, he'll come on a night that I have my finals or something! Congrats to those who get to see him this year!!

I definately won't be traveling to NY; that's too far of a drive for me. Thanks for the update, Kylene!! Woohoo!

Next I'm expecting to see you post that Clay's going to be in Toms River again - who booked this podunk town tour?? :rotfl:

LoL - no kidding. Our high school auditorium (not MINE, obviously, but the town) is getting redone this fall. Should be done in time for Christmas, seats about 1,500...maybe he could stop by?

Honestly though, I imagine Clay, all dressed in black with one of those ski caps and eye black on, sneaking around scheduling all these shows. They're SO random.

I have to just put my two cents in, I haven't read this whole thread...
My daughter went to camp at the YMCA with Clay for 4 years! He was her counselor/ then the director the last year....When he had curly red hair, and no clue how to dress. He was pretty geeky and known by the name Gonzo! We have many videos of him singing during family nights when the counselors put on shows for the campers. And many t-shirts with his signature and messages from him. She also got a hug everyday... she doesn't see what the big deal is since she has known him for so long... But, I bet we could sell some of these things to some of his fans, ebay for some cash!!!! hahaha! He is just a boy from our town who got to live his dream!!

Enjoy your concerts!

Thanks for the tidbits from NC!!

Your daughter is a very lucky girl. I hope you never consider selling any of those souveniers from Clay's pre-AI life!! Have you guys continued to follow him since AI in terms of touring and stuff? I imagine he's just "regular guy" Clay when he's home, but I'm also sure he's got some homegrown fans!!

OH!

BY THE WAY - JUST READ THIS....How does Michigan sound, friends?? :goodvibes

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN
December 19 @ 7:00
Devos Hall

Clay will be performing with the Grand Rapids MI Symphony on December 19, 2006 at 7 PM Devos Hall-replacing LeeAnn Rimes. www.grsymphony.org Office opens 8/24/06 at 9AM
Purchase can be made with single tickets. At this time you would call their number -616-454-9451 extension 4. Single tickets requests would be date and time stamped and filled on October 2, after the season (series) ticket holders. OR
Purchase can be made as part of a series (cost varies-check www.grsymphony.org for Symphonic Boom tickets, sections and costs). If you purchase the series the symphony will issue a tax credit IF you donate the tickets for concert 1 and concert 3 of the series back to the symphony. This way you get a tax credit and they get 2 other concerts not playing to an empty house. For the tax credit they will need your name, address, telephone number.
The office opens on 8/24/06 at 9 AM. They think they are ready for the Claymates calls!!
If you have questions feel free to call the Symphony office tomorrow at 616-454-9451. (If I get a lot of the same questions I will add additional info here if I can and not respond separately)
Please post and share with other boards.

So, basically if you buy single show tickets, your order will be filled AFTER October 2. If you buy it as part of the series, you will get your order filled earlier. Good luck!! (Even though I don't think we have any Michigan Clay DISers, but hey...you never know!!)

*sigh*

Another appearance to add to the calendar...this is exhausting!

JAY LENO - SEPTEMBER 15

Ok, because we've gotten all of these random dates and because I'm OCD about putting things in lists, I'm starting this here:

09/15/06 - Friday: Jay Leno
09/19/06 - A THOUSAND DIFFERENT WAYS
09/26/06 - Tuesday: Jimmy Kimmel Live (the Clayboard is reporting that this will air on 09/27/06 for East Coast...when it gets closer to the date, I'll let you know, but I guess just TiVo both nights, or, if you're living in the dark ages like me, set the VCR)

12/09/06 - Saturday: Community Arts Center, Williamsport, PA
12/14/06 - Thursday: Tilles Center, LIU, Brookville, NY
12/15/06 - Friday: Eisenhower Hall Theater, West Point, NY
12/16/06 - Saturday: Count Basie Theater, Red Bank, NJ
12/19/06 - Tuesday: Devos Hall, Grand Rapids, MI

   No Clay in Pittsburgh!! Williamsport is too far. :(

First Barry won't be in Vegas when I'm there because of his hip surgery.
Then no Clay Christmas.

I'm so sad!!!!!!!! :( BUT there's a new album in LESS THAN A MONTH!!!!!!!!!!! :teeth:

Thanks for being on the ball Kylene!

:guilty: I'm sorry, Sarah!!

Don't worry though, there's still a chance. They haven't announced anything as far as a tour goes, so all these dates are just popping up...there's still a chance something else will be added closer to you!! :goodvibes

Kylene, what would we do without you? You are awesome!!!! Here's to hoping more dates will be added to that list soon!

A couple more exciting additions:

09/19/06 - Tuesday: Good Morning America
09/22/06 - Friday: The View

A couple of things to share with you guys.

Firstly, a great honor for Clay:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/09/20060905-10.html

Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate eight individuals, designate two individuals and appoint thirteen individuals to serve in his Administration:

.....

The President intends to appoint the following individuals to be Members of the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities:

Dallas Rob Sweezy, of Virginia, and upon appointment designate Chair, for an additional two year term expiring May 11, 2008.

Clayton Aiken, of North Carolina

Stephen Bird, of Virginia

Valerie Billmire, of Utah

James Boles, of New York

Stephanie Brown, of Florida

William J. Edwards, of California

Brian J. Kelly, of California

Mary Margaret Pucci, of Illinois

Linda Hampton Starnes, of Florida

Stephen Henry Suroveic, of Pennsylvania

William E. Tienken, of Illinois

Secondly, I'm going to post a thread for Clay's new album, just as a DIS heads up. I'm pretty sure there are a bunch of people on the DIS who enjoy Clay but who never find their way into this thread (which is, I admit, a little intimidating at as many pages as it is), so I'm just posting to let everyone ELSE know that his album will be out soon.

Please feel free to bump it with a hello if it falls too far back in the next couple of weeks, k? :grouphug:

What great news, Kylene!! Thanks for posting, and congrats to Clay!

We haven't had a new pic for a while, so I'm sharing this. There's news about fan club membership at clayonline.com, for anyone interested. In addition to the $30 membership package, they're also going to have one for $15, so if you're thinking you'd want to have the perks without forking over lots o' cash, that's a good way to go. You just don't get the doo-dahs that the $30 gets, like the t-shirt and an 8x10 glossy photo. But since we're not Claymates here, we don't need no stinking doo-dahs anyway. Right ladies?!?

*Kylene hides her $30*

Anyways, I just wanted to share this photo and still tell you that, although I'm getting used to the hair, I really don't love SexyClay right now. I like GoofyClay, NerdyClay, UnexplainablyAttractiveClay.

SexyClay? It feels forced. *sigh*

Still love ya, Boy. I just wanna spike your hair.

I so agree...on all counts! No doo-dahs necessary for me. I was balking at the $30, but I'll fork over the $15...maybe. :teeth:

And the new 'do - *shudder* I'm so not into it. Bring back the spiky hair!! I love the geeky guy. The "sexy 'do"...not so much.
