The Official 2013 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Thread

Me too! That 10K bling will be mine! LOVE that it's a metal medal.
:cool1:

See you there! I'll be the one running. :rotfl:

I'm escaping the late summer heat of the grand mitten state with a little trip to Disneyland over the weekend. Gotta get that bling!

I will be there too! Starting my first coast to coast challenge! So nervous because the weather is going to probably be more like the summer 7 miler I just ran verse the half I did in May. The heat definitely slows me down a bit.

Best of luck to everyone running Disneyland this weekend! Very envious that you will be coast to coasting this year :goodvibes

3.5 this morning. Legs still feeling tired after Saturday's 8-miler. And, just because he's the most annoying training partner in the world ;), DH went out that night and ran 7 miles. His longest run in months was 4-miles. But, he just goes out and does whatever he feels like with almost no training. Meanwhile, it took me three weeks of dedicated runs to do 7 miles. And, he came in totally feeling fine and not at all stumbling and pathetic like I do after long runs. It is infuriating that he's going to beat my by a ton in November :rolleyes2

Thinking of doing an easy 10k trail run for better corral placement in a couple of weeks. I get so nervous about these sorts of races with all of the super fast and fit participants. Weighing my anxiety over a better corral is tough :)

I KNOW!!! DH did 5 miles yesterday morning and while he said he felt "tired" he was in MUCH better shape than I am after I did my 7 last night. I know he "only" did 5, but it took me months to get to 5 miles and he runs randomly whenever he feels like it.

Very jealous of everyone headed out to Disneyland for the DDD!! But I did manage to score an ADR at California Grill for W&D weekend! Anyone else get up at 6am for reservations??

did my first magic mile run this weekend. The run was crappy - I left the house too late and it was so hot out and I had over-imbibed the night before (who'd have thought that a few glasses of wine could hurt my running so much). Good news is there is room for improvement :)

Anyway this coming weekend is my 8 mile and I am re-invigorated to have a good run - it might have to be a very early morning given the heat wave here.

:cheer2::cheer2:Great job on all of your runs this weekend folks!!!:cheer2::cheer2:

I regret not believing in myself enough to go for a coast to coast. I signed up for the DLR 10K in Jan thinking that it's as far as I would ever be able to go.

Little did I know that 6 months later I could do 11 miles and would allow myself to dream about doing a 1/2.

Oh well. There's always next year! :)

I understand why they don't but I kind of wish they would award coast to coast medals for races completed within 12 months of each other rather than during a calendar year. Probably way more hassle than Disney would want to validate it, but it would be kind of nice.

Hi gang! Well it's been a week since my leg felt a little off after a great run, and it's been feeling good being on my feet all day at work all weekend, so I gave it a go today and went for a run. Took the new shoes and wore them only for my warm-up walk, and they hurt a little bit so we're going to be breaking those in verrry slowly or replacing them. The old shoes along with my favorite place to run treated me GREAT :cool1: and no issues or injuries during the run.

It's supposed to be really hot and awful here this week, so I went with extra preparation expecting the worst, and was pleasantly surprised that between 2-3pm it was quite nice!

I'm anxious to get back out, especially after missing my big 9-10 mile long run this past weekend, but am also determined to take it slow. Got up to about a 1/1 pace today at about 14:30/ mile, and that felt comfortable.

Kristenrice, did I see you say you ran 8/4??? :yay: Holy crap you're crazy LOL :) That's awesome!

Good luck to all of you going out this weekend to the Dumbo- my BFF who is going with me to Wine & Dine is going to Dumbo with her family so I'll be cheering you all on from back here in KY! I have family on the west coast now, so maybe someday if I can time it to see the Reds play at one of the west coast ballparks and fit in a run at Disney, a trip that way might happen. Who knows :)

Alright I'm off to enjoy the rest of my only day off this week... Gonna take it easy and keep an eye on my old injuries and make sure everything's still OK :)

Sorry if this is a repeat question, but I'm thinking about going to the Finish Line party. I'm not running this time, I'm just cheering some folks I know...and all of you really :goodvibes

Can anyone comment about how the crowds are, are lines to get food&drink super long? In a nutshell...worth it?

Yes. Especially if you're not running, you can work your way around the kiosks before the lines get really long (which they do get). My sister and father came with me, he ended up leaving early (12amish) because once you hit the world showcase between Mexico and Canada it was really crowded. The crowds thinned out the further you got away from future world, and they were all at the food booths--we sat on Soarin' without getting off.

:cool1: :dance3: :yay: :cheer2: to all the Disney runners this weekend! Know that south Florida will be cheering all of you on!! Hope to be able to join all you Coast-to-Coasters before I end up in the ground! :lmao:

Safe travels and lots and lots of pixiedust: coming your way!

On an exciting note: Team #runDisney asked me to write a blurb about about my Wine and Dine experience from last year! I'll let you know if they publish it. Keeping my paw: crossed....

OK, so I got keen and ordered our park passes today online. I chose the shipping option, because it was unclear that you could pick up at Will Call before November 7th (and we want to use the passes for the first day on November 6th). So I then tried to link the tickets to my disneygo account, and it said they were already printed or shipped. :rolleyes1

Is there any way to get these linked to my KTTK card when arrive so that we don't have to carry extra stuff around with us? It doesn't help that we are doing a split stay, Weds night at POP and Thurs-Mon at Boardwalk Villas.

Any info would be appreciated!

I can't wait to read it!!! Congrats! :cool1::thumbsup2

No run for me this morning. DH had wing pt this morning so I planned ahead and ran yesterday. My training week is getting all crazy because I think we will head out of town for the holiday. So, I am going to run 5-6 miles tomorrow and then do my long run on Friday or 8-9 miles. Training schedule calls for a 5k race and since I am not doing that, I figure I can increase my long run mileage or stay where I am depending upon how I feel.

I know now you can link all paper park tickets on My Disney Experience. Once you log onto your account you can pick what your paper ticket looks like and it will tell you what information they need from the back in order to link it with your account. Im not sure if they will automatically link with you KTTK but it can't hurt to try!

Ok- thanks! I emailed Disney to find out so we will see what they say!

So uh. I need a bit of help here. This is my first Wine and Dine and I have no idea what I should book for dinner the night of the race. Or do for dinner I guess. I am all ready having lunch at one p.m. (in MK not much by my choice but LTT is one of my favorite restaurants and this is the only day I can get it to work) but that is not going to last me all the way until race time.

Yeah I know this is 'last minute booking' but up until a few weeks ago I thought I might be post-bariatric for this race. So where I exactly picked to eat didn't really seem to matter to me at that moment. Than things got crazy and pushed back and suddenly I need reservations. So recommendations please? Preferrably somewhere not in the park but I will take in park (I have an Premiere Passport but my Mom doesn't have an AP at all).

I would suggest a light meal. Something from the counter service at your resort would work well.

Depending on where you're staying, there are a bunch of chain restaurants just off property by Downtown Disney - Chevy Chase, Pizzeria Uno, Taco Bell, Buffalo Wild Wings, etc. There's also Orlando Ale house a couple of blocks away. It shouldn't be too crowded if you want to grab some quick carbs late that afternoon/early evening with everyobe else probably eating at their hotels or in the parks.

We plan to eat a quick service meal at our resort, or maybe grab something light to go at Downtown Disney that will keep for the evening. We'll also bring a bunch of pre-rce snacks from home (bagels, trail mix, etc.) We aren't planning any big eating until after the race. But, I'm a runner who can tolerate very little in my stomach before pounding the pavement.
