The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

I haven't experienced anything like that either of my c-sections. I would call your PCP and ask them what they think you should do. I still have some minor pains and numbness around the area but it's not gas pains.

So I decided to take a stand at work. My union came up with a solution for me to work PT. I didn't think it was going to work, but turns out it probably would. The union suddenly isn't supporting it anymore because 2 people are trying to push a seperate issue and want it to be included with my issue.

So I told our president (one of the 2 people) that I didn't agree and that I could get a petition with pretty much everyone supporting me. I generally get along with her pretty well.

So she forwarded it to the big organizer people to help us sort through it. I have a feeling they will side with her since she is the pres., but I have serious support and a lot of people are really unhappy with our union in general.

So we're getting ready to light our torches and grab the pitchforks...lol
Wish me luck!

For those of you that BF and bottle feed, how do your feedings work? Alex is still eating every three hours in the the day and being fed around 4 oz per feed. He doesn't seem ready to go up to 5 oz just yet - but seems to want to go a little longer between feedings. I guess my question is when to feedings get longer than 3 hours apart? I thought I heard that you want around 2 oz per pound of weight and he's still in that range (24 oz, eating around 4 oz per feeding, and he eats around 5a, 7:30, 11a, 2p, 5p, 8p, 9:30p...)

Oh and he had his baptism last weekend! He did great! Didn't cry with the water and even smiled and laughed a little through it. He was majorly over stimulated during his luncheon though - wouldn't eat or take his nap and didn't want anyone except me or DH.

Isabelle is mainly bf, but gets 1 bottle a day to keep her used to a bottle and formula (as a just in case kinda thing). This probably doesn't help you much, but she is very small (almost 5 months, and 11lbs.8oz.), and she still eats every 3 hours during the day (I know she "could" go longer if she wanted because she'll eat around 9pm, and not wake up until 6ish). When she gets a bottle, it's 4 oz., which seems enough to hold her over. Food doesn't seem to last her any longer between feeds as she usually gets cereal / fruit along with her morning feed, and a veggie with her dinnertime feeding. She consistently gets about 7 feedings per day, pretty close to your schedule, actually.

This is our "schedule.":rotfl:

I set an alarm every morning for 5, and another one for 6. Katie often wakes up before the 5am alarm. She nurses on one side, and I go back to sleep. When the 2nd alarm goes off, I wake her up to nurse on the other side before I have to get up and get ready for work.

She gets from 4-5 oz of bm in a bottle at around 9am, 12pm, and 3pm.

I pick her up between 3:30 and 4:30, and she immediately starts nursing when we get home, and nurses every couple of hours until 10pm!!!!!:rolleyes1

She eats one jar of food at daycare around lunch, but isn't very interested in food at home. She will eat a little off my plate.

She is 6 months old, and weighs 17 1/2 lbs.

So Lucas is officially 6 months old today (the 3rd) CRAZY!!

A few pictures.. he was being absolutely ROTTEN when I took this yesterday.

I think he's put on a few pounds. :rotfl:

Pasty.. He is a doll!! So cute, and he is getting so big!

We might be getting a new addition to the family! We are having a teen!:lmao: My little sis in law might be coming to live with us for a year. :cool1: We are SUPER excited! She is 17, and lives in Germany right now. No.. 16, but will be 17 then. She is looking to spend a year in the states, and of course... we are the obvious place to stay. She just mentioned it to us yesterday, and of course we jumped on it. We think it would be such a wonderful opportunity for her. She is such a sweet kid. We are already looking at all the new places we can take her.

She was born in Arizona, but they moved back to Germany when she was a baby.. She has only been to Colorado, and they came out to Las Vegas when we got married. OMG!! Im so excited! I hope everything works out and she gets to come. My dh is REALLY excited for his little sis to come stay with us..

I'm confused. Are you feeding him breastmilk bottles or formula?

If you are feeding expressed bm in bottles, he only needs 3 oz every 3 hours, and will go that way until solids are introduced.

Formula fed babies need more oz, but bm is magic and adjusts to the baby's developmental needs. They need an average of an ounce a hour. So if he wants it more frequently, you give him less per bottle.

Here's info from kellymom:
http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/bottle-feeding.html
http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/index.html

A ebm fed baby still feeds about 7-8 times a day. Lily feeds about every 2-3 hours during the day and 1-2 times at night. When I work her schedule looks like:
4am me, 8am me, 10:30 bottle, 1:30 bottle, 4:30 bottle, 6:30 me, 9 me, 11 me. She usually skips at least one of those straight from me feedings--or goes longer in between. And during the day she only feeds for about 5 minutes--at night it can be about 10. She's SOOO much more efficient than the beginning...ack!

Formula is totally different. They need much more in quantity, but often less frequently.

Oh! Let me say that every baby is different--these are just the guidelines I go by bc of km and because it's what Lily wants.

If Alex doesn't seem hungry after 3 hours, I would just wait til he is.
It's VERY hard to overfeed a bf baby. If he gets too much, he'll probably just spit some of it up and maybe eat less later. I would only worry if he starts gaining too much weight.

If you give him ebm, try stopping at 3 oz and only give more if he really wants it, in 1/2 oz increments.

How exciting!!

And Patsy, he is too cute! When's the next Drs appointment?
Lily's 4 month is on Friday. I can't wait to see how much she weighs.

I posted this on the Community Board, but then saw this one .. and thought hey straight to the new moms, they can find ANYTHING! lol

But .. is there a store that you know of where you can get Disney (other than Pooh) for baby items?!

My friend is having a baby girl, named Jazmine! I know right?! How appropriate! lol

Other than clothes, was looking for a stroller/car seat

I saw your question and I almost posted, but I can't be too helpful.

As the mom to a little princess, I'm always looking for disney princess stuff.

The only thing I have seen is at Babies r us. It's a set of different pieces of clothing (dresses, shirts, skirts, shoes, crowns) with the princess theme. It's very low key. Pink print on pink fabric. It was very cute, but expensive.

I have not seen ANYTHING in the way of strollers/ car seats or anything like that except the Pooh collection. Not even anything Mickey. They are missing a big market!

Besides the bazillion Pooh themed things the Disney Store is showing a "princess" stroller / carseat combo, link here: http://www.disneystore.com/travel-disney-princess-baby-travel-system/p/1250400/69516/

OMG!! It says it's part of the Disney Princess Baby collection. Too cool.

It's made by Safety 1st, which makes me say that you are paying a little too much for the princesses, but it's cute.

Zooming in on the fabric--the princesses aren't pictured at all--it's just crowns and stars and things.

Oooh thanks! Knew I could count on you!

I found some Mickey items that on the other thread the lady gave .. cute stuff too! I like the Disney store tho, how precious is THAT?!

Here's the Pack n Play from the same collection:

I would go with that over the travel system. People can be very picky about stollers. :-)

ETA: I want this:

Somebody has to be able to make one of those!

And here's clothes very similar to the ones at BRU

Okay, so I have about 2 months before Elliott makes his arrival. He will have to be ready to be on the go, as he is due right in the beginning of DS;s wrestling season. I will have his stroller, which I love, but I am looking for recommendations on a sling for him. Any ideas?
